"What's going on?" Sara asked as she and Vincent got out of the car.
"Zero is attacking earlier than we expected. " I said as we walked into the Red Crescent pack house clearing.
"What? Who's Zero?" Sakota asked. As she leads us inside. The house was filled, the children were being fed while the older werewolf began talking tactics.
"Zero is their sinister sister that wants to annihilate my mate," Robin said and pointed to Qira and Eros, but they all focused on something else he said.
Sakota raised an eyebrow, "Mate?"
"God, why is it a surprise to everyone?" He grumbled.
"Who is she? Is she a werewolf? What rank is she? " Sakota asked.
"Well I wouldn't say werewolf, but she's close," Robin said and the entire pack began to listen.
"Well?"Sakota prompted.
"May I present to you, Janeane Dale."He announced and everyone gasped but awed and asked the obvious.
"But isn't she a vampire? " a woman asked.
"Let's say she's living proof of impossible. Her father was the son of King Alpha Blackwood. Her mother was the sister of the Grand Witch. And when Jane almost died, vampirism saved her as her wolf side was weak and only half of her. "He explained
"So why would they want to kill her, wouldn't that start a war?" Someone asked.
"It already has, Zetrova, or Zero, wants power, so when she saw her parents as a threat, she kills them to avoid the offspring. Obviously, she failed." Eros said, "We came to warn her that night the treaty was set."
"So what is it that we were all dragged out of class for? " Another voice asked.
"My sister sent a witch to the school for some reason. We wanted to keep you all safe, so we brought you here."
"So what's the plan?" Linsey asked.
That's when I spoke, "We need to find out what that witch wants and when is the entire army of Zero will come to Woodson."
"The witch is coming here thats for sure, she saw the wolves and she saw us, odd are she will go for the most casualties will be at. We will need to secure the children and those who might be vulnerable in the attack." Eros said.
"Then the Alpha, Beta, Delta and the rest of us should come up with a way to take the witch down while keeping the rest of us safe." Someone said.
"How do you expect us to find out their plan? " Luke asked.
"They have two witches, but we do too. I doubt they will stop Jane and Abigail." Qira said.
"But how do we kill the other witch?" Someone asked.
"You won't, she could most likely kill you first. Jane or I cast a spell to kill her." Abby said.
"Well, what are we waiting for fire 'em up." Quill said.
"Cassidy, take the children to the basement, Mark and Victor, take the humans also. Quill set up a perimeter around the house, no one gets in or out without my consent. Go!" Robin ordered and everyone began to move, "Luke, Linsey, you're with me. "
"Jane, why are your suddenly eyes brown?" Luke asked.
My eye widened, "What?"
"Because she's in her witch form, witches are humans with magic-"
"So, for the time being, I could kill her? "Linsey asked cutting Abby off.
I went to my vampire form and hissed, "Wanna to try?"
"Nevermind. "She said as she cowered.
I blinked a few times before I was sure I was brown eyed. Then Robin said, "Where to do what to do your magic?"
"Anywhere is fine,"Abby said.
"The dining room, then." Robin nodded to Luke and he began to lead us more inside.
"So was that why your eyes turn green to yellow when you're doing a big spell? " I asked Abby as we walked into a large room with a wooden table in the center.
"Big spell for me, but I doubt for you Grand Witch."
"Talk me through, would ya,"I said for everyone's convenience.
"I'll try first, but I doubt I'll get through the witch. Even Qira couldn't see the bond between Tamara and Erie, their old coven's witch. " Abby said and she took something from her backpack. A small red leather-bound book, she flipped it open, setting it on the table and looked for something.
"What did you mean by ' get through the witch '? " I asked Abby as I looked over her shoulder.
"Aren't you a mind reader?" Linsey muttered.
"Right, like I want to hear every thought that crosses your mind. I block that gift of mine to avoid getting headaches." I told her, though for some reason we couldn't read werewolves.
"Qira told me about the Moroi coven having a barrier spell." She said, but was too busy with her spell book to elaborate.
"The coven's witch casted a spell that stops outsiders from looking in, that includes other witches and us mind readers." Eros said. "But since Tamara is here, that gives us a local access point to the spell. If one of you guys gets through, you can see what is going on inside. If Jane gets in-"
"I'll see everyone's thoughts."
"Here you are," Abby said talking to the book, "The Fortuna spell." She read it and then took a wood box from her backpack.
"You take this to school every day? " I asked her.
"Well, I leave it in my locker, just in case, you know." She shrugged.
"You're a witch?" Linsey asked.
"Born witch but changed into a vampire. We think it's like Jane, Grand Witch related, but less complicated."
"You're green eyed-ish," I told her as her eyes turned lime.
"Yeah, I'm not powerful enough to go back to my human witch form," Abby said as she read the instructions. "I need a bowl and a match and sissors." Sakota, who had been standing near the doorway went to get the items.
"Thanks," Abby said and began throwing portions of herbs into the ceramic bowl. When she finished she set it aflame, "Inieto Futura Obrseva Poss Sepetro Aulem !" she chanted and for a second, nothing happened.
Then her head hung from her shoulders as she went limp."Abby?" Kenneth said anxious, he super speeded to her side and creased her cheek, "Abby!?"
"Kenneth, she is in the spell. She is trying to get through the witches barrier spell." I said as I looked in her mind.
"Jane, no- "Eros warned but I was sucked into her spell and lost my balance but Robin held on to me.
"She is pulling me in, she can hold herself, I have to take her place or she'll drain all of her energy and...she could. . . die." I choked.
Abby's nose began to bleed, "How is-?" Kenneth said as he remembered that for the time being, his mate could bleed.
"Jane, . . Just come back okay." Robin said .
"I will." I said, entering the spell as Abby went back.
There was a giant sphere float around a dark space, the murky spherical barrier was surrounding a core of light. It's dark gray and red shield started to expand then, boom, a shock wave of lightning hit me, but I stayed strong. I moved closer to it as it continued to shoot me. Ten yards, five, four three, two, one and touch, an explosion sent me flying into oblivion. But I managed to go forward to the light core as the suction of the explosion pulled me back. I took the light in my arms and the space around me changed into a large room.
The velvet red carpet under me made a path to two chairs, throne chairs and two vampires sat on them.
Velaro.
Zero.
And my worst nightmares came true when I saw who was behind me.
