The fiery projectiles kept raining into the house and pounded against the walls, Abby and I went downstairs trying to extinguish as many as we could.
Then it hit me, not a fireball, but realization."Get the kids out of the basement!"I told Robin as I went werewolf, "She is trying to take them down, the fire will suffocate them."
His eyes widen, "Get the witch, I'll make sure the kids get somewhere safe. "
"Take Sara and Kenneth, they'll help." I told him and Sara nodded before kissing Vincent and Kenneth kissed Abby, "Be careful." I told Robin.
He smiled encouraging, "Go get a witch for me." Then went to the basement.
"Vincent goes with Eros and tries to get as many people out of the top floor, it's burning up, fast. " I told them, "Qira, Abby and I will need you, you're the only one who can tell if she is weak or hurt. "
"Got it." She said and we began to head outside.
Tamara stood in front of us but surrounded by werewolves. When she saw us she smirked and then cast a spell that sent all of the wolf flyings. I trapped them in mid-air and set them on the floor before that got hurt. "Well, well, well, if it isn't the heretic, the mutant, and the traitor, " she said.
"We know your plan, Tamara! And you and I know the real traitor is you and your mother for killing the innocent. That's not what a real witch is, they are supposed to keep the order, but instead, you're letting the people who killed the Grand Witch's sister get away with it. " Qira spat.
"I could care less. Once Monarch Zero finishes the mutant, she'll give my mom the Grand Witch's power that within her. " she threw two more projectiles to the house and I blocked them with a water shield."Impressive, Hybrid, but I can't hurt you because of Zero's order. So I'll continue to destroy this house along with the people inside!" She threw a knife at me and it hit me in the stomach.
I yelped and gripped my side, blood staining my hand. I turned to my vampire form and healed quicker. Abby began showing defense. I got up and heard Qira, telling me there was an injury on her left leg. I smiled, using my advantage. I electrocuted her thigh which caught her by surprise. She screamed and sent us flying with a spell, but not before she electrocuted us herself. I managed to only fly three feet back, but I had lost my other witch.
"Then there were two." She said," or just one." She threw a dozen fire projectiles, one to distract me, and the rest to the house, then I lost it.
I launched at her, with my eyes shifting from brown to glow to red and snap. She was dead. Her body fell limp. I set her aflame and rushed inside of the house.
"Help!" Voices begged and I began to worry.
"Qira, Abby!" I called as I began to pick up a girl from the rubble and threw her over my shoulder then helped a man up. I took them outside and set them on the floor as they gasped for air.
"We are here," Abby said as she hopped to the ground with Qira as they carried many people over their shoulders.
"Try to get as many of them out of here. I'll go look for Robin and Kenneth. " They nodded.
As I moved deeper into the house the fewer people I saw. I extinguished the fire as I went by but I still couldn't find anyone."Robin!!" I shouted as I heard the light tapping from somewhere.
"Kenneth!!! Sara!!! Vincent!!! Can anyone hear me!!!" I found a door that seemed blocked by the rubble and heard gasps on the other side. I dug my fingers into the length of it and pulled it off its hinges. Robin immediately fell as he was hopelessly leaning on the door. I took him in my arms and took him outside, "Abigail, help him. I need to go get the others."
"Jane, the building is going to collapse, stay-"
I rushed inside anyways. The door I had opened had moved then, Sara, Kenneth, Eros, and Vincent came out with a hand full of people. We began evacuating as many as we could at a time, rushing and scared as the unstable building was on its verge. I swallowed as I went in, sliding past Kenneth and Eros when I made my way to the basement. Eros' eyes widen as we exchanged a glance and suddenly I'm arm scooped into someone's arms as a chandelier came crashing down.
Somehow I ended with his frame above me, his arms on either side of my head protectively. "Bloody hell!" He gasped, "Are you alright, Janeane?"
I stuttered, something distracting me, "I'm - I was-"
"Jesus, I thought you'd had better reflexes, hybrid!"
I frowned, feeling slightly offended, "Gee, thanks. Now can you get off, there's a building that might crush us that I would very much like to get out of."
He smirked, "Very well." He said and helped me up, then walked out of the house.
Then I heard something, a shallow breath. I went downstairs and the smell of burning flesh overwhelmed me. I moved around and my vampire sight came into effect, there was only a girl with her leg trapped under a boulder.
"N-n-no!" She said and shook in fear.
"It's okay, I'm not going to hurt you. Just come with me outside. It isn't safe here."
"I want my mommy. "She cried and the building cracked a bit.
"Okay, okay, I'll take you to her," I said as I took the boulder off her leg.
"Thank you. " She said as she wrapped her arms around me and I super speeded outside as the building collapsed.
As a smoke could fill the sky, the rumble of the fallen building filled the air. The clearing was rubble. I saw many people on the ground. Some treating the injured others holding loved once close. Robin sat next to a body and as I walked over to him, I saw it was who it was.
Sakota.
I set the little girl down and sank to my knees, sitting next to him. He leaned on me and said, "She was the closest thing the pack and the orphans had to a mother. Even if she wasn't a Luna, she was like a mom."
"I'm so sorry," I said.
"Is not y-"
"It is! Everything is. If I had done something differently in 1890, or here and now maybe-"
"No, this is not your fault. It is no one's but that she-devil." He told me.
"It can't find my mommy." The little girl who had gone to look for her told me.
My heart broke, and I looked at her, "She'll show up, okay dear." I got up and undid my cardigan leaving me in my red shirt. I draped it over the girl and with my water shield, I removed the ash from her face."Come on, let's get you're leg cleaned up."
Out of the thirty people that were in the house, only twenty-two survived. Three of them were in the house when it collapsed, four of them were killed by the witch, one of them suffocated and died outside.
The paramedics took the severely injured to the hospital and we took the rest to our house. Since Vincent, Sara and I were medically trained, we were able to deal with the bloody, but small injuries. Trying our best to help those who never asked for this. They were involved in a conflict so deep that it made no sense.
The effect of the blood bag had worn-out during the rescue, but Abby was beaten, her gold eyes were dull and she didn't have the energy to go hunting. I didn't approve but who was I to judge. Many of the wolves lost something dear to them. From personal and valued belongings to irreplaceable people, friends, and family. I knew they all lost Sakota, and as for the little girl, Rebbecca, her parents died in the fire.
Let's just say it was a long day and night.
