The Alpha's Guardian Angel

The Quest Begins

“Good morning, Bloodrose Banes. I have a very important announcement to make,” Enzo started. “The special group I got together will be leaving to go to the Bonepikes today. For the time being Brandon will be in charge. You do everything he says just like you would with me.”

“Alpha Enzo, how long will you be gone?”

Enzo looked over at me and I shrugged. “I’m not sure, but I will be in constant communication with Brandon so you’ll always know what’s going on. Do we all understand?”

“Yes, Alpha Enzo.” The room chorused.

Although Enzo could be very aggressive and cruel, he was a very good Alpha. He had kept his pack safe and everyone respected him.

“I will be leaving you with something that Celine was nice enough to get for us.” Enzo finished. “Celine?”

“Okay, so I have left many vials of Forget Me Dust. It will help with any Hellions. Just blow it in a Hellion or someone cursed by a Hellion’s face and they will literally turn to dust.” I smiled.

Everyone stared back at me in shock. I guess that was pretty intense.

“I hope it will work well for you.” I muttered before sitting back down.

“Well that’s all I have for now,” Enzo stated. “Stay safe and vigilant.”

I was so excited as I packed my bag. I was going on a real adventure. Even if I was sent to The Infernal Planes, I was sure I was going to have the time of my life! Earth was really growing on me.

Grey was waiting for me outside of my chambers.

“Hey, you ready?” He asked.

“I sure am.”

“Um…do you wanna be my travel buddy?”

“Aren't we all traveling together?”

“Yeah, but I guess what I mean is do you wanna walk with me while we do that? And you know talk and stuff?” Grey questioned almost nervously.

“Um…” I looked around, sure Enzo would want me to walk with him, but I saw him and Mira making out while other girls watched jealously. I guess he’ll want to hang out with her. “Sure, I would like that.”

Grey smiled. “I would too.”

Twenty minutes later we had started on our journey. I walked behind Enzo and Mira with Grey. I couldn’t keep my focus off of the couple in front of me.

Enzo and Mira held hands and occasionally kissed. They were definitely a cute couple, they were just very into PDA which I didn’t think I would be in a relationship.

“You know, I’m really glad you didn’t leave, Celine,” Grey grinned. “I would have missed you too much.”

“I don’t know a lot about you, Grey. Tell me something.” I stated.

“You’re a mystic right? You know a lot.”

“I’d rather hear it from you.”

“Um okay…I had a pretty normal childhood, honestly. I’m an only child. I always wanted to go on an adventure.”

“Like this one?” I asked.

“Not exactly. I meant like one like with a girl. With a girl I liked a lot just traveling and seeing beautiful sights, you know?”

“Oh…well you can do that with your mate right? Or do you not have one?”

Grey shook his head. “No, not exactly. I mean…there’s someone that I like, but I don’t know if she likes me back.”

“Oh, who is she?” I questioned.

“Um, just a girl.”

“Do I…know her?”

“You do,” His eyes were on the ground.

“Is she a Bloodrose Bane?”

“Yes technically she is.”

“So we left her back there?” I asked. “That’s so sad.”

“No, no we didn’t.”

“So she’s here,” I realized. I looked around.

There were only two girls here. Mira and Irene. They were already taken though. Grey was a decent man and would never lust after another person’s girlfriend.

Wait, weren't there three girls here? Mira, Irene and then…oh.

Me.

“I like you too, Grey,” I blurted out.

His green eyes lit up with both excitement and nervousness. “Oh I didn’t-um…do you really like me?”

“Of course I do, why wouldn’t I?”

“Celine when you say you like me…do you mean like really like me?”

“What does really liking you entail?”

Grey rubbed the back of his head anxiously. “Well do you wanna like hold my hand and…kiss me or something?”

“Oh,” I felt my cheeks get hot.

Did I have those feelings about Grey? I mean he did make me feel warm and happy. I liked hugging him and looking at him shirtless. But what about Sander? I guess I still liked him, but he wasn’t here. He was up in The Cosmic Sanctum probably on his way to red wings.

Also we hadn’t decided we were exclusive. I had a right to have a crush on someone else.

“I guess that’s a no,” Grey sighed.

“No! I mean yes! I mean I would like to kiss you. I think you have really nice lips.” I giggled. “I um I do like you Grey.”

Finally he smiled. “That’s really cool to hear, Celine.”

“So what do we do now?” I asked.

“We could go on a date.”

“How? We’re traveling.”

“I’ll figure it out, okay? We’ll have a picnic or something. Whatever I have to do to spend time with you.” Grey said seriously.

“I’d really like that.” I grinned.

“In the meantime…could I hold your hand?”

I nodded and Grey grabbed onto my hand and intertwined his fingers in mine. I liked how it felt. I had never romantically held hands with someone and it was kind of exciting.

About an hour later we stopped for a break.

Enzo walked up to me. “What’s going on with you and Grey?” He questioned.

“Nothing. We’re travel buddies.” I informed him.

“But you were holding hands.”

“So what?”

“That seems a little more romantic.” Enzo pointed out.

“I think we like each other.”

“Is that allowed?”

“What do you mean?”

“I mean are you allowed to like…other creatures. Or are you only allowed to be with other angels?”

“I can love whoever I want to.” I stated.

“Love? Now we’re talking about you being in love with Grey?”

“No, I’m not saying that…but I am in severe like with him.”

“Yeah? Why? What’s so great about him?” Enzo practically demanded.

“He’s sweet and funny. Very charming. And he has a nice body too.” I bit my lip.

“I thought angels didn’t engage in s****l things.”

“I didn’t say that.” I smirked.

“Well…don’t you have a boyfriend?” Enzo questioned.

“We’re not exclusive at all.”

“I don’t know how I feel about you and Grey dating.”

“Don’t worry about me, Enzo. You have a beautiful woman to fall in love with. I promise Grey won’t distract me from our mission.” I said. “Everything will be fine.”

Mira was approaching us now. “Hey Celine. Is something going on with you and Grey? You two looked cozy.”

“No,” Enzo answered. “They’re just friends.”

Mira laughed almost nervously. “Um, okay then.”

“We’re under attack!” Luc shouted.

Fear filled Enzo’s eyes. “Shift and protect Celine!”

In an instant, I was surrounded by werewolves. They circled around me, ready to defend me. I had never felt so safe.

Other wolves emerged from the bushes. They were barring their teeth and growling. Suddenly I didn’t feel so safe anymore.

Barking and yelping filled the air as a battle began. I backed against a tree as I watched the fighting. I tried to spot Enzo or Grey through all the chaos, but I couldn’t.

I hit the ground as a wolf lunged for me. I heard a bark that I recognized as Enzo's. I swear I could understand him.

“Run Celine!”

I scrambled up and started running as fast as I could. I thought about releasing my wings, but I knew I couldn’t reveal myself to everyone like that.

I could hear pounding footsteps behind me. I was being chased and they were catching up to me. I glanced over my shoulder and saw a wolf right at my heels. I screamed before pushing myself to run faster.

None of my training had prepared me for this. I couldn't exactly punch a werewolf could I? I decided to try climbing a tree. That way I would actually be safe. I jumped as hard as I could, grasping on to the branch.

Below a dark brown wolf snarled at me and snapped his sharp teeth. He was inches away from my feet. I swung them, attempting to reach the trunk so I could help myself up, but I was too far from it.

I whimpered as I felt the branch crack. It wasn’t going to hold me. I was going to fall to my death! I couldn’t believe this was really how it would end for me! I should have gone back to The Cosmic Sanctum when I had the chance.

The branch fully broke and I hurled to the ground. I landed hard on my back and the wolf immediately pinned me down. I winced, ready for pain and then I heard a yelp and felt release.

I slowly opened my eyes and I saw the beautiful sky! I was alive. I looked over to see Grey’s wolf snapped the neck of the wolf who had almost killed me.

He changed to his human form and hurried over to me.

“Celine, a-are you okay? Are you hurt?”

“My back,” I groaned as he placed my head in his lap.

He brushed my messy hair out of my face. “I’m sorry I didn’t get to you sooner. I-I tried my best, but there were so many of them.”

“I thought I was going to die,” I admitted.

“You can’t. We have a date.” He smiled slightly.

“Yeah we do huh?”

“Celine!” I heard Enzo's voice as he hurried over to me. He knelt on the other side of me. “What happened, are you okay?”

“She was hanging from the branch and then she fell. I saved her.” Grey informed him.

“My hero.” I smiled.

Enzo frowned. “I see. Well, can you stand up?”

I nodded. The boys slowly helped me to my feet. Grey gently put his hand on my lower back. “How does that feel?”

“Very good,” I smiled at him.

“So you’re not hurt?” Enzo questioned.

“I think I’ll be okay.”

“Good. We should get back to the others.”

“Alpha Enzo, we captured one of them!” Luc ran up to us.

Dominic was holding a man’s arms who was struggling to get away.

Enzo walked up to the man and grabbed his throat. “What pack are you from?”

“C-can’t breathe…” The man choked out.

“Enzo, let him breathe.” I whispered.

He rolled his eyes and released his throat.

“Answer the question. What pack are you from?” Enzo asked through gritted teeth.

“The Cold Paw Pride.”

“No, that pack was wiped out.”

“We were taken over by The Grim Hounds.” He stated.

“Who sent you?” Enzo hissed.

“Alpha Rafe of course.”

I could see how upset Enzo was. His body was shaking with anger.

“Why did he send you?”

“For her.” The man’s eyes were on me. “He wants her.”

“Why does he want her so bad?” Enzo demanded. “What is he going to do with her?!”

“Something real bad…he’s going to lock her up and do unspeakable things to her.”

“Shut up.”

“Wait until he sees how pretty she is,” The man continued, a sinister look in his eyes. “He’s looking for a Luna, you know. He would just love to get his hands on her.”

“Enough!” Enzo yelled. “Don’t speak about her like that, do you understand me?!”

“Oh I get it…she’s important to you right? How important, Alpha Enzo? What would you do to save her?”

“What do you…what do you mean?”

“I mean that he wants her more than he wants you dead. So if you wanna keep your girl safe…well you better hope you can kill him. He’s gonna love watching you suffer. Alpha Rafe is going to take everything from you, including her and you will do nothing about it.”

“He’s not going to touch her, you hear me? She’s mine and he can’t have her.” Enzo shook his head.

“I guess we’ll see, won’t we…Alpha Enzo.”

I cried out as Enzo hit him so hard he fell to the ground. He started stomping on him.

“Enzo, come on!” Mira pulled at his arm but he didn’t listen.

He was overcome with anger in a way I had never seen. He was killing the man.

“Enzo stop!” I stepped forward.

It was almost like the way I had to listen to him, he had to listen to me too. He stopped stomping the man and looked over at you.

“I won’t let him take you from me, Celine,” Enzo had a crazed look in his eyes. “He won’t take you.”
