Chapter 21

2000 Words
Where Edu had screamed and fallen to the ground he remained there because he was unable to move. His feet was terribly hurting him and he kept wondering how on Earth he would be able to leave there alive. He remained there looking around and groaning painfully. Suddenly he could hear footsteps of some people and suddenly he looked behind and there stood before him were Adere with Renu and the rest that were with him. He kept staring at them and they walked up to him. Adere helped him on his feet and asked, "You had a dislocation on your ankle but it can be treated. Where have you been and what happened to you?" Adere was asking but Edu was the one that felt he needed to ask questions. "I have been the one looking for you all and have been wondering where the hell have you all been to. Here I was thinking my head off that I might die here and alone but thanks to the gods of Akuzu that you found me on time. What have you all been up to all these while?" "Nothing serious. We are only trying to make things out of everything" answered Adere. They took Edu to a white place and when they got there they lowered him to the ground and Adere who moved to find herbs for his treatment was followed suit by Renu. Renu went to his front and stood. Adere wondered why she was standing and blocking him. He kept looking at her to know why that had become her routine. The lady sniffed and held him by the shoulder as she seriously said to him, "You need to know that his eyes are no longer the eyes that I knew. I do not know why I sound this way but my mind tells me that there is something that is on board and he is not trying to tell us what that thing is. What I am seeing in his eyes is a man who is looking for something and if we do not go ahead and try to make something out of whatever it is that he is hiding he might end up making us regret our lives. The reason I am so much concerned with him is because I have been born and raised with a spoon that most people do not use. What else are you going to do for me now except to listen to all that I am saying. You know that I can only say what is right because my mind calculates before my mouth speaks. What this means is that despite the fact that we are not ready to allow things like this to continue we can only do what we are required to do in order to get things done and over with. There has never been a time when I ever stopped for a second to think of things that were not there. The reason that I am so much engrossed with you is because deep down my mind I know of what it means to have the desire. Kindly let me bring you to my world of knowledge Adere" Adere sniffed because he thought that Renu was making alot of comments that were not so necessary. He looked at her directly into his eyes and then said to her, "What is it that you have decided to do that makes things unable to function well? Have you not been made to understand why things are working the way that they are working or is it that you fail every now and then to make something out of nothing? Kindly tell me why you have this notion that Edu is faking it?" Renu chuckled because somehow he believed that Adere was not seeing what she was seeing and she was not ready to keep telling him the things that she was prepared to continue to tell him, instead she smiled broadly at him and said, "You were looking for herbs right, let us find it together" Both of them went to look for the herbs. Where Edu was seated with the rest he refused to look at them. He was not yet convinced that they trusted him still. Where Adere's mother was with the rest she was listening attentively to what Mori was saying about how she was able to escape from the wrong hands and how she was able to discover the person that she was. She went on to narrate, continuing from where she stopped. On that faithful day as Mori and her father walked to their horse which they would be using to go to the diviner's shrine Mori's face was not that bright and her father could tell that she was still not happy with the whole thing but he was not ready to miss the opportunity of having her daughter trained by someone whom he believed had more experience than his daughter. At that moment Mori said to her father, "I am still not comfortable with this movement and even though that I am not telling you it does not mean that I am. This diviner's shrine that we are heading to does not make any sense to me. It looks so like a thing of the past and there is nothing more to say to such things. This is why I am so much concerned with the way things worked more than the way that men try to make it work. If we go there is hundred percent reason that he will not be able to help me with my gift and you father you will become disappointed and if you become disappointed it can only mean one thing and that is the fact that you will start to avoid me because you will soon start to think that I am not enough for you as a daughter. Father what I am saying is that even if we must go let us go to a priest, my heart is with the priests more than the diviners" At this moment Mori's father was impatient and also not happy with the way that Mori had been stressing the whole thing. He held her hand and said to her, "My daughter there is something that I would like you to know about the diviners, those lots are not in good terms with each other and apart from that they were not able to locate what is wrong with you and now what you want me to do is to go back to have what to do with them? I have found a place where I believe in my spirit that you are going to receive your freedom and you still want to keep dragging me to a place where there is nothing. Hold my hand and let me lead you to your place of safety or is it that you do not trust your own father? Is it that your trust in me has vanished or is it that you have failed to understand that there is no way things like this would make any sense. Kindly do what you are supposed to do and do not make anything to look like it is our fault. Kindly do what you are supposed to do and let it be recorded that you did the right thing with your father. Let us go" Mori did not want it to continue to look like she was the one stopping her own cure. She did not want to keep getting her father angry and uncomfortable. She remained there and after glaring at her father for sometimes she said to him, "I know that it is your love for me that moves you to want to see me so well and I know too that your love for me which you always had for my mother is what inspires you. Father there is something that I would like to let you know and that is the fact that there is nothing else that I am ever going to allow to happen. There are others even though that they make things happen they are always willing to take credit for those things. I am so much happy with you father and I want you to know that knowing that you love me this much inspires me to know and appreciate love as well. Let us go father. We can go there now" The both of them mounted the horses after hugging one another. It was after they had passed the boundary that separated the land of Zinu and the place that the diviner was staying that they knew they were almost there. When they reached there they dismouted their horses and Mori held her father's hand as she saw the look of the environment. The father placed his hand over her and told her not to be afraid and the daughter nodded. They then answered the call and entered the shrine of the diviner, meeting him going on with his incarnations and they did not want to interrupt him instead they sat down and waited for him to be through. They did not want to interrupt him because they already knew what it meant to interrupt the floor of the spirit. What Mori's father was not yet able to understand was why all of a sudden the diviner now talks to some beings before him before he would respond to them. After the diviner was through with his incantations he turned and said to Mori's father, "I know that in your thoughts this is not what you had expected. You had expected to see me still with the old parthen that you met when you first entered here. I mean it might look like it but there is nothing like that. What else am I ever going to say except that I have given out my heart to it all. I decided after you left to do what the priests do because what we the diviners failed to understand is that the power that we use even though we claim to be ours were given to us by the god and the gods who stand there in as our power do so for the sake of the people who are looking for a way out of their problems, people like you. So now that you are seeing this I do not want you to start to misunderstand it all because actually you will understand better if you put yourself in my shoes. You know that after you came we discussed something that had to do with your daughter and despite the fact that your daughter had wanted to do what needed to be done by following the Priests because in her eyes I can see it that she is an obsessed person of the priests she decided to come here with you. I am not saying that there is anything stopping anyone but instead of making amends we end up doing nothing..Let us then join hands together and do what needs to be done. Let us join hands together and enable ourselves to go further in all that we do. We can always change and make amends" Mori's father still could not understand because initially what he had expected to see as he entered the shrine was to see the diviner still seated in one corner of the room, that is his shrine and either eating or doing something else but to see the representative of the gods in his shrine that he was so shocked to see and he could not hide his shock. "Great one I must say that I am not just surprised but I am shocked to the brim. This though does not mean that I am not happy with what you have become, instead I am filled with joy that this happened at the right time because now my daughter will be so pleased"
