Chapter 4: "The Business Deal"
Lola's mind was racing with possibilities. She had a feeling that this was just the tip of the iceberg. She decided to pay a visit to the Okoye family business, to see if she could dig up any more information.
As she arrived at the office, she was greeted by a receptionist who showed her to the CEO's office. Mr. Okoye was sitting behind his desk, looking stern.
"Lola, what can I do for you?" he asked gruffly.
"I'm just following up on our conversation earlier," Lola replied. "I was wondering if you could tell me more about the company's financial dealings."
Mr. Okoye's expression turned guarded. "I'm not sure that's necessary," he said.
Lola smiled sweetly. "Oh, I think it's very necessary," she said. "You see, I have a feeling that something fishy is going on here. And I aim to find out what that is."
Mr. Okoye's eyes narrowed. "I don't know what you're talking about," he said.
Lola leaned forward. "Don't play dumb, Mr. Okoye. I know that your company is in financial trouble. And I have a feeling that you're desperate to get out of it."
Mr. Okoye's face turned red. "How dare you!" he exclaimed.
Lola stood up. "I dare because I'm a journalist, and it's my job to uncover the truth. And I will find out what's going on here, no matter what it takes."
As she left the office, Lola felt a sense of satisfaction. She had gotten under Mr. Okoye's skin, and she knew that she was on the right track.
She decided to do some more digging, and started by interviewing some of the company's employees. They all seemed nervous and on edge, and Lola could tell that they were hiding something.
One employee, a young woman named Sarah, seemed more willing to talk than the others. "Lola, I don't know what's going on, but something is definitely not right," she said. "The company is in trouble, and I think Mr. Okoye is desperate."
Lola's ears perked up. "What do you mean?" she asked.
Sarah hesitated. "I don't know if I should be telling you this, but... I've seen some strange transactions going through the books. Transactions that don't make sense."
Lola's eyes widened. "What kind of transactions?" she asked.
Sarah leaned in close. "Transactions that look like they're being used to launder money," she whispered.
Lola's heart raced as she realized the implications. She had stumbled upon something big, something that could bring down the entire company.
