18 Over the next few weeks, Cari and Kate held interviews for kitchen help. Kate thought it would be better to have a breakfast and lunch cook as well as a pastry chef to do the baking, who could then expand to special occasion cakes. It was taking longer than Kate expected. There were several good candidates but small-town life wasn’t for everyone, and so far, they were coming up empty. Every couple of weeks Don traveled between the winery and Loudon. He understood plans for the bistro were on hold until Kate could spend time with the architect. She pondered names that would draw people into the restaurant and complement the winery.
