Chapter Six

She sat on her chair staring at the two men in front of her, still thinking how she got there in the first place . “Really Roman? You can’t let me have the spotlight in peace?” “Well, I thought I was summoned.” He said eyes fixed on her. “No you were not!” “Aren’t you going to introduce me to your new found night stand?” It felt like a light switch was just turned on in her head. She jumped up immediately as if she were ready to pounce on his 6’3 self with her 5’1 body. The two men watched in awe as she pointed a finger directly at his face. They were amused, because she was so short, and she was looking up to him, I mean, just picture that David and Goliath scene and you’d understand what I mean. “You’re going about telling people we had a one night stand!” She shrieked. “What do you mean?” “What, what do I mean?? You know what?” By now, he had withdrawn from the extra features and seemed pretty normal, and Roman looked, well, Roman. “What?” “You think your magic is so great, you think you can persuade me into believing your vampire bullshit?” The two men were astonished, Harry’s mouth hung open. She threw the flowers on him and he caught it by reflex. She grabbed him by his elbow dragging him to her door, “Enough with the games. I’m not interested in talking to you. Getting to know you. Going on a flippin’ date with you! Leave me alone!” She said howling at him. “Did you not just see everything that happened in this room?” Harry asked, looking around like there was some ghost in her house. “He literally walked through a wall!” He said trying to point out the obvious incase she missed it. “Effects you mean? Please, I’m too smart to buy into your games. Get. Out.” She opened her door standing at the doorway and pointing outside. The two men were speechless. That was not the reaction they were opting for, “Did she not see all of that? Roman? Aren’t you going to say something?” “Me? Oh this is a you problem Harry my boy.” Roman said smiling as he walked out the door, Harry kept staring at her in disbelief, “What are you waiting for? Thinking of another magic trick to support your stunt?” With zero patience left inside of her, she grabbed his elbow and threw him out. “Stay out!” She yelled and banged the door in his face. ~~~ “Did she just… bang a door , in my face?” He asked rhetorically still standing in front of the door, pointing his index finger to his face. He started banging on her door, the door swung open and she threw the flower in his face and banged the door in face. Again. “I think she just did. This one’s feisty, I like her.” Roman said lighting his cigar. “Is there something wrong?” Harry asked concerned. “How do you mean?” “I had nails grow longer, eyes change color, wind blowing here and there, canine longer, color of veins popping out on a skin that was becoming white and pale, you walked through a wall! How did all of that just go over her head??” He asked in disbelief. “Rejection sucks, doesn’t it?” Roman said, keeping the smirk on his face. “This is not a joke Roman. It’s not adding up.” “My boy, I don’t have any answers to your new found love interest. I’m just here as a reminder. The clock is ticking.” He said walking into yet another wall and disappearing. Harry looked down at the flowers that were laying on the floor, he picked it up, dusted it and walked away from her door. ‘Am I no longer terrifying? Spine-chilling? Have I lost my touch?” He said scratching the back of his neck. He looked back at her building, before getting into his car and speeding away. “You have a business meeting right now sir.” “Cancel it.” “What?” “I have something else that we need to focus on.” “This contract is worth billions,” “I’ve lived long enough and I’ve more than billions for that to scare me. Cancel it and get to my office with immediate effect.” He walked away, undoing the knot of his tie and flinging it across the room of his office, unbuttoning his shirt, revealing his perfectly sculpted body. He stared at the mirror, disbelief painted all over it. “Am I no longer attractive?” He asked himself. The fact that he has been told no multiple number of times by the same woman in a span of a few days seemed unwary, and it was driving him insane. “How could she say that all of what she saw was a magic show? A magic show? Someone walked through the walls of her house and that’s a magic show? That girl is crazy. One hundred percent nuts, deranged, mentally unstable,” he said ruffling his hair in frustration before falling into the sofa couch in his office. The sun reflected on his glistening skin, the fire dragon tattoo standing out, his eyes shut for a moment, taking in the scene again then he felt a rush of anger swell up inside and he jolted up, pacing up and down, from scratching his head, to rubbing his chin and then he sat back on the couch. There was a light knock on his door, “Come in.” The door creaked open revealing his assistant. Immediately Harry rushed to him, pulling him inside and plopping him down on the couch, making sure to lock his door, leaving the poor assistant perplexed. “Is everything alright?” He asked raising a brow. “No. Not in any possible way!” “What’s going on?” “Do you see me?” “Umm… yeah? Why? Are you meant to be invisible?” “Haha, very funny. You can see me! Now,” he had his canine tooth out , “you see this too right?” He said raising his nails, revealing his vampire state. “Is there a point to all of this? You just bailed on a very important meeting which I have managed to postpone because it’s worth a lot.” “Forget that and just answer my damn question” “Yes. I do see it, I have seen it for the umpteenth time.” “Do you remember your reaction the first time you saw all of this?” “Does this involve the woman you had me dig up info about?” “Just. Answer.” He said rolling his eyes. “Terrified obviously. Who sees that and thinks it’s normal and reacts normally?” “Exactly!!!” He exclaimed throwing his hands up in exasperation. “Exactly my point. Exactly the point I’ve been trying to make. It does not make sense!” “Can I ask what’s happening now?” “Dig up more info about this girl, especially her past relationships. Her family history, I need those especially, well documented.” “I’m just going to act like all of this drama isn’t happening.” “I need those reports as soon as possible. Tonight.” “Tonight? That’s absurd. I have other things that requires my attention.” “You will drop every other thing and focus on this single one. Am I understood?” “This is going out of my line of job description…” “I’ll triple your salary for this month,” Harry said placing his hands on his assistant’s shoulders, his eyes pleading, “Fine. I’ll do it but you need to undo what this girl has done to you, it’s scary.” He said picking up his belongings and leaving. The moment his assistant walked out the door, Roman walked through the wall, “Interesting.” He said startling Harry who jumped back. “What the hell Roman. How many times should I remind you that I do not fancy sneaking up on me?” “The day you realize that I do not care.” Harry rolled his eyes, plopping down on the couch, crossing one leg over the other. “So, what’s this commotion I have been feeling from miles away?” “I hate you. I hate that this happens. You just get to sneak up on me just because we’re now somehow connected.” “That doesn’t answer my question.” “She’s stressing my brain cells Roman. Who first of all says no to me? Me!” “Why is that so shocking?” “No one, I repeat, absolutely no one has looked at me and not given in immediately.” “So your ego is hurt because she threw you out of her house? This is very entertaining to watch if you ask me.” “Why am I even speaking to you?” “So, Mr. hurt ego, what’s your plan now?” “I’m going to break her. She will fall for me.” “And?” “What do you mean and? She has to pay,” “Pay? For? Not bowing at your feet? You know, asides the fact that I took you in as mine, your parents spoilt you rotten for sure.” “Really?” “Are you forgetting the work you have to do? You have until your birthday and this won’t even exist in this life or any other for that matter.” “That’s not a big deal. I can always fall in love anytime if I want to.” Roman bursted out laughing, “The mere fact that you think that falling in love is like drawing this sun in the corner of your arts drawing like a child, amuses me. Falling in love, being in love Harry, requires a human to be vulnerable with no ego. The massive one you carry on you right now. How can I be teaching you these things when you were once human?” “Well don’t blame me, the assassins came in when I was much younger. I never fell in love.” “And yet, you despise it? What’s that thing you humans call it… uhh… therapy!” He snapped his finger. “You need therapy and you need to get it asap before you completely go nuts. Keep giving me more contents, it’s entertaining now that I don’t have much to do.” He said smiling before disappearing into yet another wall. Harry threw his vase to the floor in anger and first ration. “Who the hell is this girl?”
