Chapter 7 Laney leaned over the counter with a groan as soon as she returned from the meeting at the high school. “That doesn’t sound good,” Paisley said. Laney lifted her head. “They loved your idea, but I’m not sure I should be the one to help with the project after all.” “Why not? This is your hometown. It wasn’t that long ago that you were going to the homecoming dance.” Laney remembered that night. It was the first time she’d voiced her concerns over living in such a small town.
