Protect you

Song Recommendation: into your arms by Witt Lowry By honor a gentleman is bound to protect a lady, often a time said gentleman does it not out of honor.. one can only guess the reason.. “You cannot protect me from everything your grace, and you certainly cannot punish them for this” she said meeting his gaze with her fiery blue one. He was the one supposed to be angry here, she had claimed she slipped in the bath! The bath my arse! and to top this profanity b****y Jules had backed up the story, he should have known, but somehow he hadn’t even known she had gone out, yesterday he had been out with Rourke’s and when he had seen her face he had acted like a mad mad, making even her panic, he had wanted badly to send fr a doctor but she had firmly insisted she was fine and had it under control. He had paced her room until she had fallen asleep and then this morning he had heard the real story and God he had been furious. He should have been there. He should have known. He swore to protect her and now she was hurt because of his insensitivity “I should have been there” he said in almost a whisper, his voice much sober and calm “I should have been there and—“ “—it still could have happened” she interrupted him, stepping closer and placing her hand on his cheek, the skin warm beneath her cool hands “you could have been there and I would still have been hurt, and it’s just a bruise , you can’t always predict or control things but we can’t also beat ourselves up for not preventing them” her voice was calm and soothing but sne couldn’t possibly know all the things held himself responsible for, all the things he beat himself up for, her hands on him reminded him that indeed she was here and not crushed under some wrecked carriage. She had spoken about gratitude the other day and he felt a mighty grateful that she hadn’t been too badly hurt. His anger had abated and He simply looked at her weak with reprieve. He schooled his features trying to check his emotions, he touched her face, the swelling had much reduced but the bruise was still a mean shade of red and purple. “Does it still hurt” he asked in a low husky voice and she nodded. “like the very devil” she said smiling, She placed her hand over his on her face, her fingers a trifle cold over his warm ones “ but I have felt worse” she said, and he knew she was right. he also knew he would do anything to take away all the pain she had felt in her life. If he could , he would take it for his own, so she never felt hurt again.
