Chapter 18 - Run!

655 Words
Evan and Val came through the front doors and noticed that Tyler and Stephen had wandered off. "They picked a hell of a time to go sightseeing!" Evan was showing his frustration now. A peculiar incident finally occurs, and they are off good knows where. Val was the voice of train reason as usual. "Something could've happened that needed to be looked into. Let's just wait here and try to find any evidence of this portal looking thing." "You're right. Sorry. I guess I let myself get caught up in the adrenaline of the moment." "It's ok. I am just as worried. I'm just trying to control it. I'm very concerned." They began their search of the room. Looking for anything out of place "Let's just follow this passage. It has to come out somewhere." Stephen didn't wait for the argument. He headed deeper into the hidden space. It was intricately woven throughout the house, so it was easy to miss. He started feeling the excitement. "Hey everyone! Stephen here. I'm exploring this hidden area with Tyler Watson! He's more reluctant than I am, but we soldier on! What mysteries will we unravel at the end of this hidden tunnel!!! I'll keep reporting as we go!" " Dammit, Stephen! I barely know you, and I could wring your neck. You're an i***t for going on here! I told you I wanted to wait for the others. I have a terrible feeling about this place. I'm not even sure why. It's feels like I've been here before. We need to use caution!" Stephen didn't know what all the fuss was about. There'd been no sign of danger at all. He couldn't explain the sudden change in Tyler. This guy was so calm and cool. Why was he floundering now. It's possible he's suffering from mild claustrophobia. Either way, they were solving this thing. They moved on slowly, still scooting sideways. How could the passage be this long? Stephen hoped they'd entered some kind of quantum fold in reality. Something big he could expose. He was surfing a wave of excitement. The passage finally seemed to open up ahead. Stephen pushed his way into the next room. Tyler followed on his heels, and they stopped at a sight they weren't expecting. This room had more of an appearance of catacombs than part of the house. There were strange mounds everywhere. As they shuffled forward, they kicked what sounded like pieces of kindling across the floor. "What is this?"Stephen asked more to himself, but Tyler unconsciously responded. "This place scares me. This shouldn't be here. We should go." "Give me a minute, and we will. I just want some footage. Hey. Look at this! Another one of those rats." The rat was just sitting there looking at the boys. It looked just like the ones they'd seen before. Perhaps it found more food. Stephen shined the light at its feet and decided it was time to go. He took one last look at the rat and saw it sniff the air and run. These rats weren't scared of people. Why did it run? "We need to go!" As they headed towards the way they'd come in, a swirling appeared around them. It was circling faster and faster. Stephen was attempting to send a message to the stream "We are trouble everyone please send help,! I'm not sure what's happened! Someone get Evan. Anyone! Please! The house really is trying to eat us! Evan! I love you! I'm sorry!?!?" Stephen feels to the floor, dropping the camera. He's tried to look up and could only see a hand in front of him. He reached for it, hoping to hold on to Tyler. When he found his grip, the hand fell apart. It was only bones. He felt my portal swallowing him. This had to be a dream. It had to. He thought of Evan as the world went black.
