CHAPTER NINETEEN Five Days Later Alexis turned as something soft touched the back of her neck. Grant stood behind her in the police station file room. “For you.” He held a bouquet of assorted flowers. She snatched a file out the cabinet and closed the drawer. “You’re not supposed to be back here.” He waved the flowers. “I don’t want them.” She sat at the table. He laid them on the windowsill. “Maybe you’ll change your mind.” “Don’t hold your breath.” She pulled reports from the folder. “What do you want?” “Besides you?” She read over the reports. “I’m busy.” “With the Hancock case?” She cleared her throat. “Yes.” “Interesting.” He rested his butt on the table, wearing a different cologne than usual.
