Chapter 61
Macey POV
Ricks and I were talking, really getting to know each other. He told me he wanted to meet my mother, and I already knew Dad was familiar with him since he had invited Ricks to the ceremony.
He was holding my hand, looking into my eyes. Me, on the other hand, I was nervous. I’d never really been with anyone before. The only thing I’d ever done was kiss someone, and that was during a stupid game of spinning the bottle. We had to go into the closet and kiss for fifteen minutes—but we only kissed for a few minutes. The rest of the time, we just stood there talking. The kiss itself wasn’t even that good.
Now, though, all I could think about was him kissing me.
I kept looking at his lips, then back at his eyes. Maybe I was giving him some kind of a hint because he leaned over and kissed me.
Sparks rushed through my body, lighting me up from the inside out. It was the most amazing kiss I’d ever had, even though it only lasted a few moments. When he pulled back, my wolf whimpered, wanting more. I had to gently tell her we needed to wait.
We started talking again, this time about his pack. It was called the Wolf Biker Pack. His father had given him the title when he got sick and needed to focus on getting better. The pack fixed up bikes and sold them, and Ricks even owned a few of his own.
We were so caught up in our conversation that we didn’t hear my parents walk up.
A loud growl snapped us out of it.
We looked over to see my father standing there, clearly angry that we were holding hands. Ricks immediately stood up.
“Sir,” he said respectfully. “You know me. Your daughter is my mate, and I swear to you I will never hurt her. You know my parents—they raised me right. They’d kick my ass themselves if I ever hurt my mate. If you want, I’ll do a blood bond with you to prove I’ll treasure her.”
“There’s no need, Ricks,” my father said. “You gave me your word, and that’s enough. But I promise you this—any time she calls me and tells me you made her cry, I’ll have your head in my hands.”
He paused, then continued, “It’s too late for y’all to leave tonight. You can sleep in her room. I’ll have Gen get the truck ready tomorrow so you can put her things in it.”
“Sir, if you don’t mind, she doesn’t need those. She can keep her things here. I’ll get her all new clothes—whatever she wants.”
Hello, I’m right here, I thought. They were talking like I wasn’t even present. I needed to ask a few questions before I decided whether I was going to go with this guy.
“Hey,” I said, stepping forward. “You know I’m right here. Before I go anywhere, I need to ask something. I’m a warrior, and I plan to stay one. Is that going to be a problem? Because I’m not the type to wear dresses and throw little parties. I train every single day to stay strong. Will that be an issue for you?”
He laughed softly, then looked at me with clear amusement.
“Of course not. I think it’s amazing that you’re a warrior. Even our omegas train so they can fight and defend themselves. The only ones who don’t train are the elderly and pregnant females. The pups start training at ten—we break them into groups by age. The older they get, the tougher the training becomes.”
“We do that here as well. Good for you, Ricks.”
Daddy turned to me, his expression gentle. “Macey, it’s up to you, honey. If you want to leave tonight, you can. If you want to leave in the morning, that’s fine too. And if you don’t want this at all, you can reject him. This is your decision.”
Do I really want to leave tonight or tomorrow? Do I want to reject this sexy man—or do I want him as my mate?
I didn’t just want him. I knew I wanted him as my mate.
“Daddy,” I said softly, “can we leave tomorrow? I want us to have breakfast together as a family before I go—so we can say goodbye the right way
“Honey, it’s never a goodbye because we will always see each other. We’ll visit, and I’m sure you’ll always visit us. You go upstairs and get some rest. And Ricks, I’m sure you’ll want to be in your own home when you and my daughter mate. There will be no mating under my roof until it’s official.”
“No sir,” he said firmly. “There will be no mating until after the ceremony. I’ve already linked my mother—she’s putting everything together. So, no worries about that.”
“Good. Alright, y’all have a good night. We’re heading outside to let everyone know to call it a night. It’s late, and we’ve got things to do tomorrow.”
We headed upstairs. When we reached my room, I opened the door, and he scooped me up effortlessly, walking inside and kicking the door shut behind us. He set me back on my feet, then pulled me close, wrapping his arms around me.
“He said we couldn’t mate under his roof unless it’s official,” he murmured, “but he didn’t say I couldn’t kiss you.”
He lifted me again and pressed a long, lingering kiss to my lips. His tongue demanded entrance, and I let him in. We kissed like that for several minutes before he finally set me down.
My legs felt like jelly.
If he could kiss this well, I couldn’t help but wonder what else he could do with that tongue. I shook my head, trying to clear my thoughts.
What am I thinking? Geez
