CHAPTER 1
Emily's POV I sighed heavily as the black SUV car pulled into a stop in front of our mansion. My bodyguard and personal butler, Mr Fernando hurried from the car just to open the door for me to step out. I flashed him a grateful smile as I slowly made my way into the large compound, my Louis Vuitton bag clutched tight my hands. I paused to halt in my steps, y eyes scanned the environment and I noticed something different, there was a red convertible parked amongst our other luxurious cars. This red convertible did not belong to us and I knew father's taste in cars, it was nothing close to this. I pointed at the car and questioned Fernando. "Did father get a new car?" I paused to suck in my teeth. "I know dad does not like cars like this." Fernando smiled and shook his head in disagreement. "The car belongs to a visitor of your father." He said. Visitor? That was another strange thing that made me feel suspicious, Dad never brought visitors home. He always treated them somewhere about because Dad was always so conscious about whoever he brought into the house. Maybe it was the nature of his business that always scared him. My father was a mafia boss, a famous one at that. He dealt with the most dangerous people in the country and even outside of the country. He often played with illegal things. That was why safety was his most important policy. "Better safe than sorry," he always said that. There was once upon a time where Dad wanted to stop me from going to college because he was afraid that his enemies would come after but I stood my ground and I was able to reason with him, although in exchange for that, I got bodyguards to follow me everywhere. "You may still go in Emily, his visitors have no problem with your presence." Fernando's voice jolted me out of my thoughts and back to reality. I nodded my head at him and slowly stepped into the mansion. The living room was surprisingly quiet and empty. I shrugged off the feeling and just as I was about to take the stairs up to my room. Maria, my personal maid scurried toward my direction and bowed her head at me. "What is Maria?" I asked with a raised brow. She cleared her throat and responded in a low yone. "Your father wants to see you in the office." She replied. Me? I wondered why he wanted to see me, especially if he had guests. I nodded my head at her and dismissed her immediately. Without wasting anymore time, I headed to my father's office. I delivered a small knock on the door. "Emily, come in." My Father instructed. I pushed the door open, I halted in my steps and turned to gaze at him with a raised brow. At that moment, I knew something was up. I met dad sitting on a spinning chair with his legs crossed and in the opposite direction are his guests. Their backs are turned against me so I can not recognize them. Although, judging by the grey hair of the one on the right, I can tell that he is an old man, the one on the left has short dark hair, something about him seems familiar. I furrowed my brows in confusion as I slowly approached him. My jaw dropped and my eyes widened in shock as I gazed at Father's guests. Now I understood why the one on the left looked so familiar, his piercing blue eyes bored into my soul, I gulped a lump down my throat and my heart began to race as I came to a realization that it was Dante. Dante De Luca was a famous, ruthless and merciless mafia boss. I had heard of a him a few times but I had never actually seen him before. The De Luca family were a famous wealthy family known for their resilience and hardwork in the business world. They also happened to be rivals to my family when it came to business. I wondered what they were doing here and why I was suddenly involved in their conversation. I bowed my head at Dante, and his father I assumed. I felt Dante's eyes settle on me, as if he was searching for something. "Emily." My father stared at me. "I want to be very sure that you know the two men sitting in front of you?" He said in a questioning tone. I nodded my head in agreement, who would not? They were extremely famous inside and outside of the country, more famous than my family was. "Dante will become your husband by next week." Dad blurted out. I staggered backward in shock at the news. Husband? Where was all of this coming from? Dad and I had already that I would finish college before anything concerning marriage would be discussed. Why then was he taking back his words? I sneaked a glance at Dante, he had not moved an inch which only meant one thing, he was in support of the supposed marriage that would happen between us. I wanted to protest, I wanted to argue but I knew better than that. Rather I would keep quiet and wait until the guests left, then I would pour out my mind. "Yes Emily, your father and I have discussed things and we believe that you and Dante would make a perfect couple." Dante's father was speaking this time. I wanted to scoff out loudly or laugh out but I clenched my fist tight and held back my emotions. "The powerful couple of the century. Just imagine it. People will never stop talking about this. It is indeed a great landmark for both families." My father agreed. He turned to me and our eyes met. I tried to signal him that I was not interested in the whole marriage bullshit with Dante but my dad seemed to intentionally ignore my signals. "Pack your bags, you are moving into his house tonight."
