The Ancient Beast (Adere's Mission)

Chapter 37

In the land of Akuzu and on the mountains of Akuzu where Adere, Edu, Renu and the rest that followed them to inspect the place where Adere began to tell the rest that it was time for them to go back to the way where they left them behind but that was not so with Edu. Edu insisted that they still needed to inspect the downside of the rocky mountains but Renu got suspicious of him and backfired at him at once. At that moment it was brought down to Edu that Renu would never like him and he nursed more reason to do whatever would please the Watchers of Abah Kingdom. He sighed and then walked up to Renu and standing before her he said to her, "Your wings are growing bigger than they should my dear and if you are not careful I will be forced to cut them down for you. You have no reason whatsoever to interfer when I am talking with my friend. You should be very careful"

"Sorry to reply you but if he is your friend who is he to me? He is my brother, someone that came from the same place as me" said Renu. Adere overheard her say that and he wondered if actually he was taken as a brother by Renu. He felt disappointed but he did not want to show his disappointment. He went straight to the both of them and spoke,

"Enough of this nonsense. Are you both going to fight now? It is not needed now. We have to return to the rest and with them we can decide to bring them here. I do not think we have nothing else to inspect here. We simply have to move and that is now and not later" He began to march away but Edu ran after him and stopped him and said,

"Are you now going to be listening to her and ignoring me? You know that this is not right but you have chosen to do this and it is quite annoying..You know of how much we were and how far we have come together. If it was not for me you would not be alive by now but I saved you. You know that I saved you and even her or anyone else with you can deny that fact. Now you break my trust by trusting what she says more than what I say. Is it not appalling that you suddenly changed because you already have what you want. This is how you ran away with her leaving me on the ground where the watchers came for me..."

"Not again Edu, stop mentioning that name" he began to walk away but Edu was not ready to have it so as he marched forward to stop him again but this time Adere was so pissed off that he turned and grabbed him by the neck, almost twisting his neck. Edu did not want to struggle or fight back. He simply stood there looking at him as both of them stared into each other's eyes. At some point Adere said "sorry" and released him.

"I am so sorry,.I just do not find it funny having you talk the way that your do. Simply focus on what I tell you. Stop thinking that I am doing something else, something different from what you are telling me. It might sound somehow but that remains the fact. You can not just stand up and begin to make things difficult for us. Kindly do what is needed to be done and follow what I say that you should follow. Do you understand me or do you at oo want me to keep talking before you understand me?"

Edu did not say another word. He simply began to walk away and as he walked away Adere stood there and sighed heavily. As he sighed he noticed that Renu was almost at his back and he tried to move because he was not ready for her talks but Renu was almost upon him and she held him by the hand and spoke, "Will you keep being like this?"

"Being like what exactly, I have told you that despite the fact that I see reason with the things you say sometimes it still does not change the fact that you are becoming something else. I would not want you to start to act like you own me or you own everything that concerns me or that you are the one that must suggest things to me"

"But I do not act like that,. I do not act any of the things that you are accusing me of. I have said it and I will not be made to stop saying it especially when I know that what I am saying is real. You know nothing of what happened to Mori do you? Well I think I know and that was because she actually uttered some words about you. She said some things that sounded so strange and when she said those things your name appeared in them. You want to know what she said that makes you mother to be closer to her every now and then? Well why must I be the one that will tell you when your mother is still alive and even healthier than I am. When you return to where she is I think you should be more serious knowing who Mori is. That way you will be able to know your left from your right and through that you can also make a way for all of us. You know of what I am talking about. Edu is your friend or was your friend I do not want to know but I you should know before now that what he does is no longer what he was used to doing..His agenda has changed and if his agenda has changed you do not expect him to tell you do you?"

Adere did not know what to answer her because actually he was not ready to keep talking about that. His mind at that moment was focused on ensuring that he met with his mother and then ask her the questions that he was packing in his head to ask her. One of the questions would be to know Mori the more and if he knew Mori he would then know what else to do having known much about himself. He then said to Renu,

"I have heard what you said and I am willing to ensure that nothing goes wrong. What you should know is that as you were saying this my mind was going in different directions and all I want to do is to go now and meet with my mother. It is okay that you have decided to say the things that you are saying and my mind tells me that despite the fact that you have not gotten what it takes to make amends all I want to do is to ensure that you go on being the same person that I have always known you to be. What else would you want me to do if not to have the same one. Let us go first and let the rest become history. Do you understand?" Renu nodded and Adere added with, "And also remember that you said things about my father, things that pleased me much and I am willing to continue from where my father stopped. I am not willing to go away from where he stopped instead I want to continue from there and ensure that things worked out the way that they were supposed to work out. Do you understand what I am saying now?" The lady nodded and then they moved.

In the land of Zinu and inside the room where Rira and Aboro were he said to her, "This is the fifth week since all these happened here and having received this letter of invitation from the king of Agori to come home and meet with him I am quite sure that he must have received the news of my desire not to carry on with his desires here. I am not going to listen to him any longer. It is not in me to go on seeking him out on what I intend to do. These past few weeks you have taught me to be a man not just a man of battle but a man of integrity. Meanwhile having said this it is better we focus our minds on what makes sense instead of what makes no sense. Let us go ahead and focus on what makes sense"

"I know how you feel. If I did not know how you felt which made me ask those men and women with me to stay back until I found out what was bothering you you might think that I am blabbing now but you have always known that I have always cared and that care is what has been inspiring me where you are. You also on the other hand have kept us safe from other top generals with you who are eager to have our heads served them by their maids. They do not want to die by your hands and that is why they are obeying your words and following all your commands but that is not how you are supposed to lead them..You are supposed to lead them in some other ways and that is just the fact. let us not begin to do things as if we are not happy with ourselves. We are all going to make things to work out for us. What we should be very much aware of is that following you because you scare them is not true followership. True followership is the followership of people who are following you because they love you, because they can not do without you not because they are being forced to do so. This impression is what we are going to correct today and I am going to help you to correct it. We are going to go and meet with them and through this meeting we are going to bring some of the vital issues to the table, letting them know for sure that it is better we focus our minds on what matters the most instead of allowing some of the things that might sound somehow to affect us. They need to know that you are going to do whatever it is that you can to make them believe in you and what you have stood to achieve. We know that there are many threats in the world today, we all know that the threats that we are speaking about are threats that can make a man not to have any means, when we talk of this threats we talk of the watchers of Abah kingdom and we also talk of the animal, that ancient beast that terrorises the environs of Abah and the rest of the world. We are not going to make them feel that you are the biggest threat but that the biggest threat is the king who thinks that massacring children, women and old people is a way of showing strength, the king of Abah who is actually sponsoring the movement of the watchers of Abah kingdom, other kings of the West who are the ones sponsoring terror in the land and then the Beast from ancient times"
