CHAPTER THIRTY
“Adams?” Captain Rojas beckoned Alexis from his office door. “Could you come in here, please?”
“s**t. What does he want?” She slipped in through the parted door. “Yes, sir?”
Rojas stood in front of his desk, leaning back on it. “Close the door, please.”
“Is this about the Hancock case?” She held her hands in front of her. “Kevin’s still the prime suspect but we’re looking more into Divina Devlin.”
He made jerky movements. “Stay away from Grant, okay?”
“This again? You gonna suspend me if I don’t stop ‘harassing’ him? Trust me, he’s enjoying it.”
“I’m talking about your safety, Alexis. He’s more dangerous than you can imagine. Don’t let him get his hooks into you.”
She struggled to read his puzzling expression. “For once and for all what are you into with Grant?”
