Juan's POV:
A mind-link stopped me from carrying on my paperwork, the warriors on the borders warned me of a breach. Rogues had managed to come through, and I will not let them go. They will be all killed. These rogues must be stupid to have entered my territory. Or just juveniles thinking they can win.
I warned my beta, and he warned the packhouse. We didn't know how many had passed but it is a protocol for all women and children to stay inside the house, few warriors, me and the beta would go first and if we needed more help then we would call the other warriors, we had a lot of fighters, almost 300 hundred. My territory, primary territory, held at least a thousand inhabitants.
I rushed forward to the place, when I arrived three were down, but one was still up. The wolf didn't look to be putting up a fight and was extremely injured. It was a she-wolf. She looks more than scared than anything, and her eyes... they weren't red. I felt mesmerized by her blue eyes when something snapped in me. A bond formed and my wolf Kai realized that this hse-wolf in front of them was his mate. She whimpered loudly and that's when I noticed her bleeding leg and neck. So it was the rogues who attacked her, they perhaps ran here by accident. Or while trying to get her. I shifted quickly, stepping forward to be near her.
"Shift," I ask, putting my alpha voice in charge as a command, but it seemed to not have worked against her, was it because she was my mate.
"Shift! Now!" I order again, but she just slumped down on the floor, she looks tired. A string inside of me felt like it was about to break already. She was dying.
"shift, please," I ask, with a gentler voice. I've never been this gentle before. My hand was on her muzzle, she seemed to marvel at the feeling, of the warmth. She felt so cold. And I worry that she was indeed dying.
Her body went limp as I physically felt her losing her hold on her consciousness, and as this happens. She shifted. There stood a beaten and bloody she-wolf. She looks like a skeleton with how skinny she was, and I wondered how long it had been since she last had a meal, wounds and bruises were everywhere on the body and I was sure that was not from the fight. But her eyes were magnificent and her hair looked like silk. When she shifted I immediately picked her up. "I want the hospital ready for my arrival, the VIP room for the Luna," I said as I ran off, leaving my beta to mind-link and rushed there before me.
It had been a week since this mystery girl appeared in our pack, she was in a coma. My good friend Rex, the pack doctor explained to me that it was her body shutting down to heal from the trauma. She was severely beaten down, and the new injuries could have costed her life, but she managed to stay alive. With the help of medical attention, her bruises disappeared and unhealed wounds had fully healed now. She was fed through a tube and in only a week, she had gained a bit of weight. She was still skinny, but I will make sure she has a meal three times a day, even 5 or 6 just to make sure she eats.
I sat by her side for the whole week, holding her hand so that the brief bond could help her heal, I could help her further but I did not want to forcefully mark her. I was considered merciless, but not that much. Family, friends, and people I respect were forgiven. But for my mate, I will never be that kind of person. She will only see my kind and caring side that I just received when I met her.
A week turned into two, and I worried she may never wake up. But the bond was still there so I knew she was still there. All I could be wait these long hours every day.
The table near her bed was full of paperwork because had decided to work here instead of my room, I wanted to be there when she would awaken.
It was late in the night when sensed her stirring, when I look up, her eyes were open and she was starring at the ceiling in confusion. She tried to sit up and I immediately stood up to help, she flinched when she saw me. I probably went too fast and scared her.
"You're awake, how are you feeling?" I ask, she tried to speak, but her throat was probably dry before she could even say anything I had a glass of water with straw ready for her. She eagerly drank from the glass, she looks cute. "Thank you.."
When her eyes met mine, they widen suddenly. "mate." Her quiet voice filled the room once more as realized who I am to her. I gave her a small smile, a blush on her cheeks. But she turned away from me.
"How are you feeling?" I ask, my reply was a shrug so I counted that as an 'i am good, just in pain'.
"Alright, who are you?" I finally ask. She didn't reply. "I'll go first. I'm Juan Galanta, I'm the Alpha of the Shadow Pack"
Her eyes visibly widen again "You're the king!" she blurted out.
