Chapter 11-19

Chapter 11: Shattered Illusions Sera walked blindly down the hallway, her vision blurred by unshed tears. The voices around her faded into the background, their whispers nothing but static in her ears. It was all a dare. All of it was fake. She wanted to scream, to break something, to tear down the walls that suddenly felt like they were closing in on her. But more than anything, she wanted to erase the past few months—the moments she allowed herself to believe, to hope, to fall. And the worst part? She wasn’t even surprised. --- Meanwhile, Ino stood frozen in the cafeteria, his fists clenched so tightly his knuckles turned white. He wanted to run after her, to explain, to tell her—what, exactly? That he didn’t mean for it to turn out this way? That the dare was real, but so were his feelings? That he was a coward for not telling her sooner? None of it mattered now. The damage was done. And for the first time in his life, Ino felt like he had lost something he could never get back. ---- Chapter 12: The Final Confrontation Sera didn’t go home. Instead, she found herself at the abandoned rooftop of an old school building—her sanctuary. The only place where she could breathe. But of course, he found her. "Sera—" "Leave." Her voice was cold, emotionless. But her hands trembled at her sides, her nails digging into her palms. Ino took a hesitant step forward. "Please, just listen to me—" "Listen to what, Ino?" she cut him off, finally meeting his eyes. "To more lies?" "I never meant to hurt you," he said, his voice quieter now, almost desperate. Sera let out a bitter laugh. "But you did." She took a shaky breath, forcing herself to stay composed. "You were the only one I let in, the only one I thought I could trust. And the whole time, I was just another game to you." Ino stepped closer, reaching out as if to touch her, but she stepped back. "No," she whispered. "You don't get to do that. You don't get to act like you care." "I do care!" Ino burst out. "Damn it, Sera! I didn’t expect to—" He stopped himself, raking a hand through his hair in frustration. "I didn’t expect to actually—" "Fall for me?" she finished for him, her voice hollow. "Too bad, Ino. Because I stopped believing you the moment I realized you were never going to tell me the truth." A beat of silence stretched between them. Then Sera exhaled, forcing herself to stay strong. "This? Us? Whatever this was? It’s over." She turned away before he could see the tears finally spill down her cheeks. And for the first time, Ino let her go. ---- Chapter 13: The Aftermath Sera disappeared. Not literally, but she might as well have. The next day, she wasn’t in school. The days that followed were the same. Her locker remained untouched, her usual seat in class empty. At first, people whispered. Some laughed, saying she must have been too embarrassed to show her face. Others simply didn’t care. But Ino? Ino was drowning. Days passed, then weeks. He knocked on her apartment door, but there was no answer. He waited outside for hours, but she never came. The landlord didn’t say much, only that she had left. No forwarding address. No explanation. She was just… gone. And for the first time in his life, Mrackino Fabio Fuentes Ãccetta felt utterly, painfully alone. ---- Chapter 14: Four Years Later The past no longer existed for Ino. Or at least, that’s what he told himself. After Sera disappeared, he tried to forget. He convinced himself that she had moved on, so he had to do the same. But he never did. Instead, he buried himself in distractions—women, parties, fights, anything to keep his mind from the ghost of the girl who left without a goodbye. Until one day, he snapped. The nightmares were getting worse. His chest ached in a way he couldn't explain. He kept seeing glimpses of her in every crowded street, hearing her voice in the wind. It was getting out of control. So he did what he never thought he would do. He got help. Therapy wasn’t easy. At first, he hated it. Hated being forced to dig through the mess of emotions he spent years pretending didn’t exist. But then he met her. Musea Vivienne Torres. She was beautiful. Kind. She had a way of making him feel like maybe—just maybe—he could be whole again. And for a while, it worked. Until the past came crashing back. ---- Chapter 15: The Reunion It happened on a rainy afternoon. Ino was leaving a café when he saw her. At first, he thought he was hallucinating again. But this wasn’t a trick of his mind. She was real. Sera Madrigal, standing a few feet away, an umbrella in her hand. His breath caught in his throat. She looked… different. Older. More mature. Her hair was longer, her features sharper. But her eyes—those same eyes that haunted his dreams—still held the same fire. For a moment, time stopped. Then she turned, and their eyes met. And in that instant, every wound, every unspoken word, every piece of his shattered heart came rushing back. She saw him. And the pain in her eyes told him she still hadn’t forgiven him. ---- Chapter 16: Ghosts of the Past Sera’s breath hitched. It wasn’t a dream. It wasn’t her mind playing tricks on her. It was him. Mrackino Fabio Fuentes Ãccetta, standing across from her, looking just as breathtaking as he did four years ago—except now, he looked… older. Sharper. The reckless glint in his eyes was gone, replaced by something heavier. Pain. Guilt. Regret. She should have walked away. She should have turned her back and pretended she never saw him. But she couldn’t move. Her fingers clenched around the umbrella handle as the rain pattered around them. The world faded away, leaving only the two of them, trapped in a moment neither of them expected. “Sera…” His voice was barely a whisper, but she heard it. A shiver ran down her spine. She had imagined this moment for years—what she would say, what she would do if she ever saw him again. But now that it was happening, she felt… nothing. No anger. No sadness. Just… exhaustion. “You’re staring,” she finally said, her voice eerily calm. Ino let out a breath, his lips parting as if to say something—anything. But what could he say? I’m sorry? It was too late for that. “I didn’t think I’d ever see you again,” he admitted, running a hand through his hair. She laughed softly, a humorless sound. “And yet, here we are.” A heavy silence stretched between them, the air thick with everything left unsaid. Then, just as Ino took a step closer, a voice called out behind her. “Sera?” She stiffened. Ino’s jaw clenched. Because standing a few feet away was him—the man who had been walking beside her, now holding a coffee tray and looking between them with confusion. Sera had someone. ---- Chapter 17: A Broken Promise Ino’s world tilted. His hands curled into fists at his sides, his chest tightening in a way he hadn’t felt in years. The man beside Sera stepped closer, his gaze flicking between them. “Who’s this?” Sera hesitated for half a second—just half a second—but it was enough. She turned to the man beside her, offering a small smile. “No one.” Ino flinched. No one. The words hit harder than they should have, knocking the breath from his lungs. This was what he deserved, wasn’t it? He had broken her. Betrayed her. And now, she had erased him. But still—still—he couldn’t stop himself. “I need to talk to you,” he said, his voice rough. Sera raised a brow. “I don’t think that’s necessary.” “It is.” A tense silence. Then, to his surprise, she sighed. “Fine. Five minutes.” She turned to the man beside her. “Go ahead, I’ll catch up.” The man looked hesitant but nodded before walking away. Now, it was just the two of them again. “Make it quick, Ino.” He swallowed hard. “Why did you leave?” Her lips twitched, but there was no humor in her expression. “You already know the answer to that.” “No, I don’t. You disappeared without a trace. You didn’t even—” He stopped himself, shaking his head. “I spent four years looking for you, Sera.” “Why?” she asked, tilting her head. “Guilt?” He exhaled harshly. “Because I—” But he couldn’t say it. Not now. Not when she was looking at him like he was nothing more than a distant memory. She shook her head. “People don’t change, Ino. They just learn how to hide their sins better.” And just like that, she turned and walked away. This time, he didn’t have the strength to stop her. ---- Chapter 18: The Other Woman For the first time in four years, Ino felt like he was losing control again. Sera was back. Alive. Breathing. But she wasn’t his anymore. And he wasn’t hers. Because when he arrived home that night, a familiar figure was waiting for him by his apartment door. Musea Vivienne Torres. His girlfriend. “Hey, babe,” she greeted, smiling as she wrapped her arms around his waist. “You’re late.” Ino stiffened, his mind still reeling from everything that had happened that day. Sera was back. And Musea had no idea. ---- Chapter 19: The Weight of a Name Ino stood frozen at his doorway, Musea’s arms wrapped around him, her warmth pressing into his chest. But all he could feel was the ghost of another touch—the phantom of a girl who once held onto him like he was her only anchor. Sera. His throat tightened, and for a moment, he wondered if he had imagined the entire encounter. Maybe he was losing it, maybe his mind had finally broken after years of searching for someone who no longer existed. But she was real. He had seen her. Spoken to her. And she had called him no one. “Ino?” Musea’s soft voice pulled him back to the present. He forced himself to focus, blinking as he looked down at her. “Yeah?” She smiled, though there was a slight crease in her forehead. “I said you’re late. Where were you?” Lying was easy. He had done it all his life. But for some reason, it felt suffocating now. “I ran into someone,” he admitted, his voice low. Musea’s brow lifted. “Oh? Who?” Ino hesitated. His tongue felt heavy in his mouth, his heart hammering against his ribs. He could still see Sera’s eyes in his mind—the way she looked at him like she had buried him years ago. He swallowed hard. “Just… an old friend.” The words burned. Musea didn’t press, only nodding as she took his hand, leading him inside. But as she spoke about her day, laughing about some incident at work, Ino couldn’t focus. Because in his mind, Sera was still walking away from him. And this time, he had no idea how to bring her back.
