“Easy.” Kevin helped Alexis into her front door. “Take it easy.”
“I told you I’m fine.” The pitch increased in her voice. “I’m not an invalid.”
He walked her through the messy living room and lowered her on the couch. “It’s time you told me what happened.”
She relayed the details, ignoring the nagging head pain. “What are you thinking?”
He sighed, holding his waist. “I’ll kill him.”

“Grant. How could he do this to you and he claims he cares? I’m gonna jump in my car and go beat his old ass.”
“No, you are not.” Alexis stood, her temples throbbing. “Grant’s a desperate man now, and it’s obvious Leo and I are getting close to what he’s hiding. He won’t hesitate to hurt you if you get in the way.”
