Chapter 15
On Sunday Billy spent a few extra minutes getting ready for church. He told himself that it wasn't because he thought Laney might be there with her family, but the truth was apparent when he looked in the mirror. He couldn't stop grinning every time he thought about how Laney had apologized and a huge weight had been lifted from his shoulders. For the first time since he'd seen Laney in Echo Ridge it felt more like the old days. He knew it was dangerous to hope but a part of him wondered if there might be a chance for them to explore what they had lost so long ago.
Pastor Louis greeted Billy with a twinkle in his eye. “It's nice to see you here today.”
“I'm looking forward to your sermon, Pastor.”
Pastor Louis clapped him on the back. “I think you might find it interesting.”
