Chapter 2: discussion and fights

“Snap out of your thoughts, Selene! We need to catch this stag, so we can eat.” Raya Snarled

“Okay.” I snarled back.

Still running after the stag, we are so close to catching it, yet all I can think of is when we first met. How when I ran away from New York, because I didn’t want to take over my father’s pack, yet here I am 5 years later connected to this small pack.

“GRAB ITS LEG!” shouted Chase.

I opened my snout, hooked my canines on its hind leg. Raya took the other leg, Jacob jumped and reached its neck. The next thing we knew was the stag was now down ready to be eaten. I shifted back to my human form, took out some clothes and got dressed. The pack looked at me surprised.

“Why did you shift to your human form?” Jacob mind linked me growling.

“Because even if we are beasts we can still eat like civilized people.” I responded with a growl, “Plus we haven’t been chased, we have crossed two town lines, and I saw a cave over there, let’s set up camp there.” I spoke.

“Fine.” Growled Raya.

Raya went up to Jacob and she whispered something. Jacob responded with a growl.

“If you got something to say, just say it, I don’t like this whole situation about you talking behind my back.”

“Fine, why should we listen to you? You are the reason we were chased out of our hometown.” Raya said, snarling.

“Does everyone feel this way? Jacob? Chase? I asked them.

They both looked at each other and frowned and shook their heads; I didn’t need to read their minds to know why they frowned at each other, but I think that we can discuss this later.

“Fine, I’ll leave you all alone, you know Jacob that I didn’t even want to be part of a pack, not even its Alpha I stayed for you.” I said with hurt on my voice “I’ll take my share of the hunt and leave the pack. I am no longer alpha of this pack.”

Our connection instantly broke, but I can still hear their thoughts. I will leave first thing in the morning. I don’t stay where I’m not wanted. I looked at Jacob still standing next to Raya. He looked stunned and good. Raya looked happy. A better word for it satisfied, I walked towards the cave. Everyone started to follow behind. I started to look for wood for the fire. I set up my own bonfire. Raya and Chase went together to build a bonfire and Jacob went to the one I built; we were sitting but I couldn’t help but hear their thoughts. Raya was content with getting rid of me. Chase was worried about Raya and Jacob, because if I leave maybe Jacob will leave with me, but since we are true mates, our bonds can be the reason we stay together but I don’t want him to stay with me because of the bond, I want him to stay with me because he wants too. Chase also felt sad, he doesn’t want me to leave- we have gotten close over the years. Jacob well, he is furious about Raya’s side comment and as for my reaction didn’t set with him as well, but he wasn’t surprised. He turned to look at me and I saw sadness in his eyes.

“Do we leave after they fall asleep, or will we get some rest and leave before they wake up?” he asked me through our mind-link.

“Jacob? Do you really want to go with me or is it because we are mates that you are going?” I asked scared for the answer, but still needed to know.

“I’m going because I’m bounded to you, our hearts are bounded together and there’s no place Id rather be than with you. Ill follow you anywhere, my love.” replied Jacob

“I love you.” With tears rolling down my cheeks.

“I love you too my love.” Responded Jacob

I seemed to have zoned out when we were having this moving conversation, I knew it was one of my many gifts, my gift of foresight. This vision was weird because I was back in New York with Jacob but not with the rest of the pack and we were safe.

“What was that?” asked Jacob.

*Right! He doesn’t know who and what I really am.*

“Um it’s nothing don’t worry about it.” I spoke.

Jacob looked at me with confusion. I didn’t want him to find out what I am or who I am what if he changes his mind about being with me and doesn’t want to have nothing to do me and my bloodline.

“Hey here’s a penny for a thought, how about we go to New York. We can be safe there no more hiding who we are?” I asked Jacob hoping to get a yes.

Jacob looked at me with surprise and with hint of fear in his eyes. “I don’t know Sels, you know we have never been anywhere but home and this is the farthest we’ve been from home”

“What do you mean we? honey this suggestion wasn’t included with your friends. I mean if they want to come along its up to them but honey, we can have a more comfortable and safer home.” I spoke

“Oh, is this still happening? Are you still upset with Raya? And what if we phase in front of a human wont, we be chased out the city because we are different? I don’t want to go through that again…”

“Honey, people in New York are mostly creatures and if there is one, they aren’t going to freak out or anything, trust me. we will be safe there. Humans know of mythical creatures know of us, and they are comfortable with us there. We aren’t anything new to them.” I said with reassurance.

“That seems nice and free, is it okay if I suggest them to head that way as well? Just so I know they are safe.” He asked.

I didn’t want him to tell them, but I also didn’t want him to be worried about them after all they are like his family, mainly because he didn’t have any blood family that he knew of. “I guess it’s okay if they decide to go.” I spoke.

Jacob smiled at me, He got up and walked towards Chase and Raya. He sat down next to them and I could hear their thoughts specially Raya, she didn’t want to come because of me and Chase did want to but couldn’t leave Raya. She is his sister after all and didn’t want her to be alone in the world until she found her true mate, I chuckled to myself thinking of her true mate, the moon goddess must have pair her with someone very submissive and not temperamental at all and he or she must a virgin because she is extremely territorial. I re-centered my attention to their thoughts when I heard growls and Jacob shifted to his beautiful black wolf Hunter, and started to attack Raya’s brown wolf sky, I was both startled and confused when I rushed to chase to get him out the way. Chased looked at me with sadness in his eyes and growled at them both. They both stopped in their tracks turned to me, Jacob shifted back, but Sky(Raya) attacked me, I stopped her with my hands and both and Chase and Jacob were surprised at my sudden strength and speed *Crap I completely forgot that they don’t know about that* they all had this look on their face that they wanted to ask me about this but then they noticed that sky (Raya) was struggling to get free, so I pushed her to the floor, and she shifted back, She was struggling to breathe, then she looked at me with anger. She started yelling at me about nonsense.

“We shouldn’t have let you stay here when you came, you only ruined our home and we can't go back because the people of our town knows what we are now, we wouldn’t have never been in this much trouble if you haven’t showed up.” Raya started yelling.

“What do you mean my fault, what the hell are you talking they- you know what never mind I’m done with you and your shit.”

“Well, I’m not done, I don’t want you to ever come near me- “she was saying until Jacob interrupted her.

“Stop it now, its wasn’t her fault Raya, it’s yours. You’re the one who got us caught we wouldn’t be here in the first place. If it wasn’t for your short temper and outburst nobody would have found out about us.”

“What on earth are you blabbering on about? I didn’t do anything.” Raya said.

“You were the one shifting first and caught the attention of a lot of people but Selene shifted first so they wouldn’t only attack you and we went to protect her and saw you were half shifted. Selene was distracting them so we can run away she told us that she will be right behind us.” Chase answered.

“You mean I’m the reason we are going through this?”

I see Jacob walking towards Raya crossing his arms across his chest annoyed by her attitude. When he turned around to walk towards me, I saw tears in his eyes. I couldn’t help but feel sadness for him, he loved his friends so much that seeing them like this or fighting with like this is hard for him not to feel any remorse or hurt. Which hurts me because I love him, and I can feel it through our mate bond.

“Raya, I know that from the beginning you didn’t like me but the least you could have done is try not to blame me for all your wrongdoing all I ever tried to do is make sure you and your friend and brother were good and safe.” I spoke.

Raya looked at me confused and honestly, I wasn’t surprised she never knew or caught herself messing up. Before I came along, they were about to get caught but I got involved and told the people in the town that it was play we were practicing. Jacob realized this so he just helped me make it more believable. I loved him even more for that, but Raya noticed that he was always planning something with me. When Chase caught on, so he started to “plan” with us, backstories or plans. Which made her more reckless.

“Raya look it’s not my fault this whole thing led to us here, if you would have been honest about your feeling from the beginning maybe I wouldn’t have stayed.” I stated to her.

“What are you talking about? My feelings? What feelings?” Raya questioned me.

“Yes, your secret love for Jacob. And don’t deny that I’ve seen the way you look at him and the hint of envy in your eyes. If you would have told him, you had feelings for him maybe he would have been with you because you are from the same species. I didn’t say anything to you because I know you don’t have courage. So, I let it slide and I kept this secret of yours until now. But it seems it’s the right time to say something. Maybe you need to grow up stop acting like a teenager and start acting like the adult you are. I for once am tired of your childish outburst because you can’t handle situations, I suggest you have a goodnight rest and reflect on yourself and the things you have put us through because you can’t have that one person you always wanted. And about New York you decide what is best for you and your brother since he is your responsibility as you are his. Discuss between each other. we are going to sleep goodnight. Tell me in the morning what you both have decided.” I said irritated.

I went back my bonfire and shifted to my white wolf (Kailee) *inner monologue with Kailee* “it’s about damn time you say something to that child about her feelings towards our mate.” You’re funny Kailee, don’t be mean she’s just struggling Hun nothing to worry about, plus if she tries something we can just kill her, you know the laws.” “Haha true”. *End of monologue* I can hear Raya and Chase argue about what was discussed and Jacob came to lay next to me, making me snuggle closer to him for warmth.

“How did you really know about her feeling, and don’t lie to me, I also know you’ve been hiding secrets from me, so don’t lie to me babe.” Jacob asked.

*SIGH* “Honey, there’s something I haven’t told you, I’m not just an Alpha, I’m one of the purest of bloodlines, some say a Royal. Meaning, I come with a lot of gifts passed down from generation to generation. I ran away from my home to get out of being betrothed to someone I didn’t want to be betrothed to. I ended up in your hometown by complete accident I was never meant to end up there. But when I got a hint of your scent, I couldn’t help myself and followed it. Until I came to your music store and well the whole needing a CD was true but not the entire truth. I knew you were interested in me, so I wanted you to ask me out so hint the very straight forwardness. I’m sorry, I never meant to hide this, it’s just that I don’t like talking about this. It is very uncomfortable.” I confessed.

“So, you’re like a princess? The princess. So, I married the princess??? So, what makes me a prince? Wait, wait, wait. Why didn’t you say anything before, other than the fact that makes you uncomfortable…?” Jacob asked confused and surprised.

“because of this reaction, I don’t like it, it makes it so much more annoying, and it attracts so much unnecessary attention. Honey I might be a princess, but I am still a normal wolf.” I said determined.

“Yeah, a normal wolf that is very powerful who comes with so many gifts, wait? have you used your gifts on us?” Jacob asked

“Of course not, well maybe when we first met. I wasn’t sure if your friend Raya wasn’t going to do me any harm. So, I had to use one of my powers. Other than that, I haven’t used my powers.”

“What do you mean you used one of your powers on Raya?” Jacob asked.

“W…well you see I had to make sure I was safe especially on unmarked territory and well she came blazing to my motel room and well I had to read her mind and use my Pure Blood Alpha Voice so she can calm down, and during our date she kept following us and well I kept reading her mind like I said to make sure I was safe. I may have run away from my family and that life, but I wasn’t about to get my life murdered either. Until I well exposed her, I knew her feeling for you, but she never tried to pursue you so that’s when I made my move on you. Plus, you are my mate I didn’t want to lose you but if she wanted to be with you, I would have let that happen I would have left I would have regretted it but there’s something else that I haven’t mentioned. We are going to go through hell when we get back.” I confessed.

“What do you mean? Is there something wrong?” Jacob asked concerned.

“Well, you see I’m not supposed to mate or get married to someone who isn’t pureblood.” I said truthfully.

“And who are you suppose be mate with?” Jacob asked me worried.

“Well, I have a cousin who is pureblood who technically he was supposed to be my true mate but he wasn’t which is weird because it’s been happening for generations.” I said calmly.

“So, what does this mean for us?” Jacob asked

“It means that if we cross my uncle’s territory you might want to keep crossing and don’t stop. Cause I rather be the one dead than you be dead, and I mean if I mean we will pass through, and you will keep running and do not look back. Not even to make sure I’m okay... Make sure to get out of the territory.” I said.

“What? Why will we pass through his territory? Why would I keep running leave you behind? Why would we get killed?” Jacob asked desperately.

“Because it’s the only way through and because I can handle the situation, and because he won’t kill a familiar scent.” I spoke.

“And how will I know that you my wife my soul my everything is okay? Jacob asked.

“I will call you okay, but don’t stop running until you pass the territory. Promise me you won’t stop until you have passed the territory.” I spoke.

“Honey, I don’t think I can promise that. I don’t think I can run away like a coward while you stay behind goddess knows what could happen to you staying behind.” Jacob said.

“I won’t stay behind I’ll be behind you overpowering your scent to cover you, plus if they smell my scent they might just leave us alone but if its two scents then they’ll think you are a rogue and will attack you to defend me.” I spoke.

“So, you’ll be a diversion and while I basically risk both your death and my own???” Jacob said in an annoyed tone.

“Kind of. Look I know as a male wolf you are against this and trust me any other day id find that very attractive but today is not one of the days if it was any other territory id say okay but is not just any territory it’s my uncle’s territory and I know that my cousin will be patrolling, he will be able to recognize my scent and leave us alone.” I said with a pleading voice hoping he would understand.

As Jacob and I were talking and planning this whole situation. Raya and Chase were done discussing their options for how to proceed next. Chase walked over to let me know that he wants to go with us, but that Raya is still hesitant to follow me after our little dispute. Raya then walked over she bowed her head in sign of surrender, so I knew we were on the same page.

“Selene I’m sorry for my behavior and as Chase mention he wants to go with you guys, and I don’t want him to go alone so ill be tagging along if that is okay with you?” Raya asked.

“Alright then let’s get some sleep I believe with the commotion today we all need some rest especially myself, goodnight, everyone. Um there’s a village close by that we can go have dinner and it’s good.” I spoke.

“Thank you, we will be ready early. Goodnight.” Raya and Chase said unison.
