The Alpha's Road to Freedom

{Unknown P.O.V} The rain was coming down so thick and fast, I could barely see my own hand in front of my face. I was so cold, so hungry and so tired I just wanted to stop. I needed to stop. Keep going Maia. We’re nearly there, it will all be worth it. Kendra, I can’t. It’s too much, it’s too far… Yes. You can. Just keep going. Don’t give up. I’m so sorry Kendra, I thought I could do this but I can’t. I’ve let us down, I am so sorry… MAIA – NO!!! I hit the ground so hard I heard at least two bones crack as I felt my head smash against the tarmac. Searing pain shot through my whole body and as the scream ripped through my lips, my eyes rolled to the back of my head. All I could see was darkness and my body finally gave into the rain. {UNKNOWN P.O.V} “ARRRGHHH, WHERE IS SHE???” I yelled to the sound proof walls of my office. I pressed my fingers to my temples, closed my eyes and tried to think about where she could possibly be, how did she even escape? She knew how important this week was. She knew this was the week that everything and everyone became mine. She also knew how essential she was to making this happen and if she didn’t, she knew the consequences that would thunder down on her remaining family. Maybe they know where she is I thought quickly. I guess I need to rattle some chains to find out… Cole, meet be by the dungeons. NOW.  I mind linked my second in command. I would do whatever I needed to do to get her back. {Maia’s P.O.V} My head was pounding and my whole body was throbbing. I tried to open my eyes so I could carry on my journey but couldn’t, they felt almost forced shut. I kicked in my other senses and I could feel that I was somewhere where I shouldn’t be. I sniffed the air and all I could smell was a strong smell of bleach… and blood. I tried to open my eyes again, but nothing. I tried to move my aching body, but it sent a jolt of pain throughout ever inch of my being. I opened my mouth to scream but not even a whisper fell from my lips. Kendra, where are we, what is happening to us? Kendra, answer me… please?! Nothing. What was going on? Why couldn’t I speak with Kendra? Why could I smell blood?  “How is she doing Doc?” a husky, serious voice sounded far away. “She is doing better but she still isn’t in great shape. Not only does she have a serious head injury, she also has a fractured wrist and so many cuts and bruises across her body. Interestingly though some of them see much older then a day old… Anyway, it’s a good job you brought her in when you did. How did you even find her?” “I was running with Aiden and heard her scream and then smelt her blood. If it wasn’t for that, I never would have been able to, the storm was one of the worst I have ever seen. Why was she ever out there? What reason could she possibly have?” the husky voice ponded again. I wasn’t 100% sure before, but I knew now, they were talking about me. The first man referred to the second as Doc which must mean I was in a hospital – werewolf or human I don’t know, I could only smell bleach and blood. I took a deep breath which made my ribs wince in pain, this is not how today was supposed to go. I need to get back to my family, if my pack notice I am missing, they will hurt them and I was doing everything I could to protect them. I needed to go, I needed to get back to them. At that moment I heard the two men enter the room “Ah, I see she is still sleeping. I am surprised her body hasn’t healed more than this yet. Hopefully soon she will wake and you can get your answer for why she was out and about. Do you recognise her at all?” “Thanks Doc, just let Ezra know when she is awake. I have stuff to deal with so don’t know when I can next come back but no I don’t, I don’t recognise her at all.” “Yes, Alpha, of course I will speak with Beta Ezra” and I felt the man leave the room. Alpha? Beta? What? So I am at a werewolf hospital? What pack could I possibly be at? I wasn’t aware there were any near us? What on earth is happening? Kendra? I really need your help… Please? After not getting even a whisper from Kendra, I felt the doctor put something into my arm and the darkness consumed me once more. {Unknown P.O.V} Cole met me at the top of the stairs to the dungeons with a huge grin on his face. “So, what did you need me for Cain? You know this is my favourite place to go, nothing kicks the day off like an interrogation or two.” “Maia has escaped and I can’t find her.” I say matter of fact as I unlocked the door and started to descend the stairs. “WHAT? What do you mean she has escaped? HOW?” Cole shouted at me in shocked response. “I have no idea, I am hoping we can get some answers out of her family. She must have told them what she was up to. She knew how important this week was for me. For us… As a pack, I mean.” I looked at him from the corner of my eyes to see if he noticed my slight slip. Although this would benefit the pack in some small way, it would benefit me more and that’s what truly mattered. He didn’t seem to notice so I didn’t say anymore. “So how do you want to do this?” Cole said breaking the silence. “I will lead. Just stand behind me and look threatening or something.” “Yes Cain” I glared at him “Alpha, sorry. Yes, Alpha” As I unlock the door at the bottom of the stairs I am instantly hit with the smell of decay. I assumed William had been whipped and beaten again and sighed. It was becoming a daily occurrence now. If only he accepted his new rightful place as a prisoner, we wouldn’t need to be doing this. I approached his cell slowly as he started to lift his head to meet my eyes. “William, I need to know where your daughter is” I commanded from him. His face didn’t move and he didn’t even try to respond, he just kept staring deep into my soul. “William. Answer me. Now. Or I will get my Beta Cole here, to make you answer” I said this time in my Alpha command. William started to laugh and I could feel the anger start to bubble inside the pits of my body. “You realise Cain, that just because you prisoned me and gave yourself the title of Alpha, doesn’t mean you actually are one? You may be so stupid as to deny it, but I am still the Alpha of this pack and I will never give in to you!” He matter of factly said between laughs again making my patience snap. “COLE. GET THE SILVER CHAIN WHIP AND TEACH THIS GOOD FOR NOTHING SCUMBAG HOW TO TALK TO HIS ALPHA!” Cole grabbed the whip off the weapons shelf as I opened William’s cell door. William was already chained to the wall, so I knew he couldn’t escape. Cole began to beat him and his barely healed wounds started to poor with blood again. “TELL THE ALPHA WHERE YOUR DAUGHTER IS WILLIAM!” Cole screamed above the noise of the whip lashing on his skin. William still didn’t answer, he didn’t even scream in pain, all he did was laugh. I started to pace. This old man had a good pain thresh hold and I didn’t know what next I could do, I needed to keep him alive. I knew him well and he wouldn’t give in. I would have to find Maia myself. Cain, why don’t we just kill him? Cole mind linked me and it broke my train of thought. He is my only leverage against Maia, he is the only thing that makes her do as I say. I will have to find her myself. Give him 25 more whips. I am going to start looking for her. Yes Alpha. As I walked away, William laughed even harder. The moment Maia gives me what I want, what I need, I will kill them all. {Maia’s P.O.V} I could start to feel my head pounding again so knew whatever the doctor gave me was wearing off. Kendra, are you there? Still nothing. What on earth was going on? I tried to open my eyes and to my surprise they allowed me too. My vision was hazy but I could just about make out the standard hospital room I was in. It was bright white, with standard florescent lighting and beeping machines. A medical supply cabinet was stood next to a desk at the far side of the room and right in the corner was a two seater sofa, I assumed for guests, of which I knew I had none.  At that moment, the door opened and whom I assumed was the doctor walked in “Your awake! Finally! It is good to see you. I bet you’re completely confused with where you are?!” He smiled down at me kindly as I nodded my head slowly. It started to pound even more with the movement and I felt dizzy and sick. “Not surprising! I will call Beta Ezra in here to explain, but first let me just check that everything is okay.” The doctor started poking and prodding me and looing at screens and charts. I just stared at him “Doctor, I don’t need to see your Beta, I just need you to let me go home” I said in a whisper as I tried to push myself up off of the bed. I let out a sharp in take of breath as my wrist emitted deep pain at the pressure. “I am afraid you’re not healed enough to go home – not only do you have a fractured wrist, you also have a very bad head injury as well as various other cuts and bruises across your body. You have to stay here until you’re much, much better – let me get the Beta so he can talk with you more, explain who we are and where you have woken up” he waltzed out of the room and in a matter of minutes again he was back with a tall, golden eyed, dark skinned, extremely muscular man. If it wasn’t for my extreme lack of interest in anyone other than my family at this moment in time, I definetley would have found him attractive. “Hi, I am Ezra” He said as he slowly approached my bed, “I am the Beta of the Golden Summit Pack. Do you know who you are? You hit your head pretty bad” he moved his eyes higher up my face and studied me. “Erm, yes, my name is Maia, I am from the Silver Moon Pack and I REALLY need to be getting home!” “Wait… Maia? As in Maia Anderson…?” He stared at me as if he’d seen a ghost “Ye…Yes..” I faulted under his gaze. Why was he looking at me like that? “Doctor Thomas, keep Maia here, I need to get the Alpha immediately” he shouted back to the room as he ran out at a sprint.
