Curious

I immediately plummeted down on the bed. “Are you okay?” Irene asked as she sat me up. “Yeah, I’m fine. I don’t usually float in my sleep.” I whispered. “Was it Sela?” Mira questioned. “What was going on with her?” “She has to meet some prince so she can prove that she loves Lev. Maybe she’s scared and projecting more powers onto me so she doesn’t use them. One of her powers was flight.” “You looked very graceful levitating up there,” Irene commented. “Almost like it was what you were meant to be doing.” “I was sleeping so peacefully, that must have been it.” I forced a smile. “Sorry I freaked you guys out so much.” “No problem. It’s a cool party trick.” Mira laughed. “I was coming back into the room and I nearly fainted!” “Where did you go?” Irene asked. “Oh, just a midnight rendezvous with Enzo.” “How fun,” I muttered. “Glad you guys are getting along.” “He still seems off, but I guess things are getting better. Thanks again, Celine.” Mira smiled. “I know it’s because of you.” “Anything to help you and Enzo. That’s what I’m here for.” *** Enzo must have taken what I said to heart. He and Mira were back to being adorable and coupley. He was kissing and touching her and whispering in her ear. Once again, instead of feeling ecstatic, I was instead incredibly bothered by the whole ordeal. “Heard you were levitating last night,” Grey smiled at me as he sat down for breakfast. “Did you miss me that much?” “I sure did.” I kissed him. Grey seemed kind of hesitant. We didn’t usually kiss in front of other people. But Enzo and Mira could do it, so why couldn’t we? “Something wrong?” I whispered. “I just…I thought you wanted to keep this a little under wraps.” “We don’t have to, right? Unless you don’t want people to know that you like me.” Grey kissed me hard. There were wolf whistles around us, causing us to pull away from each other. Now I felt a little embarrassed. “That should be me,” Luc shook his head and sighed heavily. “I don’t know, I think Grey knows how to light Celine up in a way you couldn’t.” Paz commented. I giggled and started eating again. “This doesn’t mean we’re official or anything,” Grey assured me. “We’re still taking things slow.” “Does that bother you?” I asked. “What do you mean?” “I mean the slow thing? I can feel how…excited you get when we’re together.” I pointed out. Grey cleared my throat. “To pretend I don’t want to sexually be with you is crazy, but I don’t want to pressure you Celine. I know you’re innocent and new to this whole s****l thing. I would never push you on that.” “You’re so sweet,” I kissed him quickly. “I’m glad people know that I like you.” “I’m glad too.” I looked around and saw that Enzo looked ridiculously irritated at the moment. His eyes were on Grey. I thought he had gotten over the fact that Grey and I liked each other. Why did it bother him so much? And why did I like that he was bothered? *** “Celine, I need to speak to you.” Enzo once again was pulling my arm. Why did he have to be so aggressive? I let him pull me all the way out into the forest where we had been when he told me about Rafe. “What do you want?” I asked. “So you and Grey are like serious now?” Enzo demanded. “Not exactly. We just don’t see why we should hide that we like to kiss each other.” “Speaking of kissing, have you thought more about…ours?” “No,” I lied. “Why should I?” “Because it means something! I-it was more than being vulnerable, Celine. There were feelings and emotions! Something much deeper.” “Like what?” “I-I don’t know! I’m trying to figure it out! But you’re acting like it means nothing to you!” Enzo exclaimed. “It did! That kiss was nothing, Enzo, so stop trying to figure it out!” I shot back. Enzo stared at me for a moment before pulling me against his hard chest and kissing me. Once again, I didn’t push him away. I should have and I knew it, but my heart and body were melting against Enzo. I kissed him back passionately, putting my hand on the back of his head and gently stroking his hair. His strong arms wrapped around me and held me as though I was going to float away. Enzo backed me into a tree, still not breaking the kiss. Not even my mind was fighting this anymore. It was like everything in me was willing to admit that this was more than just vulnerability. We slowly pulled away from each other when it felt like there was no more air. Enzo’s beautiful eyes fluttered half open and refused to leave mine. His breath was heavy as his fingers gently brushed against my lips. “You’re telling me that was nothing?” Enzo breathed. “Really Celine?” “I um…” I truly couldn’t speak. “Yeah that’s what I thought. So…are you ready to figure this out with me?” I shook my head. “And why not?” “This isn’t…Enzo this cannot happen. This is against everything I’ve ever been taught. You’re my charge, nothing more. Do you understand me?” “No.” “Enzo, I’m not joking.” I said. “Great, neither am I.” Enzo stated. “You can pretend that nothing is happening but if I kissed you again…you’d kiss me back.” His lips hovered inches from mine. “And imagine if I touched you…you’d touch me back.” Enzo’s fingers danced on my thighs, causing the stirrings I felt with Grey to shoot through my body in a much more intense way than they ever had. “I know what this is,” I whispered. “Tell me, Celine,” Enzo refused to back away. “A challenge. You love challenges and that’s all I am to you. Your virgin charge. Completely and totally off limits. You’re scared Enzo.” “Of what?” “Mira. Falling in love with her. So you’re trying to sabotage it with a challenge you know you can’t win. But it’s enough of a distraction that it’ll ruin your relationship. That’s all this is.” I smirked. “Oh really? So what is it for you? What do you get out of wanting to kiss me so f*****g bad your body shakes?” Enzo challenged. That was a great question. What the heaven was I getting out of this? “Curiosity.” I answered, though I didn’t think that was it. “So you’re curious? Then explore it, Celine. Don’t be scared.” He grabbed my hand and slipped it up his shirt, making me touch his abs. I hoped he couldn’t see on my face how much I was enjoying it. I counted his six pack and then he dragged my hand lower. His V muscles. My fingertips were now at the waistband of his sweats. We stared at each other. Each daring the other to take the next step. “I can see in your eyes how much you want it,” Enzo smiled. “If you stop being afraid you can have it.” I hadn’t even touched Grey below his waist before, so why was I even considering taking this step with Enzo? Why was I so enticed with the idea of going too far with my charge? This was all much too dangerous and against every angel code I could think of. I had to stop this. “What do you want from me Enzo?” I questioned. “For you to stop lying to yourself. To admit you are more than just my innocent little guardian angel. You want things. You want me on top of you…inside of you. You want to scream my name. You know I can make it happen too. You’ve seen my work.” Never had Enzo being so darn cocky bothered me more. He thought I was like those other girls pining over him? Ready to obey every command he gave me? I wasn’t. So why did I feel like I was? “Enzo-” “Tell me you’re not attracted to me at all and I will never kiss you again, Celine.” I scoffed. “That’s all I have to say?” “Sure. So says it. ‘Enzo, I’m not attracted to you at all’. Eight words.” He grinned as though he knew I couldn’t say. “Um. Well-” “Enzo? Are you out here?” Mira’s voice called. I had never been so relieved that she interrupted us. Enzo unpressed himself from me as he rolled his eyes. “Interrupted again,” He shook his head. “Don’t worry, we’ll have more moments alone.” “No we won’t. I’m not doing this with you.” I said firmly. “We’ll see.” “Enzo?” Mira asked. “Yeah, babe, I’m coming!” He winked at me before hurrying off. I stayed against the tree, not sure of what the heaven I was going to do to get myself out of this one.
