Chapter 19 - Small Miracles

397 Words
Val! Look at this!" Evan had found a section of disturbed dust against one of the walls. "It looks like they spent some extra time here. Maybe they found a hidden room or something?" "I'm not sure, Evan. That seems a little too convenient, but it does look like it. Let's look for a release of some kind " It wasn't long before they found what they needed and popped open the hidden door. "Well, we both know Stephen. There's no way he'd pass this up. Let's check it out." They both kind of chuckled at picturing Stephen finding this passage. They know he'd be excited. Stephen jumped awake. Had he really dozed off? *What happened?" "Well, we got locked in, but you picked a hell of a time to doze off!" "I'm glad I'm awake. I had a nightmare about this tunnel. All this talk of a gateway to hell has got me screwed up in the head. Maybe we need to get out of here." Just then, the wall patch popped open. Tyler and Stephen looked over to see Val and Evan enter the room. " Jesus, you two. You had us beside ourselves. We came back, and you'd disappeared." Evan was smiling despite his stern words. "Sorry guys," Stephen was feeling weird from that nap,"I dozed off and had a terrible dream about this place. I'm having second thoughts." "Well, it's already 5 am. We would probably try to check upstairs before the sun comes up."Val added. All business now. Everyone excited the room, and it closed soon after. They were all in the main area. Evan wanted to go over what they'd find. "We reviewed all of the footage, and there really is evidence of something resembling a portal appearing in this room. It can't and went within forty-five seconds. The infrared went crazy and the temperature spiked upwards. I'm not sure what that means. Most paranormal incidents show a decrease in temperature. Hopefully, we'll find more evidence as we go." "We need to be careful," added Tyler." I've had a bad feeling since we found that room. We are indeed into something, but I feel like we don't want to discover what" Everyone agreed, and Stephen related how the hell portal had been in his dream. They decided to check out the master bedroom, and if anything else happened, they were leaving.
