Chapter 5 Darius POV

" You really think you're f*cking alone in this, don't you ?" He's snarling at me, his eyes flashing and lips curled back into thin lines. The truth was no, I didn't, but I had this burning anger in me that was making me irrational. It was making me say sh*t that I'd never say, like word vomit lashing out before my brain had time to process it all. " F*ck off Dante, why are you always in my f*cking face man. Leave me the f*ck alone to deal with my sh*t "I spat at him , I didn't mean it. It was a fast and instant punch to the face that whiplashed my neck back.

I went to throw a punch back, but he moved quickly, almost too quick. Sh*t Hybrids moved slower. I didn't know how to fight as a hybrid. A taunting laugh comes from Dante and the anger burns deeper. I can feel the animal within me literally pacing back and forth. Don't wolves hear their animals? I always thought they did. Why couldn't I hear mine? " Dante don't push him, he doesn't know how to control his wolf yet ", Cage stated. I whipped my head up and saw most of the men now surrounding us.

Dante had caught up to me easily, before I'd even left the dark forest. It was Cage that was speaking, but Dante, being the cocky sh*t I know and love, pays no mind to the warnings he's being given. " F*ck his wolf, he can't catch me anyway, he needs to get his head out of his ass. He's hurting his mate by being a stubborn i***t" he flies at me again.

This time, I was more prepared and kicked my foot out, landing it in the center of his chest. He flies through the air and lands on his feet. " Both of you stop it. This won't solve anything ", Cole sighs, but my focus is on Dante now.

It felt almost not my own choice. The animal had seen him as a threat, and now he had zoned in on him. He had to be taken out, or he had to submit. I could feel my skin tingling all over my body like ants running along the surface. " Darius don't, you haven't connected with your wolf properly yet, you need to make the connection so you're in charge, so you can talk to him and make him stand back. If he takes over, it won't be you fighting at this point " Mathew shouts. I'm guessing he sees the signs I'm about to change. " How do I do that? " I feel like I can't talk properly and don't recognize my own voice.

" You have to learn to control him, you have to basically mentally beat him into submission. If you don't, that's where rouges come from. Their wolves take over their minds and become feral. As much as I hate saying it and so does my wolf trust me. They are like a dog that has to be trained ". A loud snarl rips through my head, causing me to wince" Why did I have full control to begin with ?". Cage steps forward closer to me. His stance is fight-ready, his eyes staring at my hands.

Looking down, I saw fur sprouting up my arms. " He had just awoken. He would have been groggy and weak then, but now he isn't and your wolf is strong, he's the next high howler. He will be faster, stronger, more headstrong than any other wolf. He will also have a gift. Each high howler has a different gift ". Dante stepped closer and my eyesight turned yellow. The talking had been distracting me, but my wolf wasn't giving in. My skin feels tighter and tighter." He's changing Dante. He's after you watch yourself," Cage shouts.

Bones start snapping and cracking, I feel my own mind becoming not my own, like I was being pushed back as an on-looker within my own mind. Before I realize it, I'm no longer in control. I see through the wolf's eyes as he sprints for Dante. Dante's ready and leaps out the way but the wolf doesn't quit. The others join in the fight, trying to pin the wolf, but he snaps and snarls, swiping his claws out at them. " Stop, they're our family, stop it " I shout with no reply.

He must realize he's outnumbered. His attention turns to Cage and Mathew. He stands tall, stalking towards them. I don't understand what's happening until I see them start to drop to their knees. " Turn ", I hear in a deep, gravely voice. It's not me he's talking to though. Both men in front of me had pained expressions on their faces.

" Dante get out of here " Cage grits out. " I said TURN "It's instant and fast. Where Cage and Mathew were now standing, two wolves' heads down. " You will fight with me" said the voice again. " No, Stop, do not hurt him " I shouted, and I got ignored.

The ignorant piece of sh*t turns, his target once again set. This time he has his back-up, the guys look worried. These are our family. They didn't want to fight, but my wolf was controlling them. He leaps again, and the vampires have no choice but to defend themselves. They now have three wolves on them. Blood gets drawn, and the fight gets messy all the while. I can't do a thing. It's when my wolf has Dante pinned his teeth bared and the thirst for blood is strong. I can feel or, rather, I get the strength to do what I need to do.

His teeth latch onto Dante's arm and pierce the skin. Dante punches the wolf's big head over and over, but he doesn't budge. I feel the teeth start to rip into his skin and touch the bone. Dante was going to die. I could see Dante looking at me. Well, the wolf with forgiving eyes, he knew too. With everything I have, I push myself back into my own subconscious. " ENOUGH You will submit to me, you are in my body, you are my counterpart. You will not lead. I am the ALPHA " I roar in my own mind.

The wolf lets Dante free and steps back. He sits back on his hind legs snarling. I looked to see the other two wolves stop their attack. They quickly changed back. Their faces were distraught as they looked at their friends who were hurt and bleeding.

" It's about time you let go of your pity party " the dark gravely voice in my mind says.

" Why did you do that? You know these are family ?" I snapped at him. He laughs lowly " Because you were acting weak, we are not weak, we are the strongest of our kind. Your darkness, you and me, we have to become one, or you'll simply go mad. What better way to get you to take control of your sh*t than to threaten those you love? Except Anya, who is our mate, she stays out of it " he adds on.

I watch as everyone stands around me wary, so I lay the wolf down. Show them the threats over while we have our talk.

"Do you have a name ?" I asked him, and he was silent for a while. When he speaks, his voice is a little softer. "Mother called me Vax ".

" Who's mother to you ?" I ask. I'm met with an irritated growl.

" Moon Goddess, you'd know that if that, so-called family of yours wasn't absolutely barbaric. I should have been with you and connected to you since you were a teen. Instead, I had to wait. My mother was getting ready to step in. She didn't want to be the one to have to tell you about me. She didn't like coming to this mortal realm. She was glad when the witch Emily began to suss you out. That's why she decided to help by giving you power in the war. She was grateful. You now have a lot to learn in little time and I had to man you up, as the humans say ". I snort at his words and I hear him do a weird chuff laugh sort of thing.

" Think I can change back now, so I can explain to my brother why you savagely attacked him " another huff.

"That was nothing you will soon learn of my strength and power, but for now you must make amends with our mate. She is not happy with you ". I internally wince. " Yes, she is waiting for you, so I suggest you do not take this telling off with your tail between your legs. You must grovel, I'm afraid, but only for our mate shall we be weak "he demands.

I feel my body start to change, and my eyesight starts to turn back to its normal color.

When I fully turned back, a very pissed-off Dante was staring at me, hands crossed over his chest. " I'm sorry, Vax he had a point to make, and he knows I love you. He wanted me to snap out of my bulls*t and take control, attacking you was his answer ". I stood up, holding my hands up in surrender. He raises an eyebrow at me.

" Did it work ?" he asks. I rub the back of my neck assessing how I feel. I feel more stable, clearer-headed. The rage inside me feels only a simmer. Grinning, I nodded my head. Dante turns his frown into a smile.

He walks over to me, placing his hand on my shoulder. He looks directly in my eyes. " I'm guessing Vax is the silver-haired biter ". I laughed, nodding my head. " Then Vax if you can hear me, your welcome, but next time, remember I'm not a damm chew toy " he grins and pokes playfully.

I hear the weird laugh again." I like him, "he says in my mind.

" He gets the message. I think you've just got his approval " I tell Dante. Dante rolls his eyes, standing up straight. " Let's head back. The girls will be worried. Later, when you've taken your verbal lashing off Anya, let's face it, your getting one. We will meet up, and we will discuss the next steps as a family. If I have to drill that into you anymore, I'm going to beat the sh*t out of you. I'm sure Vax would gladly stay inside while I do it" Dante snaps and checks out his arm. Blood was all over his clothes, but the wound was healing.

" Yes I would. We need these people. They are not a pack like I would prefer, but they are very loyal from what I saw when me and mother were watching" Vax states.

Great. Now I feel ganged up on. Looking down at myself, bollock naked, I sigh. The next thing I know, clothes appear on my body, Cage's and Mathew's. We all look shocked at each other, the girls aren't here to do that. Then a tinkling laugh happens and Fero appears, his face full of mischief. He fans his face. " Wow you men are all kind of hot ".

Tiron appears he's looking at Fero annoyed. " Hope you men don't mind that I dressed you ". He says never taking his eyes off Fero, he just giggles again. " We wasn't missing that fight , Darius, your wolf is called Vax did you say ? ". His quizzical eyes turned to me.

I nod my head, and he grins, clapping his hands." What ?" I snap. He pretends to zip his mouth up and disappears. Tiron looks at me, eyes wide. " We will be back ". Then he's gone.

It's Cole that growls, " Great surprises or something to happen. Why is everyone so cryptic if they know something? Why not just say it? Instead of keeping us all in suspense", he throws his hands up.

I had to agree, now I was worried about what those two knew. " Don't be it will be revealed after you go to our mate and grovel. Then have s*x with her. You need to have s*x with her. She makes me want to have s*x all the time "Vax barks at me in my mind. I cringed at the fact I now had a constant onlooker, one that was very horny, it seems. Was my mate, not just mine anymore ? I'm going to have to talk with Mathew and Cage in a way. I felt jealous she was mine. A deep growl sounds in my head again, and I take off. My thoughts will never be my own either, by the looks of it.
