The party

POV- 1st person (Spade) Setting- Castle, Ball room. -.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.- I looked at Ben, he looked at me with terror in his eyes. Anytime father was coming was a time to be frightened. But I put on a brave face and looked at the door. He opened it, and he looked irritated. "What are you doing." He said with a cold tone. "What? I can't talk to the only one that understands me?" I snapped back. "Look here you little brat, I don't have time for this. We all have to go to a royal ball. That includes you. So put on something nice for once." He yelled angrily as he slammed the door. When he left, all of the tension seemed to leave the room. "A royal ball, well this is a surprise. I bet your not- huh?" He stopped mid sentence and looked at me. He wasn't expecting me to be happy. But he saw that I had a giddy smile on my face. I usually don't like royal dances. But I realized something. I turned to face Ben and I cupped his face with my hands. "This is our chance! We can escape tonight!" I said excitedly. "What are you planning?" He asked skeptically. "We get there by foot right? All you have to do is steal some horses from our family pasture, sneak them outside the gate and sneak back in to wait until the time is right!" I explained jumping up and down slightly. "But how would I get outside the gate?" He wondered. "The other royal's and lords will be coming through the gate. Just act like a trader and sneak out. And when you have the horses under my window just wait there if you can't sneak back in." I explained. He stared at me for a moment. "Wow, you have this whole thing figured out don't you?" He asked. "Yes I do! Now help me pick out a dress!" "I thought you hate dresses?" He questioned. "Oh trust me I do. But I am to excited to be mad right now!" I exclaimed. -.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.- I was downstairs waiting for mother and father to join me. I looked behind me and they were walking down the stairs. Mother is in a light pink dress that compliment her sky blue eyes. Father was in an all black suit with a white collar. Once they got to ground level, father didn't say anything. He just left expecting us to follow. And we did. "You look nice mother..." I whispered. She looked down and smiled. "Thank you sweetheart." She said. We didn't have to walk far. It was only a building over since it was connected to the castle. Once we went inside, as usual we all put on fake smiles. But Im used to it. We walked in and all the attention turned to us. Mostly my father and mother, but once in a while I will get asked a question or two. The only other higher ups that are here are three lords. -.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.- Rose, Lord of Fiodern. Age 29 She has long, dark brown hair and light brown skin. She wears a sleek black dress that goes down to her feet. She also has a black cape on. But on the inside it is blood red. She has blood red eyes and brown boots on with a gold buckle. She always wears a gold necklace around her neck that is a cross and holds a white pearl in the middle. She is usually the center of attention because of how beautiful she is. Though she usually gives off a cold vibe because of her attitude and strength. I can tell she is kind. Leif, Lord of Ancienla. Age 27 He is an Elf that has short, light, army green hair and dark brown skin. He wears an assortment of red and pink roses on his head. He has leaf-like pastel green wings. He also has emerald green eyes with freckles. He is wearing a white cloak with a hood. On his cloak are some faint patterns of gold that you can only see up close. He is also wearing yellow boots. He is the calm and quiet type, but he isn't afraid to speak his mind. And because he is so pretty he sometimes gets attention from the lady's. Though he usually brushes them off. Casey, Lord of Captiosus. Age 23 He is wearing a white shirt with a black jacket on and dark blue jeans. His outfit is tied off with an orange bow around his collar. He is also wearing faded red boots. On one of his arms his sleeve is down with a white glove on. On the other the sleeve is rolled up showing a gold watch. He has tangerine orange eyes with black, slim, round glasses and freckles. He has blonde hair and Elf ears. He is normally seen with a book in hand. Despite his age, he is the smartest of the three lords at the party. -.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.- There was supposed to be another lord attending the party, but she was not there. Which is understandable. The reason why there are so few higher ups here is because most of them have figured out father's true self and refused to be an ally to him anymore. I kind of feel bad for the Lords because they are blinded by his facade to see his true self. I am allowed to make conversation with the lords. My dad knows that I won't tell them the truth because it is a double edged sword. If I do, they will lose trust in my father and disband the alliance. But father will punish me greatly if I did. So I keep my mouth shut. I leave father and mother behind to go talk to Casey. Who in a way is my best friend. "Hi Casey!" I say waving trying to catch his attention. "Hm? Oh hi Spade!" He responds putting his book down. "How have you been?" "I've been great!" I say. Though that was obviously a lie. "That's good I-" He stops and his attention switches to Rose. He leaned over to me. "Hey why do you think she's staring at us?" He whispered. "Staring?" I said confused as I scanned the giant room for her. The layout of this area is simple. There is a wide open first floor for all the common folk. And then there are stairs leading to the second floor where the more important people converse and watch other's dance. Sure enough Rose was standing talking to other seemingly important people. But I could see she was staring at me out of the corner of her eye. "She is really good at intimidating people..." I thought as shivers went down my spine. "Maybe she wants to talk to you?" Casey suggested. "Maybe. Wait for me ok?" I said as I started to walk away. "I'll be here!" He shouted while sitting back down with his book. Rose excused herself from her conversation and walked towards me. She had a glass with red wine in it. When we were in front of each other, people could really see the height difference. Even though im only five years younger than her, she is at least 6ft. Way taller than the average woman. "Did you need something?" I ask skeptically. Me and her never really talked to each other, so her turning her attention towards me was a surprise. "Your faking." She said nonchalantly. I was shocked that she could tell. But I didn't want her to know that. I've always known that she was good at looking through people. But I didn't think she was this good. "What do you mean? Faking what?" I asked sounding confused. She stared at me for a few moments. "Come with me." She said with a surprisingly soft tone as she started to walk towards the stairs. I quickly followed her. On the way to the stairs we passed father. He glanced at me but quickly looked the other way. "Wow I guess he really doesn't care." I thought as we reached the bottom of the steps. Rose started to walk through the crowd with her glass in hand. I followed her but it was a little difficult to keep up as she quickened her pace. We finally got through the crowd and outside. She was facing the building as I walked out and shut the doors behind me. "What do you need Rose?" I asked again. She furrowed her brows. "First, drop the act." She said demandingly. I sighed and looked up at her, no longer smiling. "I did it. Now what do you want?" I said with a cold and questioning tone. She smirked. "Why were you putting up an act? Don't like the party?" She asked. "It's not that." I say. "Then what is it princess?"
