Chapter Four

1673 Words
"Lisa Jones?" I called her as I saw her walk past me in the hospital. She turned on her heels to face me, she looked different from when i met her, beautifully different. Hair tied up in a ponytail, dressed up in a blue scrub and crocs, files in her hand. stethoscope hanging on her neck and the nerdy glasses, she stared at me for a while, looking around the room, probably noticing the stares in our direction,  "really not happy to see you. Why are you here?" "this is a hospital," "I know, and celebrities hardly ever come by. So why you're coincidentally in my place of work is a thing of concern to me right now." "you shouldn't be rude to the man who gave you a roof over your head so late at night," "and he tried to take advantage because he thought he had the upper hand? give yourself a brain please. I know you stick mostly to scripts, but it won't hurt to have a brain of your own. While I would like to stand here and throw my hate on you, I have patients that need my attention. Excuse me," that was one way to say hello to an out going patient. I watched her walk away from me, trying to avoid the stares from her co-workers, and the other patients waiting around.  "Mr. Harry? Mind if I take a selfie?" a random lady asked. I smiled politely at her, and nodded standing by her side, I should be used to the stares by now, the requests for selfies and autographs, but sometimes I just wish I was killed back then, wish I didn't suffer the consequences I'm facing now. The effects have begun to show slightly, my body temperature can shoot up as high as when it wants to, and sometimes, it can come down as low as, and the blood in my veins get dried up quickly. Let's not forget the frequent eye changes, and the black veins, most of the time my fans thinks that how I dress is literally me making my own trend, but the real truth is hiding these little signs from them, the part which I dread most is the part where my hair falls off, sometimes, the color of my hair goes grey, my lips turn white, all of these things and many more drives me to finding the cure to this as soon as possible, and while it seems like I have found it, it only seems further and further away from my reach. Before I knew it, I was crowded by a lot of people, for autographs and selfies, until James came in with two hefty body guards taking the people away from me.  "I need to see a doctor." I told the receptionist. She was utterly at a loss of words, I could see it written all over her face, one smile and she'd be wet for me, no pressure, but I wasn't ready for games yet. My attention was required for far more important situations, "you'd... you... you would need to set an appointment with one of our doctors." she stammered. I smiled at her, hoping to ease the tension on her side, but it only seems as though I put her under more as beads of sweat began to form on her forehead,  "I want an appointment with Lisa Jones." "Lisa?"  "yes, any problem?" "no, no problem at all. You need to speak to her about it then, she has a lot of patients to attend to, she also has dates slotted for surgery as well,"  "she's a surgeon?" I asked rhetorically, but she answered anyways, "so there is no way you could steal a spot for me?"  "it's very impossible with Lisa, she's too occupied with every other patient, with serious medical issues," "and who says I don't have any serious medical issues?" "we have other doctors whose schedule is not as tight as hers," "I want Lisa to attend to me. Lisa or no one else," the surprise on her face could not be hidden, Lisa is too stubborn, and being all soft will have her taking me for granted. " I could hand you a cheque right now, worth ten thousand dollars, if only you could fulfill that simple task for me." her eyes widened making me amused. Of course, money rings a certain bell in the ears of those not so privileged to have it at their disposal. "okay, but she shouldn't know anything about this. She's got a free slot tomorrow at ten p.m. You can come by then," "good girl, thank you. James, hand her a cheque of ten thousand, I'll be leaving now." who says money can't buy anything, that's all lies. Money buys every single thing, every damn thing you can imagine, even love.  Walking out of the hospital someone bumped into me, on purpose, making sure her bust made contact with me, taking a step back, she was average in height, but really curvy, with fully plumped lips, "Oh my goodness, Harry, I'm so sorry I bumped into you, I didn't see you there," she looked like she was also working there, she had her scrubs on as well with a badge on her chest and stethoscope on her neck,  "Laurel," I called the name on the badge, she batted her lashes non-stop as she nodded, her cheeks turning pick, too easy if you ask me, this game is too boring, doing the same old,  "you work here?' I asked her and she nodded delightedly. She might as well be useful to me,  "so that means you know Lisa Jones?" I asked her, her countenance changed immediately, like she didn't like the mention of the name,  "Lisa? You know Lisa? she's my best friend," she said trying to regain her composure but baby girl had already given everything off,  "nice, nice, you're best suited for this then, can you help me with something?" "what's that?" "I'll pay you handsomely for it," I added, as predicted, her eyes lit up with excitement eager for the task as a child eagerly waiting to get a new toy as promised. Oh dear Lisa, how the tables keep turning in my favor proves that we're destined to have met so stop trying to alter destiny for the sake of both of us.   ~~~~~ "gurrrlllll,"  "what is it Laurel?" "guess who I bumped into today?"  "a hot guy with loads of cash," I said trying to focus on the coffee and stay focused on my job with the new distraction that wants to set in, that Harry guy is really full of himself, he probably used his power to stalk me all the way down here, and probably expected some highly respected greetings, it's been a week or two since our last encounter. He should leave me be, I already regret meeting him at the bar. If only Damian had kept his pants up I'd be planning for a wedding right now, and this two faced b***h in my face would have been my bridesmaid.  "Lisaaa?"  "what?" "were you even paying attention?" "I'm seriously not down for your hooking up escapades," "but it cpould really help you , yunno?" "how? wrecking my relationship like it does to yours?" I asked her, she's always sleeping around with different men, and it irks me, she has little or no regard for her boyfriend, all they keep doing is fight and fight and fight, then somehow I'd be dragged into the issue with Damian, now I understand why he was never really interested, he was busy banging her behind my back and her boyfriend has been patient enough with her, I wonder how long he can keep up with her, it's totally frustrating and I understand. He's too loving and loyal, the guy is head over heels for Laurel, he has lost his head, he still hopes for some miracle in her character, and while I may be hoping for the same, it seems too far-fetched. I wish she could pin her head down and focus on him and make a meaning of her relationship, not always being toxic,  "Lisaa!!" "Laurel? What is it? You keep calling my name and yet you say nothing," "that is because you keep zoning out before I get to speak," "fine. I'm all ears," "good. So I was saying you should guess who I bumped into today," "Beck's older brother?" "be serious Lisa," "I'm being serious here," "just take a huge guess," "Laurel, I've made my major guesses, and you seem pretty excited about whoever you met so stop with the suspense and spill already." "okay, Harry. Harry Einstfield. Harry the actor, the star? the busin...." "I know who Harry is, that was the major cause of your excitement? so sad." "what's that supposed to mean?"  "nothing." "the guy is..." "please Laurel, if we're talking about this guy, then I don't want to, he's not worth my stress. I have a surgery to attend to right now with my superiors, and Harry, isn't worth the time. Toodles," "you're totally missing out babe. The guy's loaded you won't even need this stupid job," 'I'm having this job because it has always been my passion to be a doctor not the money, okay? don't mix that up," "listen, I know you and Damian didn't work out and your parents have been divorced but you shouldn't give up already," "Laurel, there is a line that everyone needs to know they shouldn't cross. You're my best friend and you slept with my fiancé, and you don't even feel bad about it, and now you bring up my parents relationship? Don't ever make this mistake again or else I will unleash my fury on you. This discussion is over." I said gulping down the last coffee and tossing the cup in the trash before leaving the hospital cafeteria. Till today, I always think of what exactly brought me together with Laurel, we don't see things the same way, our lives and goals are totally different and she's always back stabbing me, or lying to me, or cheating me, or whatever she ever wants to do, to me, and all I do is stand up for her, try my best to not let her for once good relationship shatter. Too opposite for each other.
