CHAPTER TWENTY-FOUR Grant came in, pushing a large, horizontal glass case with wheels. “You said you wanted to see a side of me people don’t see.” He opened the case. Swords of various shapes and sizes hung from hooks. “I collect swords.” He beamed. “It’s a secret obsession.” “Swords?” “I’ve been into them since I was a kid, and I’ve been fencing since I was twelve.” He ran his hands across the gold and silver handles. “You like them?” “Uh—” “I have Viking swords and Celtic swords.” He pointed to a regal-looking one. “This is a European Saber.” Swords? This is too much. “What do you do with them? Just look at them?” “No, I like to play with them.” “Play?” “Ever used a sword, Alexis?” “Hell no.” “It’s fun.” He retrieved two sharp-pointed swords with basket hilts for handles.
