Chapter 48
Melissa's POV:
I have trained many warriors in my time, and I could always tell which ones would survive and which ones wouldn't last. I had always tried to protect them, to train them as hard as I could. However, once I met Macey, I honestly thought she wouldn't last a day or two. But, she kept coming out of that house, jogging toward the warrior training ground, ready to train and spar. She was very determined to do this. So, I trained and sparred with her. Every time I would win, but every day she would get stronger, then she started watching my moves and mimicking them. She impressed me a lot. I knew it was just a matter of time before she would end up kicking my ass, and today was the day. I noticed she had an aura, and then I remembered that she was Rose's daughter. I was there at the club with her, though she didn't know I was there. I was there to find my mate. I was so tired of being alone. I'm over two hundred years old now, but if you look at me, you would think I was only in my twenties. I was already there when she showed up. I stood in the corner watching to make sure she was okay. Then, a man came into the club, sniffing the air. Wait, was this my mate? I did the same, but I didn't smell a scent, and it wasn't him. He was an alpha, and he was looking right at Rose. My mate was on the other side of the club, also sniffing the air. We locked eyes, and that's when we hurried to each other. We both said, "Mate, mine," at the same time. He was also a warrior, and he was from my pack. He was still young, about a hundred years old. He had been away for a while to travel and find his mate, but I was here all along. He was so happy, and so was I. I left the club with him, forgetting all about Rose. However, I knew who he was, and I'm hoping that soon, Rose will as well. She deserves to be happy.
I handed Macey a dagger, a dagger that was so powerful that it was made for alpha. And she was an alpha's daughter. I knew that once Macey finds out, she will go right to her mother. It's the reason why I told her about him. I just wish I knew his name so I could have told her, but I didn't have a clue about his name. All I knew was that he was an alpha. My mate should be home soon to train for a few hours. He had to be at work at the alpha's bank today, as he was the manager there, making sure everything went well. I couldn't wait to see him. I missed him. It was time to head inside and shower. I needed to get cleaned up so I could cook some lunch. I was starving.
Macey's POV:
After I had spoken to Melissa, then my wolf, I was freaking out. Why would she tell me all this? Why would my mother not tell me that my father was an alpha? Is this the reason why I'm stronger than others? Why was my wolf stronger than normal? I was so confused. So, I decided to head to see my mother. I knew she was at the house alone, and I still had a few hours before I had to be at the warrior's house, so I went to see her. I wasn't sure if I should walk into the house or knock, so I just knocked a few times.
‘Macey, you can come inside. You don't have to knock; this will always be your home.’ So, I walked inside. She was sitting down on the couch with a book in her hand and a glass of wine on the table. I sat beside her. I think she knew I wanted to talk because she put the book down on the table.
‘Alright young lady, what do you have on your mind?’ She raised an eyebrow at me. I wanted to laugh because she looked so funny when she did that. After taking a deep breath, I started to tell her what Melissa had shared with me. I even showed her the crystal dagger she had given me. When I was done, the look on her face was amusing. She had no clue he was an alpha; I could tell by her expression. Picking up the glass of wine on the table, she gulped it down and poured another glass. She drank that down and poured another.
‘Mom, slow down, you didn't know.’
‘No, I didn't know. I was drunk, honey, and I'm sorry, but you weren’t even thought of at that time. I was drowning my sorrows; I was tired of being alone. He came up asking if he could buy me a shot; I said yes. The next thing I knew, I was waking up in a hotel room. I hurried to get dressed, and then I got out of there before he had woken up. I was embarrassed, but that's when you started forming inside of me. A few weeks went by, and I met Roger; everything was going well until I had you. Then he started drifting away from me; it's only his fault. He did this all on his own. But we are happy, aren't we? I mean, do we really need a man to run the house?’ I sighed again and told her.
“Mom, you don't need anyone. You take care of this house all by yourself. But do you ever think of him? Do you ever wonder what he's doing or if he even thinks of you?”
‘You know what? Yes, I do. I think of him all the time now. I wonder if he even looked for me or if he even thinks of me. He probably has a chosen mate, but I'm not really sure. If the time comes that we cross paths, I would love to talk to him and see. But right now, I'm taking care of myself and you, and that's all that matters, right?’ ‘I nodded and said “Right,” but in the back of my head, I wondered if my father even knew about me, if he even thought of my mother. I wish I knew where he was; I would love to get to know him.
