Alpha Max's Point of view.
"What is this meeting about, Alpha's?" I asked them, annoyed. It was rude to summon an Alpha, especially in his own home, on his own territory.
"We are just curious. We want to know how you plan on running your pack with no Luna." Alpha Carlisle asked. I hated that smug face of his. Nothing would please him more than to see me suffer for my sister's mistakes.
"I've told you before. I can run things without a Luna, but I will accept her when I find her." I told him through gritted teeth.
"Yes, but see. Some Alphas are getting worried. Alpha Max, if you don't find your mated Luna soon, I'm afraid you will no longer be the Alpha of this pack." Alpha Theodore hastily explained to me.
"Right! I know, Alphas. When the time comes, and I haven't found my mate, we will decide what needs to be done, but I still have time." I told them, holding back rage.
"Would you be willing to break the mate bond?" Alpha Theodore asked me quickly.
"Break the mate bond?" I looked at him seriously.
"If you break the mate bond, it'll mean you get to continue running this pack but with a Luna of your choosing and not your original mate...If you break the mate bond, you'll no longer have your destined mate." Alpha Theodore treaded carefully.
"Can I have time to think about it?" I asked them.
"Yes, but if you choose to run this pack and break the mate bond, you only have six months to find a replacement Luna. And as you know, you have a little over a year to find your destined mate." Alpha Carlisle smugly stated.
"Are we done? Can I go back to the party that I hosted for YOU?" I told them angrily.
They bowed their heads at me, before a knock came at the door.
"What is it?" I asked, and Layla walked in.
"I need to talk to you privately, Alpha." She stated, and I turned my gaze to the Alphas who were already standing in my office and signaled them to leave.
"What's up, Layla? Is everything okay?"
"I think Aira has found her mate, Alpha." Layla told me in my office.
"Well, tell me then?" I said as I noticed the confused look on her face.
"I don't really understand Alpha. It wasn't a very friendly encounter. She was scared. I'm not sure if he is her mate, but she definitely felt the tingles and the connection between mates. She met him in the Garden, Alpha. She wanted me to ask you if you might know him. He was tall, had black hair and blue eyes, a chiseled jaw, and he radiated dominance." Layla explained.
"I have no idea who he could be." I thought long and hard. There were many people I knew, but not by that description.
"It does sound like the mate bound. But fear should never be a feeling when you first encounter your mate."
I leaned back in my chair and thought to myself, Although it did sound like he could be Aira's mate, the fact that she was scared confused me, the fact that he wasn't here asking for my permission to take her with him is surprising. Something is off about this man, and it makes me wonder if he is her mate.
"Take me to her. I'll speak to her directly, and she can give me a little more information about him. This whole situation is making me unnerved. Thank you for coming to me, Layla."
I followed Layla through my pack house and towards Aira's room. Layla knocked on the door several times, but no answer came.
She gave me a worried look as she pushed the door open. We took a minute to look around, but Aira was gone, her bed was empty, her balcony doors were swung open, a chair was knocked over, and Everything on her dressing table was knocked over or on the floor.
There had been a struggle.
"THOMAS!" I called to my beta in my mind.
"What is it, Alpha?" He replied using the mind-link.
"Let the guards know my niece is missing. It looks like there was a struggle. No one leaves this house until she is found! Put guards on the doors, and search the premises. She could be in danger!" I told him as I scrambled into my wolf and searched the entire house for her and sent wolves to search the grounds.
