s**t, what was I supposed to do? Everybody is going to be mad at me, but could I send Brandon away? Taking a deep breath, I walked downstairs.
Reaching the last step, I saw Brandon standing by the door in a tight white shirt and jeans that were made for his body. His hair slicked back and two dozen roses in his hands. I couldn’t help but smile. I had never received flowers before. I had only really dated a couple guys during high school and right after I graduated.
Alpha Bryan and Luna were standing at the side waiting for me to enter the room.
“You look beautiful.” Brandon said the moment I stepped off the stairs and started walking toward them.
“Thank you.” I said as I stood in front of him.
“These are for you.” He said, handing me the flowers. As I took them from him, I could see the nervousness in his face.
“They are beautiful. Thank you.”
“Would you like me to take those and put them in water?” Luna Liv said, reminding me we were not alone.
“Yeah, thank you.” I said, handing the flowers to Luna Liv.
“Where are the two of you off to tonight?’ Alpha Bryan asked.
“It’s a surprise.” Brandon said, smiling at me.
“Have fun.” Alpha Bryan said as he walked away with Luna Liv.
“Shall we go?” He said, putting his arm out for me to take.
I smiled and placed my arm in his. The tingles spread through our touch. He walked me to his rental and opened the door. Once he made sure I was in, he walked around to the driver's side and got in.
“I’m really glad you decided to come to dinner with me. I can’t seem to stop thinking about you.” He glanced over at me.
“I’ve been thinking about you too.” I whispered back. This was a bad idea. The more time I spent with him, the harder it was to walk away.
“Do you fly home tomorrow?” I asked, changing the subject.
“The day after. Unless you want me to stay.”
“Brandon….”
“I’m joking, sort of. But I won’t put you in that position.”
The rest of the drive was pleasant and I couldn’t get over how much the two of us had in common. I also noticed that for the things we didn’t have in common, we seemed to level each other out.
This was that point of a mate. Brandon was my perfect other half and I was his. Why did our lives have to be so complicated? Or why could I just not get over the Meredith situation? If I could just let it go, we could be together, but the situation would slowly eat me alive. I would always want to know why she was so great that he didn’t wait for me.
Would he compare me to her? I know it wasn’t always bad for them. Maybe he didn’t want another Luna after everything he had been through.
“What’s on your mind, my little Tigress?”
“Why do you call me Tigress?
He chuckled and took my hand in his. “You, my love, are fierce and passionate. Just like a tigress. I knew the moment I laid eyes on you and you yelled at me that you were the one that would not only steal my heart but keep the rest of me in my place.”
I couldn’t help but giggle. I guess the nickname does fit me.
“Now tell me what was running through your head just a few moments ago?”
“It’s not important.”
“Everything about you is important,” He said, bringing my hand to his lips and kissing my hand lightly.
“I was just thinking about us.”
“Hmm, that would explain the look on your face.”
“I’m sorry.”
“Don’t be sorry. Our situation is my fault but I promise I will fight for us and I will cherish every single moment I get to have with you.”
Moments later, he parked his car in front of a tiny little Italian restaurant.
“I hope you like Italian.”
“Who doesn’t?” I asked with a giggle as he jumped out of the car and opened my door.
Brandon let the waiter know of his reservation and we were taken to the back in a quiet corner. It was a small table with a single red rose in the middle of the table. The lighting was low and it looked so romantic.
He made sure to pull out my chair before sitting down himself. He ordered a bottle of wine and took my hand and placed a small kiss on the inside.
“Thank you for having dinner with me. I hope I didn’t make it too uncomfortable picking you up at the packhouse.”
“No, I guess if there is a chance for us to be together I shouldn’t hide it.”
He gave me a small smile but I couldn’t help but feel a little guilty.
He ordered chicken parmesan and I ordered the fettuccine alfredo. We talked about his pack and the progress it had made over the past year.
“You…You played a huge role in my success.” He said just as our food was put on the table.
“What?”
“From the moment I laid eyes on you I wanted you to be proud of me. I realized that day and the look in your eyes… you had so much disappointment.”
“Brandon”
“It’s ok I understand. I took a step back and realized what a s**t Alpha I had been. So thank you.”
“You’re welcome.”
We started to eat and I couldn’t help but get hot as I watched him eat. What the hell was wrong with me?
“How is it?” He asked right after I finished swallowing a bite.
“This has to be the best fettuccine I’ve ever eaten. Do you want a bite?”
“I would love a bite.”
Taking the fork, I swirled some fettuccine on the fork and took the fork to his mouth. He slowly took the bite and I have no idea how he made it look so sexy. Then he slowly licked his lips.
“Mmmm that is delicious.”
I could feel the heat coursing through my body. I grabbed the glass of water and took a huge gulp.
“Would you like to try mine?” He asked and, despite knowing he was talking about his food, I couldn’t stop the dirty thoughts that ran through my head. Unable to speak, I nodded my head yes.
He cut a bite for me and brought it to my lips. I never thought him feeding me could turn me on so much.
“Wow, that’s really good too.”
At that moment, all I wanted to do was leave the restaurant and climb the tall sexy man in front of me.
