Chapter 39
Zexy Alpha Dean's Mate POV
I've always known I would end up with Dean. When we were kids, he would always help me shovel sand in my sandbox. We would play together with the other kids as well. When we got into school, we had several classes together. Then one day, we had to split because we weren't sure if we were mates or not. So for a while, we would date other people. It never lasted long. We would always end up back together. It was on and off like this for so many years. But once he came of age, he started acting weird. He wanted to be closer to me. He would growl at my boyfriend, and the guy would break up with me the next day. I didn't really care because I only dated because I wasn't sure if Dean was my mate. Then one day, I came of age and smelled my mate's scent. I followed it all the way to the Alpha's office. You should have seen my face when I figured it out. I asked him why he didn't tell me. I already knew the answer. You can't tell a younger wolf they are mates until they are of age. That is the law of the supernatural. My thoughts got interrupted when Luna of the pack started speaking. I wasn't sure if I could trust her, but I would be asking a few questions.
"Luna Zexy, would you like to take a walk around the pack grounds while they talk?" I'm sure she wanted to speak with me, so I smiled sweetly at her and then said, "Sure, why not? You can show me around your land while they talk. I'm not sure why you don't have an office." She smirked at me, shaking her head. I knew this was just the start of our conversation.
"Oh, I have an office. It's the hall over there. Come on, I'll show you. He has no clue what I've done to it because, well, he never comes out here unless someone is here to visit or just wants to piss someone off," I couldn't help but laugh when she said that. This was all just so much to understand. We walked toward a building that looked too small to be anything else. Opening the door, we both went inside. Then she shut the door and turned on the lights. There was nothing in here but an old desk, a small computer, a couple of old photos, and many weapons. What was this girl up to in here? There was a nice couch with a chair beside it. She sat down on the couch, so did I.
"So, Mrs. Zexy, what would you like to talk about? I'm an open book. You can ask me anything." Yeah, okay, an open book. We will see about that, I sat there for a while, looking around the place. It did look nice, but she should have more than this small building.
"Honey, listen to me, okay? You deserve better than this. Why sit here in this small area? Why hasn't he set you up an office inside the pack house?" I knew I was asking a lot, but I needed to know these things.
‘Well for starters, I am a chosen mate, so why bother to give me an office,” that was his saying. Second, I like it here; it keeps me quite away from him. I don't want to be set up in the pack house. If I could help it, I would sleep out here. But then, he would notice I wasn't there. We don't even sleep in the same bedroom. The she-wolf he rejected has left months ago. He doesn't know I know all the messages he sends her and all the voicemails he sends as well. He thinks I'm so blinded by love for him, but the truth is he's making me hate him. The way he acts, talks, and does things - I can't stand him anymore. We were invited to the warrior challenge, and I'm going. He's going because he thinks Angela will be there, and he will take her. I'm fed up. By the way, the only reason why the pack is outside is that they were told to be there when you arrived, or they would get into trouble. I don’t want your mate to say anything because I'm handling things behind his back. Once I win my match, I'm challenging him for his title. Please let the elders know about this, but make sure your mate doesn't say anything, play dumb for a bit, at least until I can beat him. I've been training every day for this. I have gone to other alphas to get trained; they know what I want to do, so they train me. I have to be careful, though, because if he smells another alpha around me, he will get angry.”
This girl is telling me everything—no need for more questions, but I do have one to ask.“Is this the girl he had the death warrant for? Did she only burn her house down, or did she burn more than just that?” she laughed and said, “She only burnt her house down, that's it. She left with everything she owned and then burnt the house down. She didn't do anything else. I don't even think she did wrong when she did that. When he learned that she was the strongest warrior at the warrior camp, she was going to be the top warrior, but he made me the top warrior, and I didn't know anything about fighting. I had to learn from the others and the alphas I've been training with. I know I'm not innocent in all of this, but he's a jackass that needs to be put down. I'm the person to do it.” Nodding, I quickly mind-linked Dean to let him know everything. I advised him not to go too hard on her and to let her do this, and then I shut off the link.
“Alright, Mrs. Carrie, I know about the warrior challenge. We will be there as well, and I will be cheering you on. You must be careful with this because we hear that he is very sneaky. If you need our help, let us know, okay?”
‘I will definitely let you know. Come on, let's start walking back to the pack house; everyone is already inside.’ We left the small building to head back to the pack house. While we were walking inside, they came out of the office. Dean wrapped his arms around me, then kissed my cheek; he's always done this when we were just a few minutes away from each other. Roman, on the other hand, just stood there watching us, then looked at Carrie. He smiled and said,
‘Alpha Dean, it was a pleasure having you here. I hope you will come back to have dinner with us soon.’
‘We will see, but we must head out. We need to get back to our home so we can tend to it. Come, my love, let's get going,’ grabbing my hand, we walked out of the house to the car. And of course, he opened the car door for me. I got inside and waited until he got into the driver's side. We drove home, and then he told me everything that Roman had said, and I told him everything else that she had said.
‘She's starting to hate him with everything he has done. She is starting to hate him.
That's weird because he told me they were in love, and she agrees with everything he does.’ We shook our heads as we drove home, talked some more about it, and I agreed that I would help her defeat him if needed.
