Chapter 3: Would I Ever See Him Again

652 Words
A year had passed since the accident, and Alex's life as a student had continued uninterrupted. He had settled into a comfortable routine, balancing his studies with a social life that included his two best friends, Emily and Ryan. Emily was a psychology major with a passion for art, while Ryan was a business major with a love for sports. Despite their different interests, the three friends had clicked immediately, bonding over their shared sense of humor and love for adventure. One evening, as they sat in the campus café, sipping coffee and discussing their plans for the future, Alex found himself opening up to his friends about Jake. "I know this sounds crazy," Alex said, hesitating, "but I met this guy last year. We had an accident, and I had to help him hide from the police." Emily's eyes widened with excitement. "That sounds like a movie plot! Tell us more." Ryan raised an eyebrow. "Dude, you're not getting yourself mixed up with some shady character, are you?" Alex shook his head. "No, it's not like that. Jake's... different. He's got this presence, this confidence that's hard to ignore." Emily leaned in, her voice barely above a whisper. "I think it's hot that you're still thinking about him after all this time. Do you think you'll ever see him again?" Ryan snorted. "Dude, you're not seriously hoping to run into some Mafia boss, are you? That's just asking for trouble." Alex rolled his eyes. "He's not that kind of Mafia boss, Ryan. Besides, I don't know if I'll ever see him again. But sometimes I wonder... what if?" As they left the café, Emily turned to Alex with a mischievous grin. "You know, I think we should try to find him. Just to see if he's still got that spark." Ryan shook his head. "You're both crazy. But hey, if it's what you want, I've got your back." Alex smiled, feeling a sense of gratitude towards his friends. They might not fully understand his fascination with Jake, but they were willing to support him nonetheless. As they walked across campus, Alex couldn't help but wonder... would he ever see Jake again? And if so, what would happen next? Over the next few weeks, Alex found himself thinking about Jake more and more. He would catch himself daydreaming in class, imagining what it would be like to see Jake again. Emily noticed the change in Alex and teased him mercilessly about his "Mafia boss crush." Ryan, on the other hand, was more concerned. "Dude, you need to be careful," Ryan said one evening as they were studying for exams. "You don't know anything about this guy. He could be trouble." Alex sighed, feeling a bit defensive. "I know, Ryan. But I just can't help how I feel. And besides, Jake's not like that. He's... different." Ryan raised an eyebrow. "Different? What does that even mean?" Alex shrugged. "I don't know. It's just a feeling I get. Like he's not just some ordinary guy." Emily, who was sitting across from them, spoke up. "I think Alex is right, Ryan. There's something about Jake that's intriguing. And who knows? Maybe he's the one who can help Alex figure out what he wants to do with his life." Ryan shook his head. "You're both impossible. But hey, if it's what you want, I'll support you." As they packed up their books and headed home, Alex couldn't help but feel a sense of gratitude towards his friends. They might not fully understand his fascination with Jake, but they were willing to support him nonetheless. And as he drifted off to sleep that night, Alex couldn't help but wonder... would he ever see Jake again? Little did Alex know, fate had a way of bringing people together, even when they least expected it. And for Alex, that unexpected reunion was just around the corner... To be continued...
