Noah was worried on how to get them out of the situation, he had no way of calling for the pack or knowing how many hunters had surrounded them. He started to look around him while taking a stance to cover and protect Nevaeh. Then he heard the screams from the hunters along with the growls of his warriors. Luke came up to him in his wolf form and soon realized they wouldn’t be able to communicate.
“Nevaeh is hurt, mindlink the doctors to be ready for us and for someone to collect her things before they return home” Noah just about yelled at Luke.
Luke nodded his head and lowered himself to carry them back to the pack house. He could tell Noah was on the fence to have his mate so close to another male but, this was his future Luna, it was his job to protect them both. Noah finally placed Nevaeh on Luke’s back and climbed on as well. Luke took off towards the pack house as fast as he could, talking with the pack doctor to explain the situation so they could be fully prepared. As soon as they broke through the tree line you could see doctors and nurses waiting for them with a stretcher for Nevaeh. Noah’s parents were there waiting to see their son, and make sure he was ok.
Nevaeh was removed from Luke back to be rushed and have the buckshot's removed from her back, but before they could make it to the hospital she started to go into shock. They stopped right in the yard and stabilized her before once again heading to the hospital. Once in the hospital they got to work removing 20 pellets that had holes in them filled with wolfsbane. After all we’re removed and her wounds cleaned, they place her on a hemopurifier. It works much like a dialysis machine but removes any virus or in this case wolfsbane from the blood it filters. Once they were done they moved to work on Noah since he refused to let anyone touch him until Nevaeh was ok.
Noah was brought into the same room as Nevaeh for them to remove the pellets from his chest. They pulled 7 from his chest and cleaned his wounds. As soon as he was fixed up he was at Nevaeh’s side. He grabbed her hand and started to rub her knuckles.
“Get a room in the Alpha’s wing setup for her, and bring an extra bed in there. I will be staying with her until she recovers.” Noah orders the staff.
The nurses nod their head and head and leave to prepare the room. He continued on to tell the doctors that no one was to enter her room. His parents were not to enter, Nevaeh’s uncle wasn’t to, and Serena especially wasn’t to enter her room. He only wanted the people needed to take care of Nevaeh and him to be in there until Nevaeh woke up. Even though the abuse had seemed to stop he still didn’t trust Serena and with Nevaeh in this condition he wasn’t taking any chances.
“Nevaeh my sweet angel please wake up” Noah said rubbing her knuckles.
I was surrounded by darkness but could see a hint of light ahead. Did I die, because don’t people say don’t go into the light if your not ready.
“Nevaeh stop taking forever and come on. She wants to talk to us” Artemis called.
Then I was able to see her silhouette in the light, so I started to walk towards it. I can hear her talking with someone, when I walked through the light I saw Artemis and the moon goddess sitting by the waterfall.
She told me she picked here to talk since it was my favorite place to be. I walked over to them and sat down putting my feet in the water, and turning to face them to hear what she wanted to talk to us about.
“You are both very weak from all the wolfsbane in your system, the doctor has placed you in a medically induced coma, and has a machine filtering your blood. You both will be fine as you are already healing at an alarming rate, even faster than before your mate was by your side. Nevaeh I didn’t make a mistake pairing the two of you together, Noah didn’t show it but he has loved you since the day you came to his pack. He was only mean and tried to make you an outsider so no one would go near you. So when you wake up you need to give him a chance to right his wrongs. Also I have spoken with Alpha Michael about Artemis and her outburst and everything is cleared up there, when you wake up it will be like before everything that happened with the Alpha family.” The moon goddess smiles.
“I guess I can give him a chance but he needs to give me space and time. After all he tried to keep me chained up in his room, I was raised as a fighter not an ornament. And he will need to learn to accept that if we are together I can’t be like a normal Luna.” I grumble.
“You are so stubborn just like your father.” She said, shaking her head.
Before I could ask or say anything she got up and started to wade into the water, and disappeared. The view of the waterfall started to fade-away and so did Artemis. I was left surrounded in darkness by myself. It felt like forever just staring at nothing. And then out of nowhere I started to feel a warmth in my hand followed by sparks. Then I felt them on the side of my face as if hair was being tucked behind my ear.
“Please wake angel, please come back to me” his voice came.
After his voice faded away Artemis appeared again, I couldn’t hide my smile as I ran to her. She told me it was time to wake up, we were strong enough. But I didn’t know how to. She bent down for me to climb on and started to run, soon I saw a door and she stopped. I climbed off her and started to walk towards the door, stopping half way only to be pushed by her snout the rest of the way. She can be such a pushy wolf when she wants to be.
I open the door and I am blinded by a bright light, I can hear a heart monitor start to pick up its pace. My eyes snap open and I look around the room to find Noah is the only one here and his eyes are glazed over. I have an overwhelming need to get outside and fast before something bad happens. I start to rip everything that’s connected to me off, I can feel myself trembling like before I shift. Noah grabs my hands and tells me to stop the doctor is on his way, but I can't. I need to be outside and feel the nature around me. It's the only way Artemis won’t force me to shift like she is.
Artemis pushed through more and the color of my eyes changed, she looked at him and told him we need to be outside. Noah shook his head in understanding and let go I continued on ripping everything that was left connected to me and then stood up. He said the doctor would have to look me over but would do it outside so we could calm down and we went outside. I felt the breeze for the first time in 3 days and could smell the rain that was coming, I felt at peace a little. I was still shaking when the doctor came and looked me over, he said I was healed and there was no wolfsbane left in my system, he cleared me to leave. I shifted immediately and took off into the woods feeling free.
