-Oh, sh*t! - That was all Amelia was thinking right now. How could this happen? She was trying so hard, making sure she left no tracks. Together with Shadow, they were crossing rivers and streams to wash off her scent, which was not strong anyway. The girl was hoping that the last storm would finally help her to get rid of them, but apparently, it was not enough. She still couldn't believe that they found her so fast.
- Moon Goddess, please help us! - She was begging quietly.
Alpha Samuel sent his best trackers after her! As far as she knew them, neither Hank nor Tom would give up easily. Alpha was desperate to get her back, but it would not happen. She prefers to die right now, right here. Maybe not now, but it was still the better option than coming back to the Black Moon. Then she would surely die, but that would be a long and painful death.
- Shift!! We can outrun them!! Quick!! - That was Shadow, shouting in her head.
- No way !! He doesn't know that I have you. He cannot know that. If they discover it, they will hurt you. He will make me shift and will hurt you. I can't let them let him hurt you, Shadow.
Amelia was running through the woods, panting heavily. Branches were hitting her face, but she didn't care. She cannot let them catch her again.
They were close, too close for her liking. Amelia could hear them running through the forest. They were playing with her. Why are they not shifting?
She would have no chance against two well-trained trackers in their wolve's form. What kind of sick game was it?
But there was not much time for thinking.
Even in their human form, they were better trained and stronger than Amelia.
She could hear them coming closer. It didn't matter how fast she tried to run.
The bad luck was definitely on her side. Amelia slipped on the rock, and a wave of pain shot through her ankle. The girl whined and fell on her knees. The run was over.
- That was fun, but it is time to return to your Alpa.- Hank approached her, smirking. - Chasing you was pretty amusing. Amelia glared at him coldly. How much she hated this man right now.
Amelia hung her head, devastated. All her plans and dreams were lost. There is no freedom, just torture again.
No!! She is not giving up! Not like that.
She stood up, shaking her head, and let out a growl. Until she is alive, there is still hope.
Tom burst into laughter.
-Do you want to bite us with those little human teeth? Hilarious!
- Girl, I am begging, just let me out, then we will have some chance.- Shadow was getting crazy in her head. She wanted to fight against them to save her little Dove or at least force them to kill her.
- Not yet, Shadow. We will do it if there is no other option. -Amelia was not in the mood for arguing. She knew there was no way to beat them. She had no chance to train, so she had no skills. But she will do her best.
Hank jumped swiftly, closing the space between him and the girl. She felt his nasty, hot breath on her skin. She shivered in disgust.
- Give up! I am not getting any younger. (This is a lame joke, werewolves do not age like humans). We are taking you to Alpha.- He snapped at her, and after that, he grabbed her arm, squeezing it painfully, showing her there would be no mercy if she tried to fight.
- No!!! Let me go!! No !!! -Amelia was screaming, trying to free herself.
Hank smacked her on her face.- Shut up!! Or I will kill you right now!
Amelia's sight was blurred after the smack she received, yet she could still see the blue light that surrounded her a moment later. She heard the screams of her tormentors, followed by the sound of two bodies falling on the ground.
- If a woman says no, it means no, you idiot.- There was a happy, girly voice behind her.
What the hell, was someone else here?
Amelia turned her head in the direction of the unexpected sound.
Her vision was still a bit blurry, but after a few seconds, she saw a young woman in her 20s with bright red hair. She had eyes in the most amazing green color Amelia had ever seen.
- Come on, let me help you. We need to go. They will wake up, eventually. Hurry up!- The woman in front offered her a hand, which Amelia took after a moment of hesitation.
-Don't be scared. I just saved your life, didn't I? We need to go to my place, where you can rest. You look like someone who needs a good sleep and maybe a cup of tea. Then you will tell me your story. I am pretty sure it is quite interesting. An unknown woman gave her a small smile.
Amelia wondered how this woman could be so calm and relaxed even, after all, what had just happened.
~She bears a great power. I can feel it. Please do not get fooled by how she looks.~ Shadow warned her.
-I am sure you want to consult the current situation with your wolf, but trust me, there are better places to do it.
Amelia looked at the girl with utter shock!
How on Earth did she know? No one, not a single soul, ever discovered that she had her wolf already. And this woman saw her for the first time, literally five minutes ago.
~ Told you that she is not the one who she seems to be. We shouldn't underestimate her. But I feel she is no harm to us.
I think she is a good person, and we can trust her. ~Shadow said in her mind, and Amelia made her decision. The girl felt better after Shadow's words. She could always recognize what other people were like.
- I am sorry. That wasn't nice. Please help me.- The girl said quietly.
- That's much better. Come, we need to go. It is getting dark, and it is a pretty long way to my house.- The mysterious woman offered a small smile.
Amelia grabbed her backpack and followed behind a woman who had just saved her.
- I am Alice, by the way. Sorry there was no time to introduce myself earlier. And you are? - The redhead broke the silence between them.
- Hmm, Amelia.
- And? - Alice asked, looking at the girl with a slight smile on her lips.
- Shadow, her name is Shadow. But how...- Amelia tried to ask, but Alice interrupted her.
- How did I know you were a werewolf? I can sense it.
-But...
- No, no honey, there will be time for everything. Let's stay focused on taking you both safely to my place. Then we will talk when you get some rest.
Amelia had no other choice than to follow Alice.
They arrive at the woman's home after an hour. It was a little, cute cottage in the middle of the forest.
- We are home- Alice said with a big smile on her pretty face.
After those words, Amelia's body finally gave up, and she sat, or more slipped to the ground. The last thing she saw before darkness consumed her was Alice's face.
