Alpha Enzo

I was emitted out of the trial into the lounge room. Three months. I had three months to save my wings and my soul. I could do that right? I mean it would be easy. I would just go to Enzo, find him a girl and then boom, he’d fall in love and I’d have white wings. Easy and simple! “You’re never going to be able to do it, you know?” Sander’s voice came from behind me. “Your werewolf is useless.” “He is not! I can too do this!” I said fiercely. “I am an amazing guardian angel and I am more than capable.” Sander chuckled. “You know, Celine, you're so cute all determined like that. You know I actually hope you can help your charge.” “And why is that?” I asked. Sander floated over to me. “Because it would be a shame if I didn’t get to see you every day, flying around.” “You hate me.” “No…I hate the way you make me feel,” Sander whispered. For the first time since I’d met him, his eyes weren’t filled with disdain and his tone was soft. Most of all, his mouth wasn’t fixed in a sneer. It was inching towards mine. I closed my eyes as Sander pressed his lips against mine. He gripped my arms tightly as he pulled me closer. His wings enveloped mine as his arms slid around my waist, bringing me against him. Why was I actually enjoying this? Sander was cocky and mean and made me feel little and insecure. And yet with this kiss he was building me up once more. I put my hands on the back of his head as I kissed him back. His warm tongue slipped into my mouth as he moaned in satisfaction. I hadn’t been kissed since I’d been a guardian angel. I didn’t have time for things like relationships and lust. But who knows? Maybe I actually did. I wasn’t sure how long we floated there, just kissing each other. Finally Sander pulled away breathing heavily. He smiled at me and my stomach dropped. Had this just been a cruel prank on his part to throw me off my game? Was he going to laugh in my face and call me silly and foolish? “I’ve wanted to do that since I met you,” Sander whispered. “Every insult and glare has been keeping me from doing this. I didn’t want you to know how I felt.” “Well you did a great job with that, you were such a jerk,” I murmured. “Then why did you kiss me back?” “Well, I didn’t say you were ugly,” I laughed. “You’d be crazy if you did,” He kissed me again. “Finish this assignment as quickly as possible and then come back to me, Celine. I want to be with you.” “Really?” I breathed. “You don’t think I’m useless or imcompetent?” “I think you’re perfect.” I smiled at him. “I think you’re still a jerk, but you kiss very well.” Sander laughed. “I’ll work on it while you’re gone okay?” “Sure…maybe you can come visit me while I’m on Earth.” “That sounds disgusting,” He saw the disappointment on my face. “But I suppose I’ll make it through for you.” “Good…um I should get going. I have no idea what I’m going to do, but I need to do it! Time is ticking.” “Good luck down there, Celine,” Sander kissed me one more time. “You got this…prove to me you’re an amazing guardian angel.” I nodded before flying away. I hoped I would actually be able to return. I think I’d like to have a boyfriend. -- I stood in front of the slide to Earth, shaking. The Archangels waited impatiently for me to get on. I took a deep breath before sitting down. “Remember, Celine, only three months to complete this task or that’s it for you.” Archangel Aergos reminded me. “I won’t let you down.” I promised. I felt a shove from behind propelling me forward. I zipped through the enclosed tube, screaming all the way. I thought I’d be falling forever until finally I saw the light at the end of the tunnel. I landed on the ground with a thud. I think I was in the forest near The Bloodrose Bane’s pack house. I groaned as my wings lifted me out of the dirt. I brushed myself off, taking in my surroundings. I had been on Earth for forty one seconds and I already wanted to leave. It was dirty and smelled like outside. While the trees were pretty, I could tell they were littered with bugs and other gross things. I wouldn’t enjoy this at all. “Woah, what the hell are you?” I turned and saw a teenage boy staring at me. “I’m a human,” I lied. “Not you’re not,” “Sure I am,” “Humans don’t have wings.” He pointed out. Crap, I totally forgot that. I’d have to hide my wings if I wanted to fit in around here. “You’re gonna forget you ever saw me.” I stated. “No, I’m no-” I threw some dust in his face and he froze. “Now turn around and go about your day like before, forgetting this encounter ever happened.” He turned on his heel and walked in the opposite direction. I sighed in relief. “Okay, wings, into hiding you go!” I groaned feeling them get sucked into my back. I tried to walk, but I was completely off balance without my wings. I was so used to having them on my back and now I wasn’t sure how to function without them. Okay Celine, one foot in front of the other. I slowly walked through the forest, wobbling the whole way. Just as I had suspected, I was pretty close to Alpha Enzo’s packhouse. I sighed in relief seeing it come into my sight. As I entered the grounds I looked around for potential mates for Enzo. There was a pretty blonde girl, a perky brunette, a cute girl with a bob. So many possibilities and I had three months to figure it out. The girls were distracting me and I wasn’t exactly watching where I was going. I ran right into someone. I looked up in awe. It was Beta Grey. He was even better looking in person. The portal actually didn’t do him justice! “Sorry about that.” He smiled. “You okay?” “I’m heavenly,” I smiled back. “I don’t think I’ve seen you here before.” “I’m…new.” “New? To our pack?” Beta Grey chuckled. “I mean around here…um I lost my pack.” “Oh, I’m so sorry. Do you know where they are?” “No, not at all,” I pouted. “But I’m sure I’ll find them…anyways, do you need a scribe?” He perked up. “How did you know?” “Um…I’m a mystic.” Beta Grey’s eyes widened. “Really? So you have a third eye?” “I do.” “Well…what’s my name?” “You are Beta Grey.” This excited him beyond belief, he nearly started jumping up and down. “That’s amazing! You’re hired as a scribe!” “You don’t want to make sure I can actually write or something?” I asked. “Right um…can you write?” I took the pen and paper from his hand and wrote a quick little note. “Wow, your penmanship, it’s…” “Heavenly?” I asked. “Exactly, um…you’re hired!” “You don’t have to ask Alpha Enzo?” “How did you know-right the mystic powers? Um…do they happen to tell you that he can be a little angr-” “Beta Grey!” Alpha Enzo barked. “Here we go,” Beta Grey whispered. “Yes, Alpha Enzo?” “Did you do what I said? Do we have a new scribe or not?” He stomped over to us. “Who the hell is this?” It was strange seeing my charge right in front of my face. Just like Beta Grey, the portal didn’t truly capture how good looking he was. I didn’t get to see the flecks of gold in his eyes in the portal. “This is um…” “Celine,” I smiled. “It is amazing to meet you, Alpha Enzo!” “Celine is our new scribe.” Beta Grey offered. “You couldn’t find a less excitable one?” “Well I-” “Doesn’t matter, we have a meeting now, let’s go both of you.” He turned and walked away and we followed him. This was going to be easier than I thought it would be! I had already infiltrated his life with ease! I’d pick a girl for him, make her seem appealing to him and then he would fall in love! I wouldn’t even need the three months. “Cecile, why don’t I know you?” Enzo asked as we entered the meeting room. “Um, it’s Celine and I’m new.” “Did we add a new pack while I was asleep, Beta Grey?” “Celine doesn’t have a pack and she offered to be our scribe so I thought-” “You would just hire her without knowing a single thing about her? She could very well be an assassin sent to kill me.” “I would never!” I exclaimed. “Then why did you lie about being a werewolf?” He demanded. “I can smell you, you know? There’s no wolf in you.” “I am a werewolf.” Enzo smiled darkly. “If that’s the case then go on and show us.” “What do you mean?” I asked. “Shift into your werewolf form.”
