Chapter 9

{Kanes POV}

~4 months later~

the last 4 months at campus had been great. My relationship with Adrianna only got stronger and we didn't have any more situations with Martin or Margaret. Martin still followed Adrianna around but as of now, we couldn't do much about it without any evidence. Margaret backed off when my father reminded her of what would happen should she try and come in between mates, especially a future luna. Every other weekend Adrianna and I would go to her familes cabin so we could have time to ourselves. She still hasn't told her parents about us but I understood where she was coming from. My parents on the other hand keep nagging me to bring her home so they could meet her in person, they adored her. Once I told my mom about her, she made sure to call Adrianna and welcome her to the family, and since then I'm not sure if she speaks to my mom more than her own. My parents don't know her true nature just yet, she thought it'd be safer to tell them in person after she told her parents about me.

It was 2 days before Adrianna planned to go back home and visit her family for her sisters 3rd birthday and according to everyone around I've been sulking ever since the week began. I never spent more than 2 nights without Adrianna in my bed and I don't know what I would do, it only makes me more annoyed when I think of her telling her parents without me there. She refuses to take me along so I decided to head back to New York and catch up on pack politics, hoping it would help distract me from the fact that my mate was so far away for 4 whole days. She would be taking Ella with her so atleast she'd have moral support.

"Babe stop that tickles" Adrianna whispered as I kept brushing my fingers on her inner thighs while we ate.

"No, you're leaving me so I get to do what I want" I said as I continued while stabbing my pasta and shoving it into my mouth.

"You're impossible! Must I remind you that you're also going home?"

"Only because you're leaving without me." I said not looking at her because I knew she was staring daggers at me, she was officially annoyed at my behavior but I didn't care.

"Leave him alone dimples, he's just a man in love" Wyatt teased.

"Exactly" I muttered under my breath, but I knew she heard me. Just as she was about to argue, I grabbed her and placed her on my lap and whispered "Mine" in her ears, but thank the goddess for wolf hearing because everybody at the table screamed "We know!" which caused an eruption of laughter from the table and everyone calling me a love sick pup.

"You're behaving like a baby you know" Adrianna giggled while turning her head to kiss me.

"You did this to me, its all your fault" I accused her.

"Well you could of said no thank you, I'm not interested" she mocked

"I could of, but look at you! Can anyone say no?" I said proudly

"I know some people who know the meaning of no" ah f*ck, the thorn in my hip, Martin commented as he joined the table. Everyone's laughter died out and they began having their own conversations, not interested in entertaining Martin.

"Hey Martin!" Adrianna said as she continued eating while still on my lap. "How was your day?" she asked, I wonder whats she playing at

"Fine thanks. Hope you also haven't been sulking around like Mr Alpha here" he said winking at her. What the f*ck? I let out a low growl, warning him to watch it.

"Chill, it was a joke Kane" he said rolling his eyes. Adrianna left her food and turned to me, she placed a kiss on my cheek and whispered so only I could hear "Calm down babe" and she stayed like that until her scent completely consumed me and calmed me down.

"Well I'm off for the night" Adrianna said as she wiggles her way out of my hands, leaving me a bit taken back.

"I thought you'd be spending the night with me?" I asked, a bit confused

"I am, but I just got to do something first, it won't take long and I'll come to your room soon" she said, she turned around, winked at Ella and then faced me to give me a kiss.

"How about I come with you? I'm done here anyway" I said

"No no no mister, eat all your veggies. You'll need your strength tonight" and winked at me then bent down again and whispered "I have a surprise for you, so be ready for me" with a nibble on my ear, she turned around walked towards the exit. That got me so excited I basically gobbled up my food and went to my room to wait for her.

~2 hours later~

Adrianna hasn't showed up yet and I was growing extremely impatient and decided to call her but it went straight to voice-mail. I decided to call Ella to see if she knew what was up.

"Kane? What's up?" she answered sounding confused

"Do you know where Adrianna is? I've been waiting for the last 2 hours now" I said impatiently

"What? 2 hours? That doesn't make sense" she said

"What do you mean? What surprise was she planning?" I asked, and began to feel a sharp pain on my shoulder "Ah f*ck" I groaned

"What happened?" she asked sounding worried

"Nothing, just a sudden pain in my shoulder. Must be a tensed muscle or something. Now tell me what was the surprise?" I asked, extremely annoyed

"Well, it was basically something that would take all but 5 minutes to do. She bought some pretty spicy lingerie for you and another gift. Although she wouldn't tell me what." she said. No wonder she was confused when I called.

"Where are you right now? Can you check if she left the room with any of those things?"

as I said that I heard a knock on the door, and before I could say anything else, Ella walks in with Jace in tow.

"I'm right here" she says dropping the call "I'll go check our room, wanted to see if you wanted to come with?" she asked

"Lets go" I said, and we headed towards their dorm.

It was strange, I couldn't pick up a strong scent from Adrianna, so something made me think she wouldn't be in her room. We got inside and Ella walked to Adriannas cupboard, pulling out 2 Victoria secret bags, only to find that all the stuff she bought was still there, double checking the bathroom only confirmed she hadn't been here for a while, her scent wasn't fresh enough.

I kept feeling my shoulder pain get worse as if someone were putting pressure on it making it worse and immediately it hit me. Adrianna was in pain, that's why my shoulder was stiff and painful.

"I know she's in trouble. Someone's hurting her, and badly, I can feel it." I said as panic started taking over and Samson began getting angrier by the minute, fighting to come out and find our mate.

"Lets go to the Cafeteria, I'll have Wyatt meet us there, maybe we can track her scent?" Jace said and I nodded and basically started running towards the cafeteria.

I tracked her scent to the dorms staircase and from there it just went dead. That didn't make any sense to me. I picked up my phone to try and track hers but no luck. "Ah f*ck!!!" I screamed as a sharp pain ripped through my stomach

"Oh God shes being tortured isn't she?" Ella started to cry as Jace held her.

"We can't break down now, we need to find her." I said, I couldn't give into any emotions right now, I only knew she was in danger and I'd do anything to find her. I promised to chase her to the ends of the world, and I wasn't going to break it for anything.

"Sorry Kane, the scent dies out here, whoever did this must have masked it" Wyatt said as he walked down of the dorms, trying to pick up the slightest trace of her.

"Get Martin to my room, now!" I ordered and Wyatt left with Damian as Jace, Ella and I made our way to my room. I kept trying to keep the pain at bay, but it kept getting worse and it only added fuel to the rage burning inside of me.

Pacing up and down in the room waiting for Martin, I kept running different situations in my head trying to figure how out how she could of been taken and where.

"Kane what the f*ck do you think you think you're doing having these two drag me here?" Martin yelled defiantly as Damian pushed him into the room.

"Where is she?" I asked with a low menacing growl as I used my wolf speed and clenched his neck

"don't......know.....who.." he squeezed out trying to push my hands off him, I threw him against my study table which broke at the impact. He started rubbing his neck and got up, "Where is she?" I asked again walking towards him

"I don't know who you're talking about! What the hell is going on?" he screamed again

"Look around a**hole, who do you think?" asked Damian angrily

"How would I know where your mate is?" he asked in a mocking tone. I let my claws out and took slow steps so he could figure out what would happen next. His eyes widen and I just smirked, I've been waiting for this.

The closer I got, the more his attitude dropped and he began pleading his innocence.

"Kane man, I swear why would I know where she is? You sure she didn't run off again?" the nerve of this son of a b*tch, I got closer

"Please I swear I don't know anything! I swear! You're my alpha I'd never take your mate away! Please you have to believe me!"

He didn't have a clue I knew exactly what he would do to his Alpha so that bullshit wouldn't work on me. My smirk became full blown menacing laughter listening to this pr*ck speak, I could see it was only making him more scared, and I enjoyed seeing him this way.

"One last time, Where is Adrianna?" I asked

as I closed up on him, looking him in the eye. "I don't.. I dont kn.. know" he said cowering down as I towered over him.

I picked him up, and my claws started piercing his flesh, but not too deep.

"Wrong f*cking answer" and I punched him dropping him to the floor. I kneeled down and kept beating him up, it felt so good and I couldn't stop. It took Jace, Wyatt and Damian to get me off him. Once I was off, Damian cuffed his hands with silver and placed him on the chair and his head hanged how and I could see the blood dripping from his face.

"Looks like possible fractured ribs, and definitely a broken face. I doubt he'd be able to talk for the next few hours" said Wyatt as he took a look at Martin "Impressed you held back so much alpha, he deserves to die" he added, sounding disappointed that he was alive.

"Look, I'm not defending him, but considering we don't have anything concrete on him at the moment, he's better of alive, we don't know his involvement in anything as yet, so everyone needs to calm down before any more damage is done." Jace said. I was lucky he's my beta. As pissed off as I was, we couldn't prove s**t and that could get us into a ton of trouble.

"Jace call the Alpha, let him know the situation. Seek his advice, and tell him every detail. Guys keep an eye out on him and don't let any other student see him. Check his phone and try and see if there's anything we can use. Ella, come with me. Theres one other person we need to see" everyone nodded and Ella and I walked to the administration building.

"What if-" Ella began but I cut her off immediately

"Please don't. Just don't." was all I said and the rest of the walk was in silence.

We got to the private rooms and looked for one name. "Room number 363, level 3" Ella said, and we hurried along. When we got there however, there was no answer and the door was locked. I was about to kick it down when Ellla stopped me. "I know a more quieter way" and she stepped forward and began picking the lock. Finally she succeeded was shocked to see an empty room. Margaret left a few clothes in her cupboard, but her suitcase was gone, and so were most of her toiletries. I mind linked Wyatt to get here and try and trace her scent, maybe we'd get lucky enough with her. Margarets scent ended at the same place Adriannas did, at least we knew who had her now.

"bro you should see what I found on his phone" Damian said via mindlink

I rushed to my room, and found Damian holding up the phone to me. Jace had still been on the phone with my father. What I read made my blood boil

Martin: can't mindlink, at the table with the mutts. the b*tch left alone. nows your chance. don't forget the plan.

Marge: will text when I'm done.

Marge: need more Wolfsbane by tomorrow. she recovers way to fast. subduing her by sliver but she's still strong

Martin: extra wolfsbane in the bathroom cupboard. will be in tomorrow afternoon. I'm sure the mutts have realized shes missing by now. need to lay low and out of site

Marge: right.. get more silver bullets. im having way too much fun

Martin: she needs to be alive for this to work Marge.

Marge: yeah yeah. *rolls eyes* see you tomorrow

"Jace!" I roared " have you told my father about this?" I asked holding up the phone.

"I did, he'll be here in a few hours. He said you should call her parents and tell them everything. Keep Martin in a holding cell as there's enough proof with those messages, but you have to wait for word from the council before proceeding any further with him. He also thinks that keeping Margarets family in the dark might be best as they might help her, knowing that if she's caught, she'll be sentenced to death on a number of crimes against her pack." he finished "I will speak to Ms Clark at reception about the holding cell." he was about to take off when I stopped him.

"Dont do that just yet. We don't know who else is in on this and moving him now may alert Margaret and right now we can't afford to lose the one thing we going for us" I said holding up Martins phone. "Lets try tracking her phone, if that doesn't work then we need to trick her into giving us her location. On the low, begin the search for Adrianna in the castles and administration building. Jace get Brian, Noel and Chris to help you with the East. Wyatt get Lance, Ryan and Maddox help you with the West. Tell them keep it on the down low and do not engage should they find anything. Mindlink me immediately and follow them should the need arise. You both have 2 hours. Damian call my dad, tell him the plan to lay low and have him find out if the De LaRosa family have any cabins up here without raising suspicion, and they should not tell the De LaRosa family he's coming to campus. I will go with a few guys to the admin building. We need to start the forest search as soon as possible." I said and headed for the door.

Every f*cking thing we did so far was a dead end and I couldn't help but feel hopless. I was holding off calling Adriannas parents because I wanted to get her back before they even noticed she was gone.

Searching the buildings got us no where. Jace and Wyatt took their teams to the forest while I stayed back in my room waiting for the pr*ck to wake up.

{Adriannas POV}

I was so excited for Kanes surprise. I bought a few lingerie outfits I planned on modeling for him, hoping each one would lead to a round of hot, steamy, sensual love making, but I was even more excited about the rings I got for him and I. It was 2 black promise rings, with gold inscribed on the inside -a promise to never run. KX ♡ ABP -. It was something small, but I fell in love with the idea of having a constant physical reminder of him, especially since we've held off on marking each other. I wanted to wait until my parents knew. Only 2 days left until I left for home and as much as I hated going away without Kane, I knew my dad enough to let him have some space after I tell him about Kane. The closer we got to Friday, the more Kane sulked and the more I wanted to cancel my trip and just stay with him. It made it a bit easier knowing he was also leaving and we'd probably be videocalling the whole time. As I walked out of the Cafeteria, I felt a bit strange, as if I was being watched but my stalker was safe and sound in the cafeteria so why was I feeling this way? I shrugged it off and started power walking towards my dorm. As I rounded the corner and was about to walk up the stairs to my room, I felt a stab into my neck and a groggy feeling took over, I tried to keep my balance but I ended up seeing black spots everywhere before my site was completely consumed by darkness.

Agh! Why is my neck so sore and my head is feels like its about to explored, I tried to lift my hard to rub my head but I couldn't, I was tied up. I tried to focus my vision and look around, only to find my feet were tied up and a women was walking towards me. "Agh where am I" I groaned, trying to get a good look at the women. Blonde hair, blue eyes.

Margaret?

"Mar.. Ma.. Margaret? What are you doing? Untie me please" I said, I couldn't think straight or focus enough.

"Oh how lovely, shes awake and already begging" she said, is someone else here?

"Whhat did you do to me?"

"Oh just a special tranquilizer for werewolves, and some masking potion for your scent" she said smirking

"What do you want?" I asked, I needed to keep her talking so I could gain enough energy to at least bend the Earth and get out of here. We were in what looked like a barn, and from what I could see outside we were in a forest.

"I want what you took from me you self centered b***h" she snarled "flaunting yourself around, following him like a obsessed puppy everywhere. I don't know what you did to him, but you're going to pay!"

"I never did anything! We are mates!" I shouted.

"You b*tch, he'd never fall for someone like you. You're nothing but an ugly b*tch with a rich daddy, there's nothing special about you. I should f*cking kill you right now. I'm sure I'll be able to console Kane. F*ck him until the sun comes to make him forget you." she said with a hug smile, day dreaming about her future with Kane.

"He's mine! and he'd never turn to you if anything ever happened to me, you're just a dense dumb b*tch with no personality. He could never love or be interested in a sl*t like you!" I said, with a crazy laugh trying to imagine what world she lives in thinking Kane would ever be with her.

The next thing I knew I was shot in the shoulder, it burned so badly and the pain was so intense I screamed my lungs out.

"Dont ever talk to me like that! Have some f*cking respect!" she shouted, she pressed my wound as the blood oozed out making me scream in agony. I saw her pull her phone out and seemed to be texting someone, she waits a while then walked away. I looked around for a possible way out but Storm confirmed that I was shot with silver so she couldn't heal me quickly, the blood loss was draining my energy and I could barely swirl a little dirt on the floor. F*ck! How would I get out? How long have I been in here for?

Margaret comes back with a syringe with an evil look on her face.

"More tranquilizer? Afraid I might hurt you if you don't keep me drugged up?" I asked

"Oh, just you wait and see b*tch" and she stabbed me right in the abdomen, and immediately I was engulfed in pain and it burned throughout my entire body, Storm howled in pain and I knew this had to be wolfsbane. The pain was unbearable and I felt myself slipping into darkness once again.
