Chapter 11 My Secret

Ronan's POV

I watch Ember get dressed and ready for the night to go to work, I think mostly to distract herself from her stresses. I don't know what's going on with her but I think I have pieced enough together to kind of get the idea.. She mentioned the cops were helping her with her ex and I heard her say he got out and that she will have to take care of herself and then him but that's about all I got from this and I need to talk to my guys about this because maybe we can help out if I could only get her to tell me.

I keep finding out more and more with the excess amount of time that I have been spending with her, so hopefully she will just tell me and we can get past this. Because I'm not liking how she is talking with me, she is making it sound like she will actually die. I don't know who her ex is but I won't let anyone hurt her if I have anything to say about this.

Luckily I was able to help distract and completely relax her for a little while before her shift, to try to help get her head straight.. and I think by the way she was looking at me and what she was saying to me.. I think she has stronger feelings then I ever imagined after a couple days, luckily for me that the matebond is something stronger than either of us ever expected enhancing our already heated and strong feelings for each other.

I watch her finish getting ready as she turns and looks at me. "You look amazing I almost have a piece of mind to just keep you here with me." I say to her as she blushes and smiles at me. "I would like that I really would but I have s**t to do." She says playfully to me as she puts her knife tucked away in her ripped jean shorts along with another under her tight black tshirt. making it more hidden than you would ever expect with how tight the clothes are.

"Do you need that many knives on you? I mean I'm here." I say to her as she rolls her eyes at me replying, "You're not always going to be around and I always have a knife on me.. I'm just being extra careful."

"Fine I would rather you be safe then sorry." I say to her as she smiles and walks over to me gaining all my attention. "You know you're like the sweetest man ever I'm sure you get that all the time." She states to me as I shake my head pretty quickly.

"No you're the person I'm the nicest to honestly. hence why my friends are taking advantage of me around you making fun of every move I make." I explain to her as she smiles and leans in so we are just inches away. "So what? I'm like your weakness?" I shake my head and retort, "You make me feel stronger actually.. you make me feel like a better person and just feel.. complete.. really. They are just trying to take advantage of me exposing my vulnerable side because I never normally do." I just hope I'm not being to honest to her freaking her out at all.

"Why are you like that with me?" She asks as I just throw it out there. "You really want to know my secret?" I ask her as she nods vigorously biting her bottom lip in anticipation. So here it goes it's all or nothing. "I'm a werewolf and your my mate." I say to her as she scoffs not believing me.

"Seriously Ronan? Are you just making fun of me? I have some actual problems going on in my secret and now you're just mocking me? Really I thought you were better than that." She says storming out of her place, slamming the door behind her and to her motorcycle, taking off to head to work.

Well that didn't go at all like I had planned or even expected.. I didn't expect her to accept it right away or anything but I thought she would be more scared if anything.. but I didn't think at all that she would just think I'm making fun of her and her secret.. I thought I was making more leeway to her opening up but I guess not.

I grab my phone calling Roary.

"Alpha.. whats up?" He answers pretty quickly. "Hey can you come pick me up? I accidentally pissed off Ember and I can't shift here or I will freak out the animals and the people she works with." I ask as he scoffs.

"What did you do?! I thought you guys were making great strides?!" He said to me as I groan and respond. "I thought we were too and I just straight up told her I'm a werewolf in hopes she would tell me about her problem but instead she thought I was making fun of her because obviously she doesn't believe in werewolves.. I guess." I say to him as I can hear him groaning. "Well that makes things difficult." He replies back as I huff saying, "Yea and I still don't know about her past yet.. but she had an officer call her this morning, and he told her that her ex escaped, from where? who knows.. but she is freaked out.. she says she needs to take care of him and that she won't involve me because she doesn't want anything to happen to me and she doesn't want me to see who she use to be. She said she is trying to change and not be that person but I can't understand why she is saying this like this.. She said if I find out who she really is that I won't want to be with her anymore." I explain to him as he states right back to me, "But that won't happen."

"That's what I said but that makes me wonder what she means and what she is trying to leave behind because it sounds like she got in with the wrong people but I really don't know.. Just get over here so I can meet her at work and try to see if I can make this up to her somehow." I say to him as he states right back. "Send me the address and I'll be right there."

"Ok see you soon." I say as I send him the address and wait patiently by locking her place up and waiting outside on her porch because. as of right now I'm not welcome in here so I will wait outside and try to figure out what I'm going to do to fix this.

It doesn't take long for Roary and Sean to get here as I climb in with a pouting look upon my face. I'm sulking for sure.

"Hey man don't beat yourself up you didn't know she wouldn't know we exist.. I'm just suprised you told her this soon honestly." Sean says trying to be reassuring to me.

"So this morning she got a call from this officer. she said he was lead officer of her case with her ex.. she started yelling about how could they let him escape with all the extra amounts of cops on this transport, I guess they got paid off and that's how how ex got away apparently.. then she yells about not taking their help anymore when she could do a better job then them.. and then told them to leave her alone that she will have to take care of this herself.. I just want to know who the ex is and what s**t she got herself into.. that she doesn't think she will survive getting out of." I state to both of them as they look back and forth between each other until we pull up to her work.

We climb out of the vehicle right as we park, getting into the now familure bar. "So your pissing off your mate which is making things harder with me and my mate. I heard you told her about being a wolf and she thinks your mocking her, just making up a bullshit secret, making fun of her when she has a serious problem." I hear from my brother who has a know-it-all look on his face before he adds, "You did it too soon man.. You just threw it at her and now they are talking about how ridiculous that idea is making it way harder for me to break it to my mate." I pull out the chair right next to his, as I flop down into the seat with a huff.

"I didn't do it to help you or make things harder for you Bren.. She is dealing with her own issue right now.. whatever it is.. and I was hoping if I could tell her my secret that it would make her feel better and want to tell me hers.. and no.. it made things worse, then she ditched me after such a great night and morning with her.. I think she is starting to really like me, she doesn't want to tell me about her past because she loves this relationship that we have and she is worried about me leaving her if I find out her secret." I explain to him as he pats me on the back.

"It will be ok just give it time. Women are complicated amazing specimens.. and way more emotional so that means they will take things harder than we do.. not saying her feelings aren't justified or anything because they are but she just doesn't understand and that's ok. You will be able to show her... but that might be hard too because you have seen her tattoo so many times already and not told her that's Cormac.. she might get mad about that just a warning.. or scared people have been known to freak out when seeing it for the first time." Brendan says to me as I nod in understanding.

"See this is why I need you around man. I miss having your advice or just someone to talk to.."I say to him as he pats my back in reassurance again saying, "Well from the sounds of it, it sounds like you're moving here anyways for her right?" He asks as I shake my head.

"I don't know about any of that yet.. I haven't talked to ma and da.. and this ex boyfriend thing sounds like she might have to leave.. I don't know I just want to be wherever Ember is no matter where it's at.. I don't care just as long as I'm with her." I explain to them as I hear right behind me.

"You mean that?" I whip my head around so fast to see Ember, that I think I gave myself whiplash. I groan at the pressure from the twist on my neck now as I croak out. "Yea of course I meant every word."

She smirks at me as she sets down a whiskey in front of me. "That's sweet.. but don't get cocky I'm still pissed about your lie." She says pointing at me as she turns on her heels, walking away as I yell back at her. "I swear I'm not lying." The guys laugh at me as I beg for understanding from my mate so I flip them off and keep pouting.

This really means your going to have to come out to prove I'm not a liar.

I say to Cormac as he scoffs at me before replying.

I knew I was going to have to fix your mess that you made.. Don't worry I'll win her over with my good looks for us. He says in a cocky tone making me cringe as I quickly reply.

Yeah because you can't win her over by talking like I have done before. Don't get cocky pup.. You have been love sick since the moment you saw her don't tell me you won't freeze or stumble in her presence like I have done with my words.

He scoffs at me but doesn't argue, so I think that means I won.

I look at the guys as I say to them, "I told Cormac that he will have to make an entrance and prove I'm not a liar."

"When do you think you will do that?" Sean asks as I shrug then respond, "I don't know probably the sooner the better because I hate her being mad at me.. this sucks.. it's way too quiet I don't like it one bit." I say huffing again as I take a big drink of my whiskey.

"Oooh Mr. Big Bad Warrior Wolf is hog tied to the heart by his mate how sweet. He is just a big love sick puppy. I would like to say you're whipped but she probably hasn't brought out her whip from work yet has she?" Roary playfully says to me as I roll my eyes and flip him off again.

"What did I say to you guys about if your not nice to Ro? Then I'm cutting you off from the alcohol.. I don't know what's being said but you better be nice." Ember says right behind me defensively making me smirk that she still cares even if she is mad at me.

Her scent fills my senses and she leans closer in and setting me down another glass of whiskey, knowing I was going through mine pretty fast already.

"Thank you." I say softly to her as she smirks down at me, sending me a wink but not saying a word to me.. but it's ok I'll take the wink, that's better than nothing.

"I thought you were mad at him? So that means you're suppose to allow us to harass him.. especially when it's about him being a dumbass with you." Sean states to her as she retorts humorously, "Oh okay, if that's what your harassing him about, then harass away gentlemen." she practically skips away from me after that comment. I just want to be mad at her, but how could you honestly be mad at someone so adorable.. Dammit they are right, I really am a love sick puppy for her, this is pathetic.

I wonder if this is normal how I'm feeling or is this just crazy. "Is this how your feeling with Nikki or am I actually crazy for feeling like this especially in such a short span of time?" I ask Brendan as I lean my head against my arm awaiting his answer.

"I think it's normal because this is just how I felt about Nikki the instant I saw her.. I knew then I loved her. I think it's that matebond, it's strong and so intoxicating that it's captivated us instantly.. But I bet they would be the same if they were wolves too. We are just more sensitive to the matebond effects but I know she feels them too, she has told me she does." He explains to me as I nod. "Yea Ember has told me she feels it too that's part of the reason I told her about me was because she wanted to know the actual reason why I feel like this about her like I do and why she feels like this with only me.. so I told her and she got pissed." I say back.

"Hey handsome." We hear as we see Nikki coming over to Brendan and he pulls her onto his lap. "Hey beautiful missed you." He says being muffled into her neck as she giggles like a playful little school girl and responds, "You have been here with me the whole time.. You're ridiculous.. I think you're obsessed with me."

"Damn straight I am." He says gripping tighter around her body as she giggles more and they playfully flirt back and forth until Brendan groans and asks, "What do you have in your pocket it keeps poking my leg.... You're not just happy to see me are you?" She laughs so loud shaking her head at him as she stands up pulling the card out of her back pocket.

Nikki sits back down on his lap as she says, "Oh s**t I completely forgot to give this to her... Ember?"

Ember's attention is grabbed as she makes her way across the room and to our table stopping right next to me. I think she still craves being around me just as much as I do with her no matter how mad she is at me.

"What's up Nikki?" She asks just pretending like I'm not here. But I can see her looking at me in her peripherals every now and then.

"Oh I totally forgot to give this to you earlier but a guy came on by only about an hour at the most ago and asked if you were here but when I told him no he just asked me to give you his card.. so here." She explains nonchalantly handing Ember the card and as it makes contact with her hand she gasps and drops it, not even wanting to hold it like it would electrify her if she did.

I look down at the card on the ground as I pick it up and it's just a picture of a bullseye.. no words nothing but she knew who it was and didn't need words by the look on her face.

"When was he here?" She asks with a panic in her voice. "About an hour or so ago." Nikki responds again before adding, "Are you ok Ember?"

She starts shaking her head as her eyes well up pretty quickly. "I.. I... I need a breathe of fresh air." She says quickly to us as she takes off for the back door in a haste. I don't like the look of that, so I jump up from my chair and say to them. "I'm going to try to have a talk with her and hopefully find out whats going on."

"Um..This is the calling card of the Bullseye Destroyer Ronan. This is not someone to mess with, if she is into debt with him or something like that.. Then you might be in for a world of hurt.. he has his main guy at his side most the time and he is a grousome killer that has no empathy for anyone in his path." Brendan says to me with so much worry in his voice as I quickly respond, "Yes thank you Brendan I know who the Bulleye Destroyer and his Firecracker are, I have heard all about them.. but if that's who we are up against there is no way in hell I'm letting her do that alone or she WILL die. I need to see her and see what we can do for her." I respond back as I turn and head to the back door to figure this out.
