"What's so special about today?" Stephen was completely at ease now. He'd forgotten his reservations about Tyler.
" It's the anniversary of my family's deaths. I think that's why Aunt Charlotte agreed to this little venture. She wanted to keep their memories alive."
"How long ago did it happen?"Val asked with a sympathetic look.
"A long time ago, he answered."
"But not too long ago, right?"Stephen added, "You can't be much older than us."
"I just have a young face, "Tyler laughed, " I think I'll look like I'm 23 forever!! I get carded for everything. "
They laughed at that. They'd all been through the same thing. Evan got carded buying mature video games. He wasn't far from his 20th birthday.
"Well, Tyler, we really do appreciate the information. Now, if you only knew who moved a book in the library?"
"That was me as well," he seemed caught off guard. I haven't made it through all the books, and I was hoping to find more on my family history. Maybe a journal or ledger. They must've kept something."
"You're welcome to join us," Evan found himself saying, "maybe you can give us a kind of tourb while we search, and we can find answers together."
"I'd like that, "he smiled, "This house had a way of making you feel lonely and not alone at the same time."
So much time had gone by during the story that they were far off schedule. No one seemed to care because it was new information, and the whole project was about discovery.
The views just kept going up. The addition of Tyler and the empathy people felt for his account of the incidents really caught the eye of the public. Stephen was beside himself with excitement. Val had a small smile, but she looked to be in her own little world. Evan was still processing everything he had just learned. This guy had experienced some real horror, and he just stood there casually discussing it as if he was discussing the weather. He knew he was probably overthinking it. Everyone feels with trauma in their own way. It's not like it happened yesterday.
"Well, we need to go ahead and investigate a little more. Tyler, are you ok to come with us? Maybe add a little more insight into our exploration?" Stephen was determined to make this opportunity work to is advantage. It seemed Tyler noticed as well but had decided to play along.
"I don't mind at all. I usually don't go to the entire house, so maybe it'll be helpful for me. My schedule is pretty open currently, "
"Alright! Evan, grab your gear. Val, are you ready to get going?"
"Val nodded and said, " I ran into a few glitches, but it should be all good now."
"Cool. If anything major occurs, holler at us. We are going to check out the kitchen and greenhouse area. I noticed some areas that looked promising while we were setting up the cameras. I didn't mention it because I wanted to dramatize it a little more, but I think we've met out quota on surprises for a bit. " Stephen glanced at Tyler and smiled at Evan.
"Ok, guys. Just be careful. Something feels off about this place.Though I'm probably just getting the creeps from Tyler's story."
