CHAPTER 6. NEVER GOING TO HAPPEN

1467 Words
EVEY'S POV I beg him to reject me. Maybe if he does, I will die and reunite with Shay. I never expected to find a second chance mate, accepting him would be like rejecting Shay, and I could never hurt him like that. "Shay is dead. It hurts me too, but the Moon Goddess gifted us with another, and he is right here! I want him, I want to get to know him. please don't deny us the possibility of happiness." My wolf begs me, I can tell it hurts her to think of our mate actually rejecting us, and I don't want her to suffer. I just don't know if I can love anyone else. "I understand that you are afraid to have feelings again, but make no mistake. You are mine! If you feel so strongly about it, reject me, but I warn you, I won't accept it! You are tied to me, and I won't let anyone, not even you keep us apart!" His voice gives me chills. He has a hint of authority that I don't dare challenge, but I am still going to try to at least keep this my choice. "I won't move in with you. I don't care what the laws say. You don't own me and you won't force me." He is looking at me, studying me, trying to figure out what he is going to say next. He doesn't look upset, but it is clear that he won't reject me and won't let me reject him either. "You won't move in with me tonight, but you will come with me soon. We have much to talk about. By now, rumors must be spreading, and I am sorry to tell you, but an attack is imminent. You are not safe, and neither are those around you unless we start figuring out if you really have powers and how to use them." Somehow, his words make me feel shame. I don't want anyone to be hurt because of me. My pack has suffered enough. I also can't stop getting excited at the possibility of him wanting me and not caring what I am. "I have to go. Is dark now, and I dont want to be out." I can't give him much explanation. He is going to make fun of me if he learns that I am afraid of being alone in the dark. "Let me take you, please, Evey, don't push me away. I want to get to know you." His eyes are quietly pleading, and at the same time, they are screaming at me to let him in my life. "Fine, you can come with me, but just to the door." I give him a warning. He chuckles a little, and I feel like I am melting slowly. I am starting to let the mate bond do its magic. Once on the road, it feels weird. What can we even talk about? Do we even have something in common? "Did you know that you were, the ahm, wolf from the tale?" Ok, he is going straight to the point. My mate doesn't care for small talk, I see. "I didn't know. I never saw any indication that I had magical powers. I am an ordinary girl with an ordinary wolf." I respond. "I am not ordinary, you ignorant human. I am a legend, and I am destined to do great things." My wolf scoffs, annoyed by my comment. "You are far from ordinary. Up until now, everyone thought the white wolf was a tale, just a story to proceed with caution when mating with other species, but now is clear that it is a prophecy. You must have fary blood in you. We need to find someone who can explain more about this so we are prepared." My mate sounds so at ease with what I am, and it makes me feel better about myself, I am nervous about what me being the white wolf represents, but I feel that with him by my side everything will be alright. ANDREW'S POV "She is accepting you. Her human side is still afraid, but her wolf knows she has the power to fulfill her destiny. She is strong and fiesty. I like her." My wolf seems to have some sort of connection with hers, despite not being mated yet. He can feel her, and that is why we accepted her to stay. As long as we can feel her, we will be alright. "Why do you live almost at the border of the land and not in the pack house?" I want to know everything I can about her, I never had a hard time talking to a woman before, they usually naturally come to me and I don't even have to make an effort, but Evey is different. Even feeling the mate bond, she is cautious. She is afraid to get hurt again, but I will make sure she knows how much I want her. "After Shay died, I couldn't stand it there. Everything reminded me of him. The Alpha let me stay in the Gamma apartments until he found someone to replace Shay, but it felt wrong, so I looked for the house furthest from the pack house, so I didn't have to be reminded of my mate everyday. Our population decreased after the war, and a lot of houses were abandoned to move to the pack house. Most of the pack lives there, and there are only a few of us who live away. " She must be in pain all the time, I only hope that I am able to fill that void and take her pain away, but I don't know how am I going to compete with a ghost. She guided me to her small cottage and I parked in front of it. The small building needs a lot of work. The wooden steps that lead to the entrance look like they are about to collapse at any minute. The small porch needs some work but looks sturdy. She has it decorated with several plants and many flowers of different colors, very fitting for a fairy. "I know is small and needs a lot of work, but I like it. I made some the repairs myself little by little. it brings me peace, especially in the nights where I can't sleep. The pain from losing my mate is still very much alive." Her face brightens every time she says his name, and it makes me jealous. Will she ever love me the way she loves him? "I can help you restore it if you want. I am very good at this. At the pack, everyone helps when building a new place. Besides being a lawyer, I I also have knowledge in construction." I hope she lets me help her. "You are a lawyer?" She asks, amazed. "At White Creek, we believe that education is just as important as training. Most of us have a college Education. Our Alpha is an agricultural engineer, but those who prefer not to go to college still have to have some sort of education, a trade that will be useful to the pack." She looks amazed by what I'm telling her. I don't think Alpha Scott has time to worry about those things, being that his pack needs so much more. 'But you would have to go to school with the humans, that could be so dangerous! there's hunters out there waiting to find us. isn't it a little risky?" She is cute when she is worried. "She is very smart. You gotta admit that it is risky to be with humans as long as members of our pack do." My wolf is already smitten by our mate. "There is a risk, but you would be surprised of all the supernaturals that mingle with the humans. Our own pack opens to the humans once a year during our Apple Harvest festival. It could be a complicated logistic, but we make it work. Hunters are not a problem,. They stay away from packs like ours. A few of our wolves have found their mate while being away." I don't want to overwhelm her with so much information. She looks pale just listening to what little I told her. "I still think is dangerous. Do you go often to the human town?" She looks so worried. looking at me with her gorgeous blue eyes. I slowly reach for her face, and my lips are soon on hers. The sparks are driving me crazy. This feels like heaven, she tastes like a combination of fruits and flowers, if I could make wine out of her flavor, I would, and I would keep it all to myself to taste it anytime I wanted.
