Life can be so unfair at times. And by that I mean that stupid ass billionaire who literally turned out of nowhere, started acting like a some sort of Greek god and stole my glasses as if he couldn't afford one on his own!
Anna however found it a cute scene from one of her Korean dramas and said that ACCORDING TO THE DRAMAS, it was an indication of love. I mean gross!
The next evening, both of us were at a shop getting myself a new pair of glasses. I didn't even want to think about how I spent my night. My glasses were my whole world.
I really wanted the nerdy circular ones like my former glasses but Anna insisted I buy the big box shaped ones which, of course, was in trend.
Seriously, if there is something she could never get tired of, was her trends.
"How about these, Adelia?" she asked raising a deep green colored full rimmed glasses.
"And how about these?" I got her back, picking out one of the nerdy ones.
"Oh come on sugar cake", she groaned "you are now in the eyes of a billionaire. You have to look good for him."
"Don't make me want to puke" I said wearing one of the nerdy ones and checking myself out in the mirror "how the f**k does getting my glasses stolen gets me in the eyes of a billionaire?'
I noticed an old man staring at me through the mirror. He was standing somewhat behind me. He could be looking at himself. I was wrong though, he was staring right at me AND rubbing his old dry lips. I rolled my eyes and walked away from the mirror. Pervert.
"Have you chosen yet?" the shopkeeper asked, exasperated.
I didn't find him guilty though, we had been at the shop for at least an hour now.
"Yes we are almost done" I replied turning to Anna, "let's get over with this."
"Whatever you say'', she said "but you are taking the rimmed one."
"Oh jeez" I sighed, snatching her chosen glasses from her.
"Here, we want this" I told the shopkeeper. Anna squealed in joy and back hugged me.
"Don't be so happy" I told her as my body leant it from her weight, "you knew you would make me buy them anyway."
"I know" she said with a really big toothy smile that even made the shopkeeper stop for a moment and look at her.
As we left the shop, me putting on my new glasses, my phone buzzed in my pocket.
"Who is it?" Anna said stealing a glance from the contact name.
I groaned, "Cad."
She let out a loud 'oo' and nudged me. Rolling me eyes, I attended the call.
"Hey Cad."
"Adelia met me in my office, right now."
The phone hung up immediately.
"Whoa" I said, very surprised.
"What happened?"
Anna asked curiously. I judged whether I should tell Anna the truth or not. After all, she was his ex and I knew somewhere deep inside she had tiny bit feelings for him. But she was my friend first than his ex.
"He asked to meet him in his office and literally hung up."
"That's a bit rough of him" she said "and a little fishy."
"Yeah" I replied and noticed as my best friend's expression turned sober.
We were standing right in the middle of the road with a huge throng and shops on the either side.
I looked at Anna, her cute face scowling but before anything else could happen, her phone started ringing.
"It's mom" she said looking at the caller id before attending the call.
"Hi mom... I am with Adelia... A family dinner?... When is it?... Uh okay be right there."
She hung up quickly and looked at me with fearful eyes.
"What's the matter?" I asked. "I have to go to our family dinner, like RIGHT NOW!"
"So what's the bigge?" I asked.
"Nothing" she said "except my sister would be there!"
"Oh" I said and silenced up.
Anna had an elder sister who had just been married. As far as I knew, they both didn't get along and the worst part was that her parents would always take her sister's side, which was not at all fair.
We both walked to my studio. It was where we usually parted since our houses were in opposite direction.
"Well then good luck" I said to her.
"You too!" she smiled "and please be careful. Text me when you are free or if anything goes wrong."
"Sure" I smiled as she hurried away.
I then walked inside the studio.
There were a lot of workers as usual but something was off. No one was greeting me as usual. In fact I was being glared at. People started whispering and pointing their fingers at me. The girls looked as if they would murder me. I couldn't see Jane and felt extremely uncomfortable.
What's up with them? Keeping my head down, I ran past them without looking up until the elevator came down and I got inside the empty elevator.
"Phew" I said to myself "what's going on? First Cad being so serious and now all these people looking as if I was an intruder or something."
I patiently waited for my floor, glad no billionaire joined me that time.
When the elevator's doors opened I got outside only to hear a soft sobbing. Curiously, I looked around and found the source. I realized it was Jane sobbing in a corner, her head buried in her hands and a few girls comforting her.
"Jane?" I said getting closer to her.
She looked up, her eyes dead red and her mascara all over her face.
"What happened?" I asked, alarmed.
She glared at me and so did the other girls. "It's all your fault!" she said in a deadly whisper.
"What?" I c****d an eyebrow.
"GO AWAY! I HATE YOU!" she screamed, got up and ran away.
The other girls, after giving me a disgusted look ran after her, calling for her.
"What's happening to the world today?" I spoke out loud to no on in specific.
After all those encounters, I made my way directly to Cad's office knowing that he would know what was going on. I was gonna knock at the door when it flew open and I almost bumped into someone.
"Sorry" I quickly said and looked up. My face fell open as I realised I was standing right in front of Jackson Grey.
Ohh boy!
I glared at him and opened my mouth to ask him to return my glasses but he just stared at me with those silver eyes for a second before pushing past me. I stumbled down.
"What's you deal?" I cried after him as he and his bodyguards got into the elevator.
Gosh I hated that man.
"Are you coming in or what?" Cad snapped, looking at me form his seat. Realising I was lying on the floor, I quickly got up and went inside.
"What was he doing here?" I asked taking a seat.
"That's exactly why I called you" he said, his voice deep and angry.
"Hold up" I cut in, "what's going on? Why are you all acting so weird and angry today?"
"That has also got something to do with Jackson Grey" he said, rubbing his eyes.
Go on" I said putting my one leg on another.
"You see Adelia..." he began, "Jackson Grey... he wants to marry you..."
