Chapter 28
Hunter POV
After I got off the phone with the Lycan alpha Ram, I felt a little bit better. I'm not sure how she would feel that I'm having people track her down so I will know where she is right now. I just wanted to know that she is okay. I made my rounds and then back to the bedroom. The workers are doing an amazing job. It should be done in another week or two. The bedroom was a lot bigger and wider. The bathroom is even bigger. The walk-in closet looked like another bedroom. There was still so much to do, like the balcony. I wanted it wider, so when we have pups, they could go out there and play. The closet was big, so I could put maybe a crib in there, at least for the first few months, then we could put the baby in the nursery. I had so much in my head that I wanted to do. I wanted to try and make sure she is comfortable when she gets home if she gets home.
Macey POV
It's been four days since I have been in the new recruit's cabin. I've seen a few of them leave. The training gets tougher each time we come out. There were about twenty-four of us left. We were trying to keep each other going. We were outside when Mrs. Evans started speaking with us.
"Alright guys, next week we will be sparring. I want to know what kind of fighting you can do, but I swear if you try to hurt each other, you will be suspended, and you will be kicked out. We are not here to hurt each other. We are here to help each other become strong warriors to fight beside each other during hard times. So next week is going to be called Hell week. We get out here at three a.m., doing warm-ups, and then we spar. If you're sore, get over it. If you feel like you can't get up, get up anyway. I want you to try and try hard. What happens if a rogue comes and tries to harm a pup or take away a pup? What are you going to do? I hope not to just stand there and watch it happen. I hope you will kill the son of a b***h. So today we are going to do some leg work. I want you to put on these ankle weights and then go run eighty laps. Yes, the weights will weigh you down, but you still need to get it done. So, let's get it done." Has Mrs. Evans gone nuts? Ankle weights? She's trying to kill us. We placed them on, and right away, I felt the weight of them on my legs. But I didn't care. I saw my dad watching, I knew he was on top of the guard station, and I knew he was looking our way. I needed to prove I could do this. The other day, he looked at me and then growled at me. Why in the world did he do that for? I shrugged it off. I don't live there anymore. I was starting to not like my dad at all.
"Alright, I want to see those laps, people. Get those feet moving." We started running. I could feel the weights on my ankles. They made my legs heavy. Even though I think that was the idea, I was huffing on the twentieth lap, but that's okay. We needed this. My wolf kept cheering me on.
“We can do this, girl. Come on, show that a**hole what you can do.” She gave me some of her strength. We were almost there when one of us dropped on the track. I hurried over to her, helping her up. Then, I told her, “You're not stopping, not now, you're not. Come on, let's get this done together.” She nodded, and then we both started running again. There were only five laps to go. We counted each time we circled the track - one, two, three, four, and then five. We were laughing on the last one. As we circled the track, everyone was cheering us on. I could have finished already, but I was helping Cherry finish. Everyone cheered when she finished. She dropped to the ground, coughing and trying to catch her breath. I handed her a bottle of water. She quickly drank it down, and then Kevin handed her another. She stood up, drank some of that, and then she was fine.
"Alright, good job, everyone. But we're not done yet. By the time you leave today, you are going to be tired. Your legs are going to be burning, and so will your whole body. Put these wrist weights on your wrists. I want to see those push-ups, sit-ups, pull-ups, leg lifts, and squats. I want to see all of them. Come on, let's see them - one, two, three, four. Let's get this done." This was going to be hard, but I couldn't let myself stop. I couldn't let myself give up. So, I did what I was told to do. We did it until she told us to stop. She warned us the training was going to get rougher and rougher, and boy, she wasn't lying.
