Love the Cook

I'm just a young teenage girl who owns a restaurant, a young teenage boy walks in and I ask, "Hello, how may I help you?" The boy says, "I'm looking for a girl named Love Goldenheart." My heart leaps, "Yes, that's me." The teenager smiles, "I'm Luke Windfall," he looks at the clock, "when do you get off of work?" It's 3:30 pm on a Friday, and Luke says, "I'll have a cup of tea," I hand him steaming cup of tea, then we head to a table in the back. Luke whispers, "You are my chosen one," he leans forward and kisses me deeply. Eventually, the heavenly moment ends, Luke helps me close up the shop. A couple of months ago, my parents died in a car wreck, so now I live with my aunt and uncle who both hate me. As I walk though the door, I say, "I'm home," then my uncle walks out of the room, he grabs my wrist and pulls me outside. He had his hands out in front of him, I scream as he wraps his thick fingers around my throat. I think I hear our neighbors screaming then, sirens. There is a police car and an ambulance. The police come out and went to my uncle and ask, "Why did you choke this poor girl?" My uncle answers, "I can do anything to this girl because she is mine," I roll over and crawl over to the police, tap on his leg, he looks down, so I point to the house. Some doctors put me inside the ambulance. The police walks into the house, my aunt screams, then everything went black. When I woke up, I'm in a hospital bed. Then I tried to talk, but my throat suddenly hurt. A doctor says, "Please lay down." Then a few nurses walk in and ask, "do you remember your name?" I nod and mouth, Love Ray Goldenheart. Then they ask, "do you remember any of your family members?" I nod. The nurses figure out I can't talk. I can remember what happened and why I'm in a hospital bed. I start punching the bed and screaming silently. I mouth, 'I want to see Luke Windfall,' the nurses shake their heads, so one nurse gives me a notebook, I write, 'I want to see Luke Windfall, now!' The next day, the nurses release me so, I went to the park, Luke is there, he says, "I heard about what happened yesterday, and you can't talk." I write in my notebook, 'My aunt and uncle are in jail so, can I live with you?' "Sure, let me ask my mom!" Luke comes running, "My mother said yes!" We head to his mom's house and when his dad comes home, his mom says, "A girl named Love Goldenheart is going to live with us; your son brought her here." His dad grabs Luke by his hair and punches the side of his head. "Ow, Dad!" I write in my notebook, 'What did he do!?' "He isn't supposed to bring stray animals home!" I write, 'I'M NOT A STRAY ANIMAL, I'M HUMAN!!!' Luke's dad says, "Well, then you're our daughter, then." Luke's mom smiles, "you have to follow our rules. Since you can't talk you can type on this tablet then at night put it on the charger." "We don't have an extra room so you can sleep with Luke." Luke smiles and asks, "I'll show you around, okay," I nod. After 30 minutes, Luke finishes showing me around the house. Luke's parents are at the door, "We're going buying another bed for you, Love." I got the tablet and type, Okay, but can't you actually let me sleep with Luke? Luke's dad says, "Call me Dad and we'll think about it." I think, grrr! Luke says, "Dad, you don't know what Love has been through." Luke's dad's face is purple, "Luke Windfall, you know not to talk back to me," I type, Stop! You definitely don't know what I've been through! Luke's dad whispers, "Tell us then." I grit my teeth. I CAN'T TALK, but I types anyway, On the warm April night, my parents were driving to my restaurant, and I was about to get off of work and parents were picking me up. Suddenly, an SUV hit my parents car in the front. The windshield shattered, cutting my parents, and since my parents were dead I had to live with my aunt and uncle who hate me. Two months later, a few days ago, I was walking home from work, and I said, "I'm home," then my uncle chokes me, the neighbors screams. I was in the hospital and couldn't talk. I continue working the next day, Luke comes and says, "I heard about what happened yesterday, and you can't talk." I write in my notebook, 'My aunt and uncle are in jail so, can I live with you?' "Sure, let me ask my mom!" Luke comes running, "My mother said yes!" That is how I got here, and I have to deal with you! Luke's dad says sarcastically, "Well, isn't that just sad!" I glare at Luke's dad while tears slip down my cheeks. I run our room with Luke following me and lock the door. I sit on the bed, take off my shoes and throw them at the locked door. I mouth, 'I hate you!' Luke says, "Try saying, Love and Luke." I nod and say, "Lo- n Lu." "Good job." Luke's dad is punching the door and yelling, "OPEN THE DOOR, LOVE RAY GOLDENHEART!!!" I yell in a hoarse voice,"NO!" There's a pause, the door opens, Luke's dad used the key. He grabs my two braids and punches my leg super hard. I yell in pain and drop to the floor. Luke's mom stands behind Luke's dad and she says, "You didn't have to do that, dear." Luke supported me and walks to the car and went around to sit on the other side. Luke's mom walks to the car, she exclaims, "Luke's dad is in the house. Love, you can sleep in the same bed as Luke; we need more food and get you some new clothes for you, dear." After the visit to the store, I extremely tired so, I went to bed. When I woke up, Luke is sitting on the bed; he didn't have his shirt on and says,"You have dinner on the table," as a response I patted his hand. I head downstairs there is spaghetti and meat balls with a salad. I take my dinner upstairs, and Luke's mom sees me and she nods, I want to get away from Luke's dad. After I eat, I brush my teeth then go downstairs and type, where's mom? Luke says, "Mom is in their room with Dad." I knock on the on the door, "Who is it," a voice asks. I frown, but I try saying, Love and nothing comes out. Suddenly, I remember being taught Morse code. Luke's dad apparently doesn't know Morse code because he yells, "Stop knocking and answer!" In response, I kick the door, I think, Forget it, it's useless! I went back to the room, Luke asks, "How did it go?" I shake my head. I hear the door open and see Luke's mom. She whispers, "Jason doesn't seem to like having you here," Mom smiles, "Stay here as long as you need to." I smile and hug her tight. As Luke turns on the T.V. to the news that says, "A couple months Amy and Dan Goldenheart passed from a car wreck. A month ago, their daughter, Love Goldenheart was choked by William and Rebecca Ethan were taken to jail and just this morning, they passed." I suddenly let out a blood curling scream, tears rolling down my cheeks. Luke looks at me and so did Mom, "Jason! Jason, call 911, fast!" Luke's dad runs to the phone and calls 911, "Hello, please state your emergency." "Love Ray Goldenheart may have just damaged her throat even more," I begin coughing up blood, "please hurry!"
