Tylers POV

The next few days have gone by rather smoothly. I haven't had much time with Vicki thanks to the games but she doesn't seem to mind much. The pack knows of her arrival and has been told to respect her distance until she grows comfortable. I plan to see her tonight for a surprise moon light dinner by the lake at the end of town. One area I purposely did not show her in our tour knowing It would be a perfect place for us to spend some bonding time.

I knock on her door and wait for her to answer. Theres some bussling around going on behind the door before she finally opens it.

"O Tyler, To what do I owe the pleasure?"

"I was hoping you would join me for dinner say seven O'clock?"

"I'd hate to intrude on your time I know you're very busy."

"Nonsense, you are my mate and I'm going stir crazy not getting time with you."

"Well if you insist I'd be honored."

"Meet me at the bottom of the stairs then, I have a special place I'd like to show you."

"Ok seven it is."

When it's a quarter til I head down to meet her. Mrs. Jacobson has assured me everything is set up perfectly. As I check my watch for the one hundreth time, I hear the stairs creak and look up to see Vicki shimmering in a green sequin dress that comes to just below her knees. she has a matching coat over it and her hair is curled to hug around her shoulders. Rider growls as we take in the view.

Once at the bottom of the stairs I take her arm in mine and escourt her out the back, past the creek and into the woods. Our night vision allows us to see through the dark of the night and theres a small trail lined by wild flowers.

"There's a spot just through here that is one of my favorites. I thought it be a nice place for us to eat and get to know each other more." I tell her as I lead her around a large tree and the branches clean bringing a large cliff into view.

She gasps at the beauty, "O my it's lovely I've never seen such a magical place."

We come to the edge of the cliff where a table has been placed. Just over the edge a waterfall can be seen falling into a large pool that feeds into the lake that flows into the creek by the house.

We sit down as I reveal our hot meals from under the plate lids. Each consealing a sizzling hot plate of freshly made chicken cabanara. I filled my mouth with food avoiding the uncomfortable feeling of not knowing what to say. Most mates have instant chemistry, a pull that brings then to eachother but I feels like I'm on a blind date.

Vicki spoke first, "Tell me about your life Tyler. We talked an aweful lot about me the other night but I would like to know you. Who are you when you are not the alpha?"

"In school I was in debate and football but now adays I mostly just run the pack. Theres not a whole lot of time for hobbies unless you count training Which I do rather enjoy. I like helping the young recruits be the best that they can be inorder for them to protect our pack when necessary."

"Do you like music?"

"mostly I listen to whatever is current on the radio, I dont really have a favorite genre but could probably do without country music."

"So you're saying you don't like the music but somehow we met at a country western bar... are you sure you didn't go there to meet the ladies?" She asked inquizitively, her eyebrow slightly raised.

"I promise. Logan picked that spot I didn't even know we were going there until we were already there. He said he wanted to start me at somewhere easy since it was my first time out. Leave the crazier spots for another time."

"He sounds like a regular player. Odd for a werewolf to not be committed to finding his mate."

"O' he wants to find her but we like to say he's a little more human then the rest of us. He says he is only young once and he's going to enjoy himself until he finds her. I don't really agree with that but it's his life not mine. I just hope whoever his mate is can handle him having a past."

Just then an alarm sounded from the direction of the packhouse. A fire alarm.

I stand immediately "There's a fire at the pack we must go and make sure every one is alright."

"You go on ahead I will only slow you down in theres heels."

I look at her torn not wanting to leave her in the middle of the woods but she nods at me and I give her a quick hug before I run off back into the woods towards the house.

"Mike, Justin whats going on."

I link them as I make my way back. A fire on pack ground is very unusual.

"We are not quite sure. The alarms are all going off on the main floor but we have checked everyroom and have found no source to trigger the alarms. I wonder if the devices are just faulty from lack of use. I will have them serviced immediately." Justin informs me as I reach the clearing and the packhouse comes into view.

The guys come towards me as I approach them "lets do one more sweep to be sure. Mike check the cameras for the last hour just to be sure its nothing. I dont want to chance anything. Anything else weird happening I should know about?"

"Actually yes. The day care has reported that somehow their fridge lost power and all the lunches were found spoiled this morning. And yesterday the librarian said that many books shelves suddenly fell apart. When we had a look it was like they had rotted over night."

"Do we have any explainations for any of this?"

"nothing, I was just in the library last week the shelves were all in pristine condition and the fridges were replaced last month, no way they can be faulty already."

"Has there been any odd sitings on patrols or roamers passing through the area."

"None that we know of Ty, what the heck is going on around here?"

"I dont know but I want each of you to keep an eye out. Last thing we need is trouble at the pack just before the warrior games and just as our luna arrives."

"Speaking of how is she settling in, haven't seen much of her since shes arrived most the pack is curious to who the alphas mysterious friend is who hids in her room all day and refuses to come to her door when omegas bring her food."

"I was just having dinner with her before all this happened. Im still getting to know her myself so things like this doesn't really help much."

" You mean you haven't marked her yet? If you want to strengthen your bond that would the obvious move." Mike chimed in.

"Its not that simple, whatever type of being she is mixed with dampens our bonds strength so If I just walk up and ask her to let me mark her she wouldn't be over the moon like Jess was for Justin she'd think I was crazy."

"But shes also part wolf she knows how things work. I say you just go for it, speed things up and screw her dampener." Logan added his two cents as he came up on us. "What'd I miss?"

"morning sleeping beauty," Justin pokes at Logans tired face and continues. "Did the fake fire alarm wake you? You only missed the alpha telling us that he has yet to mark his mate, she refuses to mingle with the pack and now odd events keep happening all over the grounds."

"What do you mean she refuses to meet With the Pack? I see her roaming the forest all throughout the night while doing my patrols, why do you thing I slept so late today, Got to be alert when our luna goes for her nightly strolls."

"She does what?!" l'm slightly furious that I'm just now hearing about this. My mate has been here almost a week and I'm just now finding out that tho she seems to avoid the pack at any cost she has no problem putting herself in danger in the middle of the night unguarded in the woods.

"Why wasn't I informed about this? She could have been hurt, she's not familiar with our woods. Why was I not informed immediately?"

"Ty I think she is just trying to get her barings with her new life. The patrol and I keep a close eye on her and she never goes far. We didn't feel the need to take away what seems to be her comfort here."

"Fair enough but just tell me next time, She is my luna afterall, I won't make a fuss about it I just would like to know where she is."

"Understood alpha."

"The rest of you, get down to the bottom of these random events. I want to know what is going on in my pack."

"Yes Alpha." The say in unison before dispursing into the night.

I breath a sigh of frustration when a hand touches my shoulder. I know instantly its Vicki but the light sparks. It may be just me but I think they are a little stronger now.

"Is everything ok? Wheres the fire?"

"There was no fire vicki dear, just a faulty device, we will have it serviced in the morning. Are you alright."

"Yes I broke a heel on my way back on the path but other then that I am in one piece" She smiles and laughs a little giggle.

"Thats good to hear, I'm sorry I had to leave you back there."

"Nonsense your pack comes first."

"Our pack, and my Luna is as important as this pack is to me."

"I'm only saying you did it for others safety it is alright."

"Would you like to continue our meal?"

"I actually kind of finished without you.. I'd like to rest now but it was a lovely evening thank you for inviting me. Will I see you tomorrow?"

"Of course, care to join me for breakfast?"

"I would, see you then." She pecked my cheek and headed inside.

This girl is the sweetest and most understanding woman I have every met. How did I get blessed with such a mate.

"The goddess only knows," Rider grumbles in my mind as we watch her sway her hips in the moonlight and disappear into the pack house.
