Chapter 10

Brandon’s POV  Again, the witch hunt did not pan out. I would lose hope if it had not been for my night with Kat. I had been searching for a year without any luck. I just needed one light witch to help me. Just one.  Getting back to the hotel, I dropped myself onto my bed and stared at the ceiling. Should I call her?  ‘And tell her what?’ Grey said, sounding defeated.  ‘That I love her.’ ‘We are never going to find a witch that will help us. Which means we will never have our mate.’  ‘Grey! Stop being so negative.’ ‘We are one. I know you feel the same way.’ Picking up my phone, I flipped through the photos I had managed to snap of Kat. Drunk Kat was very willing to smile and allow me to take pictures of her. I held my breath and dialed her number.  “Hello?” She asked, sounding confused.  “Hey my tigress. How are you?” I asked, praying I didn’t come across as a creep.  “It’s been a really, really long day. But I just got home. Can I call you back?” Kat asked, sounding uneasy.  “Yeah of course.”  “On this number?”  I decided to take a quick shower before I ordered dinner to wait for my mate to call me back. Mark’s POV My feelings were all over the place. Kat will never know how grateful I was for her trying to find my mate. I know it was a long shot and the fact she was willing to try was amazing.  Grabbing some food from the kitchen, I decided to head back to my room. Before getting very far, I ran into Bryan and Liv. In normal packs, most members would refer to the Alpha and Luna by title, but we went through Elite training together and it made us a family. Stronger than any blood ever could.  “How are you holding up Mark?” Liv asked, giving a hug. “I trust Kat and her ability. So for now I am hopeful.”  “Kat is amazing at what she does and I have faith in her new ability,” Bryan said, patting my shoulder.  “Still not used to that!” Kat said, standing in front of us with Freya.  She was even more beautiful than I could remember. Her fire-red hair flowing over her shoulder and her bright green eyes staring right back at me. Her milky white skin makes her full lips look even fuller.  My wolf Flint, not holding back and pushing forward. Unable to control him, he scooped her up into our arms and took off towards our room. A giggle escaped her lips as I took the stairs two at a time.  Once in my room, I dropped her on my bed and pressed my lips to hers. Kissing her again made me feel complete. I kissed her down her neck and sucked gently on the spot where I would place my mark.  “Mark.” She said breathless, pushing me back gently. I pulled back and looked into her beautiful green eyes. “Hi.” was all I could think to say at that moment.  “I think we need to talk.”  I didn’t like the sound of that but I knew I needed to know why she ran from me. I also wanted to know why my little fairy was pretending to be a wolf. “ OK.” I said, sitting back and pulling her to me and causing her to straddle me. “Tell me my little fairy, why you ran from me.”  “You…You know I am a fairy? How is your pack so familiar with fairies?”  “We trained to be an Elite warriors. We study all supernatural beings. The second you materialized in front of us was a dead give away.” “You don’t care?”  “Do I care if you are a fairy? Not at all. You are mine.” I told her, kissing her gently on the lips.  “You still want to be with me?” Freya asked, looking at me with hope. “Yes baby. I want and I need you and I will keep you forever.”  The moment the words left my mouth, her lips found mine. All of her emotions were pouring into me. My hands falling to her hips and pulling her flush against me, letting her feel how much I wanted her.  She pulled away and I noticed a small frown on her face.  “I can’t stay with your pack. I don’t want to hurt you, but I’m sorry I just…can’t stay.”  “Then I will go with you.” Our knowledge about fairies was limited compared to other specifics but the fact she was not in Farie and if Kat found her she wasn’t living in Farie either. From her behavior I am guessing she is running and I will do anything to keep her safe.  “You would leave your pack for me?” She asked confused.  “What part of me keeping you forever was confusing. If that means I have to leave to be with you, then I leave.”  “I can’t ask you to leave your pack.” “You’re not asking. I’m telling.”  I could tell she didn’t know how to process my words. Her forehead furrows and she looks at me in confusion.  “This is not how I planned this to go.” She says pouting, and I couldn’t help but laugh.  “How did you plan this to go?”  “I assumed when you found out I was a fairy you would reject me.”  My wolf growled at her comment, startling her.  “Sorry Flint, my wolf didn’t like hearing you say anything about rejection.”  She looked down. “Sorry Flint.” “My fairy, you have no reason to be sorry,” Flint said as I allowed him control. She looked up and smiled. I knew my eyes were black now and I thought she might be scared, but she was smiling.  “I had no plan on telling you my story, but now if you are going with me it’s only fair if you know.”
