"You're Vincent Rogers?! The caretaker that used to manage this property!?!?" "Indeed I am. And I know more than anyone the dangers of this place. You should leave at once. I can't believe anyone would enter here." "Well, sir, we aren't afraid. We have plenty of equipment and have taken every measure to ensure our safety. You need to hit the bricks granddad! Weren't you in a merger, l mental hospital or something?" Stephen always picked the worst time to show his courage. The old man looked at them all and seemed to go back into the mental shadows again. "Warn them. I tried to warn them. Foolish. Kids are foolish. It'll bite them. This house is alive." As the rambling began anew, three squad care can quickly to the front is the place. They established a perimeter with their vehicles and got out as is they had just cornered the world's most wanted terrorist. It was the most action they'd seen in a while. "You kids back away from him," an officer yelled loudly, "This man is dangerous. Place move to the side." They, of course, complied with haste. Evan wondered how this man could be a danger to anyone. He didn't even seem to know what planet he was on. "Vincent Rogers! You need to lay on the ground and surrender! I repeat! You need to surrender! Come along peacefully! There's no need for anymore violence!" Vincent just kept mumbling to himself. "Kids in danger. Don't feed the house. Let it die. Fire. It must die. "Vincent Rogers, I need you to comply, or we will be forced to take action!" "House is hungry. Doesn't need children. Needs to die" "This is your last warning!" "The house must die. You protect the house. You must die too!" The light was back in the old man's eyes. He moved so quickly that no one was prepared. He got across the first police car and got the officer. He was too stunned to react. Vincent was attempting to wrestle the gun away when it went off and hit another officer in the leg. Once the gun went off, the officer on the ground came to his senses and began fighting back. Vincent was crazed. Screaming about the house needing to die. The officer took advantage and managed to pin him on the ground. They were all moving now. One calling for an ambulance for a downed officer. The other was bringing cuffs to lock down this wild animal that appeared to be an elderly man. They cuffed his hands and feet and chained them behind his back. They then connected the chains with another to keep him stationary. He was still trying to roll and bite as they picked him up and tossed him on his stomach in the closest cruiser. Time had seemed to stand still, but it was all over in under a minute. Evan, Val, and Stephen just stood in place bewildered. Had that really just happened?
