Kaira sighed deeply as the Glimmer’s airlock door closed, shutting her and Tarkus off from the Corporate station. While she felt much better than she had at any point since the devices within her moved into their final phase, she hadn’t realised how much tension she’d been carrying until it slipped away. “I feel the same,” said Tarkus. “It feels good to get back to just the two of us and the Glimmer.” They walked out of the airlock and into the cargo hold. “Just the two of us, the Glimmer, and that!” said Kaira. That was the cargo the Corporation’s workers had loaded onto the Glimmer. It was a jet black box, low but long.
