Brea Barlowe part 3

“Hey Kendra, how’s Brea doing? Are you still having trouble healing her?” I mind-link Brea’s wolf. “Yeah, it’s like I’m being blocked, like she doesn’t want me to heal her.” Kendra sounds exhausted through the link. “Okay I’m still working on getting answers, but I need a vial of Brea’s blood. Is that okay?” I ask Kendra knowing that if she can hear me so can Brea. “Yeah. Just hurry. I don’t like the way her thoughts are going.” Kendra struggles to say. I leave the room and link Sandi, the pack doctor, “Hey Sandi, I need a vial of Brea bloods. Kendra says it’s okay, but she’s struggling to get through.” I link Sandi. “Okay I’ll be right there.” Sandi says without asking what I need it for. A few minutes later Sandi is walking over to me, looking at me strangely. “Why aren’t you in the room with Brea?” She asks. “Stephen is in there.” I say. Nodding Sandi enters Brea’s room, after about five minutes she comes out with a vial of blood. I open it to make sure that it’s Breas’, I know Sandi wouldn’t lie to me but under the command of an Alpha voice anyone is forced to do anything. Taking the cork out of the vial and smelling it I know that it’s Breas’. “Thank you Sandi. I’ll explain later why I need this.” I say out loud. “If I could make a separate link between us like Brea, I’d tell you now. But I can’t have anyone question you and stop me from finding answers. I don’t know if we have a traitor among us or not.” I mind-link her. “Okay Aaron. I’m sure you have your reasons.” Sandi says out loud. “Be careful Aaron.” Sandi mind-links. I give her a wink, “Always am.” I link and leave the hospital to go back to Sophie. On the way to Sophie’s I keep feeling as if I’m being watched but there’s no scent or sounds around me signaling that anyone is physically following me. Once I get closer to Sophie’s house she opens the door before I even reach the first stair. “Come on in.” She says smiling. “So, that was you?” I ask furrowing my brows. “What was me? Watching you?” She says as I enter her home again. “Yeah.” I say. “Of course, I had to make sure that you weren’t being followed this time.” Sophie says. “What do you mean this time?” I asked, confused. “You didn’t know? I thought that’s why you wanted to come in ‘away from prying ears’. Then I said ‘oh right, rogues’. You didn’t sense them. I could feel them as soon as you started walking towards my house the first time.” Sophie says. “They must be the same type of rogues that got on our land and put Tyrene and Brea in the hospital. Are they still on pack lands?” I ask seeing as I didn’t sense anyone. “No they left, not too long after I put the insulation spell. Speaking of.” Sophie says, then repeats the same incantation from earlier after closing the door and lights the sage. “Now it’s safe to talk freely. Did you bring what I asked for?” Sophie asks. “Yeah. Here you go.” I say, handing Sophie Breas’ blood. “Good now don’t get weirded out, okay?” Sophie says. “Okay.” I say getting a little worried. Sophie grabs a ceramic bowl out of her herbs and spices cabinet and dumps Brea blood into it. After combining it with some herbs that I have no idea what they are, she takes a huge whiff of the bowl. “Huh.” Sophie says then sticks her finger in the blood and herb mixture, stirs it around, then licks her finger. “I figured as much. Well now we have our answers. But also more questions.” Sophie says. “What answers?” I ask, patiently waiting for her to tell me. “Before I can tell you I have to put a seal in your mind, so that what I’m about to tell you doesn’t get into the wrong hands.” Sophie says and I agree. So she holds both sides of my head and whispers a new incantation, then a burning sensation happens but quickly stops. “Did it work?” I ask, hoping it did. “Yes, now I can tell you what I found. But after that I have to close the seal. It’s like a vault that I put into your mind that only you have access to.” Sophie says. “Good, now what answers do we have and how do we have more questions?” I ask. “Well, I know what Brea is even if she and her wolf don’t yet. They’ll definitely know when she turns 21. Your Alpha, he isn’t wrong about thinking that Brea is special. And that the Alpha mate bond shared between her and Stephen is rare, mainly due to one or both mates being murdered in extortion of their powers. This specific Alpha mate bond was almost completely wiped out nearly 350 years ago. There are only a few left who share this bond.” Sophie begins explaining. “So, they’re so special because they’re rare and it’s going to put a target on their backs at all times? Is there any way to fix the mate bond so they can reform the bond so that she’ll be safe?” I ask. “You would do that? You would be willing to let her go back to the man who rejected her just because they fated to be together and it would keep her safe? You haven’t even heard the rest. Don’t you want Brea as your mate, your fated?” Sophie asks, looking at me as if I just grew two extra heads. “I’d do anything to make sure that Brea is safe. Especially because I have failed her in that way against Odessa. I never knew what Odessa was doing to the Omega girls but if I did I would’ve killed her on the spot before she ever had a chance to hurt one of them. And as for my feelings for Brea, I’ve loved her since we were in kindergarten, but if Jezanna, the Moon Goddess, has chosen Stephen and Brea to be together, then I need to get them back together.” I say keeping my cards on the card with Sophie because I need her help. “Okay but you’ll want to hear the rest of this first. Then we can talk about getting them back together.” Sophies says looking at me to make sure I’m serious. “Okay. Please, continue.” I say nodding.
