I wake up at 6am and get ready for work walking the quarter mile from the lake house to my grandfather's store

" morning papa"

"Morning Poochie you have visitors in the back" I groan "Already I haven't even finished my coffee"

He chuckles kissing my head as I pass "Just remember they birthed you"

"Yeah and you birthed her doesn't make them less dreadful"

I head to the back room where my parents are sitting like they own the place, "So were you just not going to tell us you are staying in Lakeside this summer"

I look at my father "That was the plan yes"

"We deserve to know where you are Elizabeth"

I turn to my mom "No you don't you signed your parental problems over to Papa when I went to college beside that I am a whole a$$ adult I owe no explanation to anyone"

"Yet you are still part of my pack"

I stare at my dad "For now it is your pack Until the Merge at the end of the summer. So did you just come here to chastise me or do you need something else? Because I need to work"

"I need you to sign this" he slides a paper over toward me

"And that is what exactly?"

"It's the merger agreement for the packs"

I am so confused "Why would I need to sign that?"

My mother groans "To state you are in agreement to the arranged marrige"

I gulp looking at her like she just spewed lava "Arranged what!"

My father sighs "If you or the pending Alpha do not find fated mates in the next three years you will marry that is the grounds of the merger that is the grounds of any pack merger. You should find yourself lucky we are even giving you 3 years"

"Lucky! is that a joke"

"Poochie are you okay?"

I turn looking at my grandfather "No fickle 1 and Fickle 2 are selling me off to complete their pack merger"

"Oh grow up elizabeth your father and I are not selling you off it is an agreement and you have 3 years to find a mate"

My grandfather waves his hands getting in front of me " hold on a second you come in here tell me you are worried about your daughter because you didn't make it to her College graduation all as a ploy to get her to sign a marriage arrangement because FIckles grandfather sold the land you are trying to regain to the Blood Forrest in the first place?"

"This isn't your business old man!"

I jump infront of my grandfather as my father stands up angrily "Don't you dare come near him! Here" I sign the papers picking them up to hand them back he goes to reach for them and I jerk them away "Stay the f*ck away from Lakeside and this store I do not want to hear one peep out of either of you this summer if I do I will personally destroy your entire merger do I make myself clear"

they both nod and I hand the papers back walking out "Poochie you shouldn't have done that, you know it is harder for you to find your fated"

I sigh turning to my grandfather "I know Papa but I want the merger for the school system so if there is a chance I will have to marry some egotystical jerk for the future of those kids I will"

he sigh putting his hand on my shoulder "Always worried about others more than yourself just like your grandmother"

I giggle hugging him "Now get to work Pooch you got rid of the nucencess at least for the summer"

"Elizabeth?" I turn to my mother "The combining ceremony is on Labor day you should be there to meet your possible husband"

I nod and she walks away "Papa im working with you to cater the Labor day party here"

He chuckles and we both get to work afterwards I meet the girls at the house change and head down to the shore

"Hey can we come by?"

" Um we are still at the shore I got some smoke on me if you guys would like to join us"

"Sounds chill be there soon"

the guys get there and we all sit around smoking I lay back to tan as the others head to the water " what you don't swim"

I sigh "It has just been a long day and I am not very social at the moment"

He chuckles leaning back hes about 3 ft from me I look over and he smiles "It's been a hell of a day for sure"

I nod looking back up "tell me about it"

" You mean that or you just being passive?"

I sit up looking at him like he is stupid "Smarta$$ yes, cocky at times but I have never and will never be passive when I say things like that I am being genuine"

He looks at me and smiles "Yeah you definently are a smarta$$"

I pick up my water bottle and throw it at him laughing " and you are a cocky prick"

He sits up throwing it back as he chuckles "Maybe but I always speak the truth"

I laugh laying down again "So how was your day really?"

"Working with my father is never ideal he never actually asks my opinion just tells me how it is."

"Yeah i understand that too well"

He looks over at me " are your parents like that?"

"Um sort of we don't speak much, they signed me over to my Grandfather when I left for college, I mean they still try to tell me what to do but that doesn't go over well my grandfather is just about as stubborn as I am"

He chuckles "I don't know about that you are pretty stubborn"

"And you are pretty nosey, now how bad was your day?"

He turns toward me "I mean not all bad Luke and Mike suffered with me and we make things fun just makes it less fun when my dad barks orders"

I sigh turning toward him "At least you have them right?"

"Yeah.... Hey do you think we can get some of that hydration stuff for work?'

I smile "My grandfather sells it at the general store you can come by tomorrow and grab some, I might give you a friends discount"

"Oh just might?"

I roll my eyes moving back to my back after a while we all head back to the house and smoke and hang out for then night. Besides my parents being total a$$hats it has been a pretty good first day at Lakeside overall.
