Alpha Jaxson's point of view The ball. The smell filled my nostrils. Her smell was intoxicating. It was the smell of lavender and roses that made my heart ache. It was the smell of her...My mate. I couldn't believe that I had found her, my mate, my soul mate. I thought for sure it was my childhood best friend...She was dead now...Her and her disgusting family. A thump hit my back, and I turned to see what it was... It was her, my mate, clumsily picking herself up from the floor, when I saw her face it was... Aira! My childhood friend, the one who betrayed me. I looked at her as she apologized like a scared little girl. "YOU..." I exclaimed. My wolf was trying to take over me as he wanted to claim our mate. She fumbled almost every word she spoke to me, she looked helpless, and I couldn't help but admire her beauty. Her beautiful hair falling over her shoulder, The red dress she was wearing teased her full breasts. I wanted to, and my wolf wanted to take her then. But she should be dead. I thought her and her whole family died in that fire. "What are you doing here?" I asked this pathetic excuse of a girl and my wolf growled at me, getting angry. He hated me for disrespecting her, but she was a traitor. 'You're scaring her.' My wolf screamed in my head. 'I don't care.' I told him, pushing him to the back of my mind. "I needed air." She whispered, staring at her feet. She shied away from me, looking adorable, but her innocence only fueled my anger even more. "I thought you were dead?" I asked her. She stuttered that she was the only one that had survived. She was intimidated, scared of me. That made me feel better. She should be hollowing in fear. How dare she not recognize me, she destroyed my life. Angry at the thought, I grabbed her arm and pulled her closer to me. I gripped her hair, making her release a quiet and pained moan and made her look into my eyes. She honestly had no idea who I was. My wolf tried fighting me, and he was too excited to care who she was and what she had done. She was aroused, aroused at my touch. She wanted me. The mate bond made me want her too, but I couldn't. I couldn't have her. She fought my grip, The smell of her arousal sent my wolf into a spiral, she smelled so damn good. I couldn't take it. Either I would kill her for what she and her family did to my pack, or I would take her right here and now. She was breathtaking, and she had no idea. She was so much more beautiful than I remember. She had grown into this gorgeous goddess and she didn't even know it. My wolf was screaming in my mind. I had to leave, leave her there by herself looking confused while she watched me walk away. I couldn't take it. 'Matty, I have found her and you're not going to believe this. Meet me in the garden by the big oak tree.' I linked to my Beta as I walked out of her sight. "Who is she?" Matty asked me as he walked towards me from the exit of the ballroom. "You're in for a shock." I told him and his face grew confused. "Remember Aira, my best friend from when we were younger? The daughter of the leaders of the 'crescent moon' pack?" I asked him, watching his face grow furious with anger. "Yes, Jax, I remember." he growled. "It's her!" I stated through gritted teeth. "But, Jax. She's dead, isn't she?" He said, calming down. "She survived." I laughed in anger. "How?" He asked, frustrated. "I don't know! Do you think I'd be out here talking to you if I did?" I said, clenching my fist. "What are we going to do? Did anyone else survive?" Matty asked me, but I had no idea. "No, just her. She doesn't even know who I am!" I sighed. 'Take her with us, please?' My wolf asked. "My wolf wants me to take her with us." I told Matty. "She's your mate, Jax." "I know she is." I huffed, I sat on a bench in the garden and collapsed my head into my hands. "We should take her with us." Matty suggested, and I looked at him curiously. "I can't imagine what it's like being mated to the one girl you've ever loved who betrayed you, but you'll only kill yourself thinking about it. Take her with us. You can then do with her as you see fit. Make her remember you. Ask all the questions you've wanted to know all these years. Ask her why she betrayed you and watched our pack be slaughtered. She's the sole survivor of that fire... There must be a reason why..." Matty argued. "Get her." I said as I described her and Matty chased after her. I waited only moments before I could smell her again. I followed the trail of her scent to a balcony overlooking the garden. I watched, hoping she would come to the balcony. I just had to see her. Matty sure was taking his time getting her. After maybe half an hour of standing there, she came to the balcony. Our eyes met. My wolf howled for her. I quickly mind-linked Matty to her location. My wolf wanted to shift in front of her and I had to fight him about it. She was stood standing on the balcony staring at me and all I could think about was having her in my arms, feeling her smooth skin, kissing her soft lips. I shook my head trying to snap out of it and when I looked up I saw Matty sneak up behind her and grab her. I stepped forward as she resisted and tried to fight him before she collapsed into his arms.
