The alpha's obsession

Her hands held a box, her feet sluggishly pacing in the dark while her sore eyes kept track of every path she took. Her heart was heavy as agony filled her up. Her void and thoughtless mind tried focusing as she was having a mixed reaction. To her, everything was lost and she had no where else to go but fond herself stucked between life and death. At this moment of life, it was over. She fought back the tears that had gathered in her eyes, sniffed and scrowled around. Her feets were taking her deeper into the woods. Dark tree trunks, shadows, overhanging limbs across the path seen at the last second, clumps of bushes, barely visible black trails snaking through the undergrowth, moon shining through a lattice of leaves, patchy sky and stars seen in glimpses through tree breaks, tall shadowed pines stretching up like arrows into the sky, streaks of cloud against the earth, Wind slipping through leaves, cracking undergrowth with each step, creaking tree trunks, the flutter of wings unseen, snapping twigs, grass and weed sliding against pant legs, breathing sounds, coyote calls, fox yipping, wolves howling, snarls, padding feet along a trail, a grunt of pain at catching a root or tripping on dead night. Fear at gripped her at this wild wood where she found herself as Cobwebs in the face, cold, dewy leaves sliding across skin, slipping on wet leaves and mushrooms, tripping on bumpy roots, stones, dead fall, thorns scratching skin, scrapes and cuts on hands from falling in the dark, pine needles embedded in skin during fall, twisting and jerking at every unfamiliar sound, holding hands out to ward off unseen obstacles like trees. It was creepy yet she chose to walk this path just not to be seen by anyone. Her feet suddenly stopped when a petrifying growl made her shudder from behind. Nervously, she shifted her gaze at where this sound came from and suddenly saw mauve eyes staring at her. She got glued to the spot she stood trembling yet kept a courage face as she gently dropped the box on her to the ground, stepped back a bit and folded her fist. These mauve eyes kept drawing close to her as she couldn't find herself running or searching for in such an isolated place. More adrenaline pumped in her body as these eyes tends to belong to an injured wolf. This wolf had a pup behind it and leaping towards this nervous girl who would have almost passed out but held her balance. The wolf's ears was flattened against its head but pointing forward. The forehead puckered and the brow elevated. The eyes narrowed, looking cross. The muzzle and nose puckered while its teeth bared and the tongue stuck out between them. The fur will be raised and the tail will be lowered or tucked in between its legs. While feeling uncertainty, the wolf seems confused as to whether it should submit to this strange, fight or flee with its pup. However, that couldn't happen because it was seriously injured almost losing its strength and needed assistant. Gently, it used the tip of its lips and dropped this pup to the ground while wincing at the lost girl before her who certainly thought this wolf would eat her up. The former could tell this wolf was a she and was trying to protect this pup from impending danger. It was like though she was communicating to this girl to save the life of her pup as she bow slowly her head and then collapsed. Everything happened so fast that the scared girl couldn't point out exactly this scene that was taking place. However what she knew was that she had to take care of this pup right in front of her as its body had believed he would be safe in her hands. "A pup?" Her lips manage to spat out as she stared at the adorable pup which was asleep and took it. Sadly, she glanced at its mother and heaved a sigh wondering how she would save her but doubts if any of her treatment would work on this lone wolf. She tugged the pup into her arms for warmth and drew closer to its mother who suddenly morphed into a human. Her breath was steady and her shut eyes flutters. "Run and keep him safe, he's our only hope..." She beckoned coughing out blood which got this girl startled as its mother keep whispering she runs away with the child. From the looks of it, this wolf believed in this girl whom she just met. She gave this wolf a nod, dumped her box and began to race as fast as she could. This night encounter was a big change in her life as she wasn't bothered about her previous tragedy but intended to safe a pup whose assurance she had given his mother. Few minutes after she had left with the pup, some wolves leaped out of the woods and found the injured woman on the ground. One of the wolf glared at this woman, trod around her, sniffed as its hackles were risen feeling aggressive and angry as suddenly it began howl drawing more wolves from their hideouts, scattering around the woods as they got the signal to search for the pup. he wolf's hackles will be raised if it's feeling aggressive or angry. The eyes widened, taking on a more wild look, and staring straight at the woman who was scampering for air. It's lips retracted and baring. Two wolves who were left with their leader had their fang and teeth expose excited to eat up the victim before them when given the signal. Their leader shifted it gaze at a box which had drawn his attention, it barked at the two wolves to step away from the woman and track the smell from this box. Once it saw that they had bounced away, it derail its steps back to this woman. Tear stream down her eyes on sighting him again. There were lot of puzzling questions that needed justification from this woman and only this wolf staring at her could answer them. "You broke...the...vow" she stuttered as though wishing to have a privacy earlier with this wolf and now she had the chance to. "You lied in the first place...I will...spare you if you tell me where he is" he communed and she spat out blood to the ground intending to rise but he pinned her to the ground with his paws firmly. Sadness filled her eyes as the only emotion running in her was the feeling of betrayal and hatred towards this wolf. She couldn't reply to his questions as all she was concerned about was the safety of her baby from those who would possibly harm him. As a mother, she could to any extent just to guarantee the safety of her child. She might not know the strange girl whom she met few minutes ago, but trust she would be worth taking care of her child. If she ever suffers from this ruthless wolf, she certainly would take her child back from the stranger. Her pup was the only reason she would strive to live. However, her strength was failing her as she the thought of death now captures her mind. Perhaps, she wouldn't make it to see her pup. A wry smile left her as she coughed gently. "Where's my son!" He barked and the only word she could utter before drawing her last breath was; "Why"
